Well it seems like people are naming them with idiotic names like Template:S (Sactage's sig), {{Hax}} (Hax_217's sig) and things like that, and is it really right to do that instead of Sig(natures)/UserName.
Like what happens if some one makes [[Hax]], well they with the {{Hax}} on their page is probably fucked.
We should really get a signature name politic so we don't get these weird direction template names.
Oh while you comment, look at joey's example.

Notice that I've moved mine to {{Sac}}, and if the page [[Sac]] WAS created, the template could easily be renamed. It's not much of a problem in my opinion, as long as the templates have Category:Templates/Signatures appended, they can still be identified. Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:17, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

You would still have all the pages that has {{Sac}} on it, and I told you to move it from Template:S --Cakemix 20:20, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
You told me, and I only complied because I felt {{Sac}} a more appropriate name. Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:22, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
Oh so we should all name our pages/templates in a 1 letter name? --Cakemix 20:23, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
{{Sac}} is 3 letters, not 1. Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:26, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
I'm talking about Template:S --Cakemix 20:28, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
What negative effect could possibly become of using {{T|S}} as a template name, that couldn't be fixed with little effort? Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:31, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
Still you didn't even remove the CVU report after you blocked the user, a remove thing I added just to make it more simple for you guys and you can't even do it? --Cakemix 20:43, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
What relevancy does me forgetting to click a button have to template naming? Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:53, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
It means you're bad at what your doing. --Cakemix 21:07, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
This is getting off topic, but I don't see how that makes me a bad administrator. Template:Signatures/Sactage 21:58, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

People name them things like the above because it so much easier, I don't think we need to have a politic because tbh why would a page called "S" or "Hax" be made? Iw5 cardicon soapN7 TC

Why would a template like {{!}} be needed? --Cakemix 20:20, March 1, 2011 (UTC)
But a "page" will never be made called ! will it? Or am I not understanding what you mean? Iw5 cardicon soapN7 TC
{{!}} exists so that the pipe character (|) can be input inside templates, in a fashion such as {{Comment|{{!}}}}, which would display Pictogram voting comment Comment — |, as opposed to Pictogram voting comment Comment — . Template:Signatures/Sactage 20:26, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with Megan, they should be under special names. Flag of East GermanySp3cSprechenFlag of East Germany 21:54, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Come on now, how long does it take to type out {{Signatures/Username}}? Just use the four tildes (~~~~) if you find yourself unwilling to go to all that "trouble." Semtex HUD icon MW2 Bovell Talk | Contrib. 22:40, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Mine, I have to say is a little bit long, but you can make yourself a button that when you click it, it will input it for you, I have the same thing for a vandalism template as well. Flag of East GermanySp3cSprechenFlag of East Germany 22:54, March 1, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — What? Why do you have this kind of things? What if there is someone called SacredMan and he wants the sig {{Sac}}? Is he less equal than the admin? On the RSWiki we just need to use the full name, {{Signatures/Joeytje50}} for me. This is absolutely not a problem, and I also don't see why you would do it this way. Maybe you could make your signatures like {{Joeytje50}} but I don't think it's a good idea to have abbreviations of your username as signature. Joeytje50talk i is gud admin

I would agree. Shotrocket6 Talk 11:38, March 2, 2011 (UTC)
Joey, that would be more a matter of "Snoozers, losers," rather than an AEAE violation. Smuff[citation provided] 07:40, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

I just have Template:Ukimies redirect to Template:Signatures/Ukimies. Also, I have my wikia.js insert a button that adds my signature very easily; it adds --{{Ukimies}} with the press of a button. All I have to do is add tildes. --ukimies {talk | irc | administration} 19:53, March 2, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah I did the same, it's hard getting used to having to use a button at the top rather than the four tildes. Anyways, there's no characters called "Hax" or "Sactage" in Call of Duty, so I can't really see where the problem is. If it's a matter of principal then sure, why not do it, but to be honest this is just nitpicking. Smuff[citation provided] 07:40, March 3, 2011 (UTC)
Read joeys comment and l2name files right. --Cakemix 07:44, March 3, 2011 (UTC)

Hey there, not to butt in but i noticed that y'all were having trouble trying to decide how to do signature templates. I mainly stay on the Borderlands wikia but several other users and myself made a guide to help users create their own signatures. All we did was just create subpages of our own profiles and did templates that way. Just a thought, might want to check it out.i think its pretty self-explanatory n_n Razldazlchick 21:01, March 7, 2011 (UTC)

My problem with the tidles method is that it inserts the raw coding into the page, which can be hugely frustrating if someone had a very complex template. I simply use the template {{HP}} for my sig because it's pretty unlikely a template is gonna be needed under the name HP in the near future, as well as being fast and simple to insert. Closed - Signatures now should begin with the "Sig/" or "Signatures/" prefix. -- 22px-1888721.png Azuristalk 17:15, March 20, 2011 (UTC)
