The ASP is a handgun featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified. It is used by American special forces and the Cuban Police and Military Forces.

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

Campaign[]

The ASP is the first weapon the player uses in the game. It appears as a secondary weapon in the mission "Operation 40", along with the M16. The ASP is the weapon used to shoot Castro's Double; if the player has swapped the ASP for another weapon, Mason will receive another one to shoot him. This is the only mission in which the ASP is available.

Multiplayer[]

The ASP is unlocked by default.

At any range short of 8.75 meters, the ASP will deal forty damage per bullet, netting a three shot kill. Damage decreases linearly until 22.5 meters. At any range past 22.5 meters, the ASP will deal twenty damage per bullet, needing five shots to kill. The ASP has a three shot kill range of 12.9 meters, and a four shot kill range of nineteen meters. In Hardcore, the ASP has a one shot kill range of roughly fifteen meters. The ASP deals forty percent extra damage on a headshot. This can reduce the number of shots needed to kill, but the ASP usually needs multiple headshots for this to be relevant. The ASP has low penetration power.

The ASP fires semi-automatically, and has a maximum potential rate of fire of 937 RPM, allowing the user to fire at a pace of roughly fifteen rounds per second without invoking the firecap.

The ASP has recoil values of 35 to the left and to the right. The ASP has no downwards recoil value, and will instead kick upwards on every shot, with the recoil value upwards being either 25 or 45. The ASP has a centerspeed of 1100.

The ASP allows users to move at 100% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 80% of the base movement speed. The ASP allows users to aim down the sights in 125 milliseconds, and the ASP has decent hip-fire accuracy. The ASP has the fastest switch speeds of any pistol. The ASP's reload animation is 1.25 seconds long, or 1.4 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 900 milliseconds.

The ASP has a magazine capacity of seven rounds, and a starting ammo loadout of 28 rounds.

The ASP has a very limited attachment selection among pistols, as it only has access to one attachment: Dual Wield.

Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified[]

The ASP returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops: Declassified. It performs similarly to the Call of Duty: Black Ops version. It now accepts Extended Mags, which changes the magazine capacity to 10 rounds

Trivia[]

Call of Duty: Black Ops[]

  • The ASP was going to be available in Zombies mode, but was removed. It still remains in the game files as "asp_zm" and "asp_upgraded_zm".
  • In first person the ASP is held with one hand, however in third person it is held in a conventional two-handed grip, like every other pistol.
  • Originally, the ASP had a different firing sound.
