So... I've read up on the wiki about the bo3 campaign and how it was all a simulation in the player's head (blah blah blah) and it all makes a lot of sense... until you get to the final Campaign mission: LIFE.
To my understanding, the campaign was all a recreation of Taylor's memories with his assassination mission with Dylan Stone. However, his mission ended when Stone was shot dead on top of the Lotus Towers in Cairo. Taylor never went on a mission to Zurich to stop a Cyber attack on the Coalescence Corporation. The wiki articles here state that the final mission actually takes place in the real world and is not part of the simulation because somehow when you (the player) were DNI linked with Taylor during the training mission, your consciousness was put inside of Taylor's body. The Player's physical body is dead but your mind is now inside Taylor's body. So a player controlled Taylor along with Rachael Kane are now on their way to Zurich to stop Hendricks.
That last part was a bit of a stretch, even for sci-fi standards, but this wasn't what confused me.
During the LIFE mission, your goal is to go and kill Hendricks because he was now infected with the CORVUS virus. My question is, how did Hendricks get infected in the first place? Hendricks (in the real world) never had a DNI. That was only in the simulation. If LIFE really took place in the real world, then Hendricks shouldn't have been able to DNI hack all the robotic personnel in the Coalescence building. Why was he even going after Sebastian Kreuger in the first place? If he never really was infected by CORVUS?
I know this was a bit of a long post but if someone could just explain to me what really happened in the final BO3 mission, I would really appreciate it.
