X Labs & BOIII has ceased operations after receiving a Cease and Desist from Activision

(Back sooner than I thought) X Labs, a group responsible for the development of modded clients for MW2(2009), Ghosts and Advanced Warfare(Named iW4X, iW6X and S1X respectively) has ceased operations after 4 years following a cease and desist from Activision Publishing. This has come from a post made by the groups twitter. The website, if you try to go to it, will show as unavailable.

This has come only 5 days after another client in Development, Sm2, which was a client for MW2(2009) and later MWR’s PC ports that would act as a “best of” from all of the Call of Duties. While Sm2 could be considered technically it’s own game from how different it was, the same can’t be said for the X Labs Clients. All 3 clients acted as a “quality of life” improvement l, adding Server Browsers, FOV expansion, Mod Support, adding cut guns and more. Whether there is a legal case for this(the Clients existing) is unclear, but it’s clear that XLabs and Sm2 for that matter doesn’t want to take the risk if there is(Not promoting that them not taking the risk is bad, it’s perfectly understandable and reasonable). This, however, does mark a dark point for the future of Call of Duty modding.

This just in: BOIII has shut down development following the XLabs Cease and Desist

Just received the news that the creator of the BOIII client, a client for BO3, has also shut down development. Wether these are officially related(to me)is unknown, but it does come as a surprise as the BOIII client is only a few weeks-months old. It’s so new, that it hasn’t even received its own website. This now leaves Plutonium and H1 as the only popular mod clients still untouched, but them staying that way is certainly not positive.

Sm2 has been discontinued after a cease and desist from Activision came out

The long awaited mod for H1, Sm2, has officially ended development. The following came out today as a twitter post to the Sm2 account, where a post was made on the account at 4:04 AM. In the post, It was stated that a member working on the team received a cease and desist from Activision Publishing, and that All operations for the mod have been shut down permanently.

Sm2 was a project made by many fans to bring the best of all the Call of Duties to one thing. It started out as a mod to MW2(2009), but development later shifted to H1, a modded client for the PC version of MWR due to the technical limitations of the 2009 game and it’s engine. This project would’ve also contained guns from the now defunct COD Online, a free to play COD exclusive to PC’s in China that shut down in August 2021. Many fans are disappointed after 2 years of waiting, only to never get the chance to play this. It’s hard to call this a mod, because, while it likely required H1 to play, it seemed to act as a new game made by the fans, only really using the engine of MWR, or MW2 originally. This is (in my opinion)likely where the cease and desist happened, as Sm2 could technically be considered its own game, using an engine not made for use outside of Activision and its studios. This event could potentially harm the various modded clients that exist for the older COD’s(MW2’s IW4x and…).

New modded client for BO3 is now in a private beta

The modded Client for BO3 has now in private testing. Named “BOIII”, it’s sets out to fix issues with the original BO3, and add a server browser(like the other clients). If you played any of the X Labs, Plutonium and H1 client(s), it’s that, but BO3.

Warzone Mobile delayed to November 2023

Anyone remember Warzone Mobile? I’m not a news studio, so I’ll be honest, I(and I’m assuming everyone else) thought it was cool when it was revealed in 2022, and forgot about it since. Well, it has been delayed from May 15 of this year, to November. Activision has came out as said that it was only a placeholder date, with a final date apparently not being confirmed. However, others beg to differ, with M3RKMUS1C believing it was moved to coincide the release of this years COD, to get another, what I call, “post release Book” in profits. Oh, also MWII isn’t getting year 2 DLC. There will be a COD 2023.

You've heard that right, the "Warzone trilogy" as I'm refering to it as (MW2019, BOCW, VANGARBAGE) have now launched on Steam. Each game is full price ($59.99), however are on sale for 50% off currently till the March 23, 2023.

Black Ops 4 however, will remain as an exclusive to Battle.net. Whether Warzone Caldera and/or Blueprints purchased in Battle.net transfer over is unknown(I'm not rebuying this till maybe Summer sale, and even then I'm only re-buying Modern Warfare 2019). If those do happen, and if you are planning on re-buying any of these, tell me in the replies.

Hey everyone, I brought this up about a month ago but I want to bring some things up and I have new updates.

So, recently we had some new members join the wiki which is great, however, this has caused a mass of "lazy posts" and multiple polls in a single day.

I have been working on moderation of these and deleting these "Lazy Posts" but I wanted to bring this up to hopefully save me some time. If anyone has questions on what a "Lazy Post" is, feel free to comment it or just reread the Guidelines.

As i am saying this, i have yet to play a Call of Duty game. But that might change very soon. Mister Phil Spencer has recently announced a ten-year deal to bring Call of Duty to Nintendo consoles. As a nintendo player, i am excited.

If you haven’t known already, Warzone 1 is under maintenance until Nov 28. They have been updating the game and supposedly they renamed it Warzone Caldera. They also removed Rebirth and Fortune’s Keep.
