- For the similar-named aircraft, see A6M2-N.
The A6M Type Zero is a long range fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service (IJNAS) from 1940 to 1945. The A6M was known to the Japanese as the "Mitsubishi Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter." The Allies usually referred to the A6M as the "Zero", from the "Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter" designation. These planes were the workhorse of the Japanese Navy Air Service in World War II.
Call of Duty: World at War
Campaign
It appeared during a single mission, "Black Cats". The pilots of the "Zeros" often use the "Kamikaze" tactics while in game to attack US navy Fletcher-class destroyers. When engaging the player they usually charge in small groups of two-four planes using their guns. There is an achievement/trophy, The Sum Of All Zeros, which is awarded for shooting down forty-five Zeros in the mission.
Multiplayer
A destroyed A6M Zero can be seen in the map Cliffside. In Hangar, there are multiple parked and semi-destroyed Zeroes. Parts of a Zero can also be found on Sub Pens.

In addition, the Zero was supposed to appear as a fourth killstreak, the Kamikaze, where the plane would crash into the target. However, this was cut from the final game like the other fourth killstreaks.
