Cutscene[]

A convoy of Task Force 141, Los Vaqueros, and Shadow Company reaches the main gate of Los Vaqueros' base at night in the rain where two Shadow guards wait for them. Colonel Alejandro Vargas, Johnny "Soap" MacTavish, and Simon "Ghost" Riley step out of their vehicles and approach Phillip Graves and his men.

Alejandro: What's this?

Graves: This is the immediate future. Step away from the gate.

Soap: What?

Graves: You heard me.

Alejandro: You're crazy, this is my base.

Graves: It's not a base. This is a sizable covert facility and I admire it- So, I'm taking it. You boys have been relieved. Thank you for your service.

Alejandro: No, no, no, I don't take orders from you.

Graves: Didn't Valeria say that? Now that makes me wonder what else I don't know about your affiliation with a drug lord?

Alejandro steps forward threateningly.

Alejandro: What the fuck did you just say to me, pendejo...

Soap walks up to Alejandro and stops him.

Soap: You're out of line, Graves.

Graves points his finger at Soap.

Graves: Don't do that. Don't... do that. No one needs to get hurt here.

Ghost: Are you threatening us?

Graves: Soldier, I don't make threats. I make guarantees. So let's not do this.

Soap: I'm calling Shepherd.

Soap starts to walk away.

Graves: (His name turns red) General Shepherd sends his regards.

Soap stops walking suddenly.

Graves: He told me y'all wouldn't take this well.

Ghost: He knows about this?

Graves: He's put me in command of this operation from here on out. So, y'all need to stand down. It's time to let the pros finish this.

Soap and Ghost glance sideways at each other.

Graves: And why the hell are we talking like this is some kind of a negotiation? It's not. I've got my orders and now you have yours.

Alejandro: And who the fuck do you think you are, cabrón? My men are inside!

Graves: I'm afraid not. Your men have been... detained.

Alejandro glares at Graves for a second but then launches himself at him.

Alejandro: Cabrón!

Graves and one of his men push Alejandro against a vehicle and restrain him with a zip tie.

Soap: Graves, what the fuck?!

The Shadow beside Grave opens fire on Soap, forcing Soap to then attack the Shadow beside him, forcing Graves and the remaining Shadows to open fire on the threat. Ghost elbows a second Shadow behind him in the face and then uses his knife to stab a third Shadow in the neck before throwing that same knife into the same second Shadow. Alejandro puts his restrained arm around a Shadow's neck.

Alejandro: Get your fucking hands off of me--

Graves knocks out Alejandro in the head with his rifle butt before turning his attention back to Soap. Soap grabs his hostage's sidearm and fires at one of Graves' men, killing him. Graves shoots Soap in the arm, sending him backward to the ground with his dead hostage on top of him.

Soap: Argh!!

Graves moves to his right around the vehicle looking for Ghost. Ghost pops his head out of the vehicle's rear corner and finds Soap on the ground.

Ghost: Go, Johnny, get out of there! Soap - Go!

Soap pushes the dead guard off of him and launches himself over the concrete barrier sliding down the hill as Graves' men fire on him.

Graves: Get him - Now!

Soap fires his sidearm at Shadow Company, killing one of the men before his weapon runs out of ammo.

Soap: Fuck!

Ditching the sidearm, Soap staggers off into the forest with his right arm wounded.

Graves and his men watch Soap vanish into the darkness before turning their attention to finding Ghost. They raise their weapons and search around the vehicles.

Graves: You there, Ghost? That was a big mistake, brother. It did not have to be like this.

Graves peeks around the vehicle corner where Ghost was, only to find nothing.

Graves: Sonovabitch... Find 'em!

Grave and his men search the area for Ghost.

Gameplay[]

Shadow Company searches through the streets of Las Almas, raiding the apartments and houses while terrorizing the population. Dead civilian bodies litter the streets.

Female Citizen 1: ¡NO-NO! ¡POR FAVOR-POR FAVOR! (NO-NO! PEASE-PLEASE!)

Male Citizen 1: ¡Lárguense! ¡Y dejenos tranquilos! (Leave us alone!)

Shadow 3-2: ¡¿Donde esta el Irani?! (Where is the Iranian?!)

Female Citizen 1: ¡No está aquí! (He's not here!)

Male Citizen 1: ¡No sabemos! Salgan de mi-- (We don't know! Get out of my--)

Gunshots are heard, followed by the woman screaming.

Female Citizen 1: No! No... No... NOoooo----! No! No...

Shadow 3-1: Search upstairs, I'll check in back.

Shadow 3-2: Heads up for the Brits.

Shadow 3-1: Roger that.

Soap limps out of the shadows and peeks around the street corner for enemies, breathing heavily and nursing a bleeding right arm. He sinks down against the wall and switches his communications radio to different channels..

Shadow 1-2: Sending transpo to your location, for all prisoners, stand by for--

Shadow 1-3: ...need reinforcements in the North Plaza, now.

Soap switches to his own channel, trying to contact Ghost.

Soap: This is Bravo 7-1, in the blind... How copy...? Ghost, this is 7-1, do you copy?

The radio crackles with static.

Soap: Fuck... Where are you, Ghost?

Soap gets back up on his feet and limps forward a few steps before collapsing forward to the ground.

Ghost: (over radio) Soap - This is Ghost, how copy? Johnny...?

Soap touches his wounded arm and sees how bloody it is.

Ghost: Johnny... How copy?

Soap: Solid.

Ghost: Thought we lost you.

JOHN "SOAP" MACTAVISH - TF-141

ALONE

LAS ALMAS, MEXICO

03 NOV 2022, 0000

Soap overhears the voices of Graves and his men nearby.

Shadow 2-0: Commander Graves...

Graves: 2-0... Your men cordon this area... Yeah? If Soap, Ghost, or Hassan's here, let's keep 'em contained... Yeah?

Shadow 2-0: Wilco! My 2's - Lock it down!

Shadow 2-1: Roger that!

Shadow 2-2: Yes, sir!

Graves: 2-0, you're with me...

Shadow 2-0: Comin' your way, sir...

Soap moves through the streets.

Ghost: You injured?

At this point, the player has several dialogue choices to choose from.

Soap: I'm not a medic.

Ghost: Tell me something I don't know.

Soap: What's the difference?

Ghost: Life or death.

Soap: I'm good.

Ghost: Let's find out how good you are.

Ghost: Keep your blood in, you'll need every drop.

Soap: Thanks for the tip. Where are you?

Ghost: There's a church. I'm heading to it. Let's RV there. You'll need to improvise to survive.

Soap spies a vehicle with Shadow Company men arriving on the scene.

Shadow 3-1: Any sign of 'em?

Shadow 3-2: Not yet. Check everywhere, assume they're alive and dangerous...

Shadow 3-1: Let's hope not. That's a shitstorm we don't need.

Shadow 3-2: They were ordered to stand down and they didn't.

Shadow 3-1: I don't like where this is goin', man... It's not right. These are 141 guys...

Shadow 3-2: They don't write their own rules...

Shadow 3-1: Do we...? Who the fuck is in charge here?

Shadow 3-2: Whoever signs our fuckin' checks, that's who.

Soap moves further down the street and peeks around a corner where he spots Graves and his men searching the area for their targets. Graves knocks out a sicario and has his men take him away.

Graves: Let's go. This way. Line him up next to his amigos...

Shadow 2-0: All mine, Graves.

Sicario Male 1: (in Spanish) Nobody fucks with us here, this is Las Almas territory--!

Shadow 2-0: Shut up! Turn around - NOW! I said turn around...!

Soap: Graves and Shadow are on a killing spree.

Ghost: Looking for Hassan.

Soap: Hassan and us.

Sicario Male 2: (in Spanish) You're a goddamn fool... we own these streets--!

Graves: Do it.

Graves' men execute the sicarios in cold blood.

Soap: Fuckin' hell.

Graves: (spits, whistles) Boys found some dirty cops around the corner, here. Let's go have a word with 'em, shall we...

Soap watches Graves and his men leave the area just as the former finds an opened garage nearby.

Ghost: Advise you move interior if you're not already. It's good cover.

Soap enters the garage and finds a locked door.

Soap: No joy... Door's locked.

Ghost: Look for supplies - things you can make tools with. Welcome to guerrilla warfare...

Soap enters a laundry room and finds a dead civilian curled up in a corner with a rope tied around his ankles.

Soap: Creepin' Jesus...

Ghost: What are you seein'?

Soap: A bloodbath.

Ghost: Watch your arse.. You got exactly zero allies down there...

Soap: We're friends, no...?

Ghost: We're teammates... Friendship's not in the field manual, Johnny...

Soap: Neither is mask making...

Soap removes the rope from the dead man's ankle.

Soap: Poor bastard. Found a rope.

Ghost: That's a start... Keep looking...

Soap finds a fan and removes one of its fan blades.

Soap: Broke off a fan blade.

Ghost: Tie of the blade with the rope and pry open a door.

Soap: Sounds like you've done this before...

Ghost: Years of practice...

Soap goes back to the garage and uses the rope and fan blade to make an improvised prying tool. He then uses the tool to force open the locked door.

Soap: Busted the fan blade...

Ghost: Get you through the door?

Soap: Affirmative.

Ghost: Good. Stay on the hunt... There'll be more where that came from.

Soap goes through the door and enters a living room. Mexican voices can be heard in the kitchen.

Mexican Police 1: ¿Tú quién to crees? ¡Somos la policia! (We're police, who do you think you are!)

Child: ¡Mamá! ¡Mamá! ¡Mamá...! (Mommy! Mommy! Mommy...!)

Mexican Police 1: Si tocas a mi familia (If you take my family), I will feed you to the fucking leonas! ¡Me escuchas! (Listen to me!)

Gunshots are heard in the kitchen as Shadow Company raids another house.

Woman 1: No lastimes a mis hijos...Te lo ruego...Por favor!... (Don't hurt my children... I'm begging you... Please...)

Graves: Take the kid, get him out o' here.

One of Graves' men escorts the child away from the scene. Graves inspects a group of Mexican police being held prisoner.

Shadow 2-2: Let's go, come on, you're with me, quiet, come on... shhhhhh-shhhhhh...

Graves: And look what we got here...? ¡Tenemos más policia...! (We have more police...!) Cops helpin' cartels - Let's show 'em how we handle corruption! Yeah-

Shadow 2-0: Happy to, sir!

Mexican Police 2: El Sin Nombre will kill you for this!

Graves: Oh, no. no. El Sin Nombre's no bueno right now, amigo.

Mexican Police 2: He'll cut your fucking head off!!

Graves kicks the Mexican Policeman.

Graves: Shut the fuck up! ¡No más habla! (No more talking!)

Graves lights a flare.

Graves: This is gonna look muy familiar to usted, amigo... Torch it.

Graves hands the burning flare to one of his men, who then throws it into a building and sets it on fire.

Mexican Police 2: ¡No! ¡NO! ¡¡Te arrancaré los huevos, hijo de puta¡¡ (No! NO! You motherfucker, I'll rip your fucking balls off, you sonuvabitch!!)

Graves: Get him outta here. Take him to the spot with the rest of 'em.

Shadow 2-0: Right away, Commander.

Graves: Alright, these narcos are warlords. And the people here will do anything to help them. So no pussying around, okay. If they're harboring Hassan, I want him flushed out! And... (clears throat) keep your head on a swivel for these Brits... Take 'em dead or alive... you know my preference...

Shadow 2-1: Yup-yup.

Shadow 2-0: Yup-yup.

Soap sneaks through the kitchen past Shadow Company and climbs up the stairs to find a dying civilian stumbling into the hallway before expiring.

Soap: Creepin' bloody Jesus...

Soap walks past the now dead civilian and finds a headlamp in another room that he picks up.

Soap: Found a headlamp. Not too far from its... previous owner.

Ghost: Good. Careful with it. Can light your way, but attract attention.

Soap leaves the room and enters another where he finds more bloodstains and dead bodies in the house.

Soap: Oowf...

Ghost: What's the latest?

Soap: Mercs are killing everything in their path.

Ghost: War crimes...

Soap: Makes me want to commit a few war crimes of my own...

Ghost: Tyranny. It won't stand.

Soap: Think we'll get a green light to go after these guys?

Ghost: No more green lights, Johnny. We're on our own.

At this point, the player is given several dialogue options to choose from.

Soap: What about Captain Price?

Ghost: Price isn't here, is he...? The old man can't bail us out. Not this time.

Soap: I trust the Captain - if he knew, he'd be here.

Ghost: Be careful who you trust, Sergeant. People you know can hurt you the most.

Soap: I don't trust anyone - Don't trust anyone right now, even Price.

Ghost: We'll see. Just make sure you can trust yourself. Start there.

Soap: What about Alejandro?

Ghost: Alejandro you can trust. But, he's in Graves' custody. If he's even alive...

Soap: Alejandro es nuestro hermano. (Alejandro is our brother.) If he's alive, he's on our side.

Ghost: Be careful who you trust, Sergeant. People you know can hurt you the most.

Soap: After this shitshow, Alejandro won't trust us...

Ghost: We'll see. Just make sure you can trust yourself. Start there.

Soap: What about Laswell?

Ghost: Laswell's close with Shepherd. Callin' her's a no-go until we learn more.

Soap: I still trust Laswell. She's always been with us.

Ghost: Be careful who you trust, Sergeant. People you know can hurt you the most.

Soap: I don't trust anyone right now, even Laswell.

Ghost: We'll see. Just make sure you can trust yourself. Start there.

Soap: Good advice, L.T. I wanna be like you when I grow up.

Ghost: You wanna be better than me, Johnny...

At this point, the player can choose a few more dialogue options.

Soap: I will be.

Ghost: Good man.

Soap: Got my work cut out then.

Ghost: That you do...

Soap: Maybe, I already am...

Ghost: Now's your chance to prove it.

Soap: Think I'll live that long?

Ghost: Probably not...

Soap navigates through the house, looking for items to make improvised tools. After using another improvised prying tool, Soap enters another room and encounters a caged dog barking and growling at him.

Soap: Hell's fuckin' bells...

The noise attracts a Shadow Company mercenary.

Shadow 2-2: What's going on up there? I'm going to go check it out...

Soap exits the room immediately and hides in the shadows just as the mercenary enters the room and searches it entirely.

Shadow 2-2: It's the dog from the bedroom. I don't see anything. I'll stick around, just in case...

After some time, the guard leaves, allowing Soap to leave the room.

Soap: Did you see the caged dog?

Ghost: Big geezer. If he barks, shoot him and repo quickly - Don't get compromised...

Soap: You are stone cold, Simon.

Ghost: What has two legs and bleeds?

Here, the player can choose two dialogue options.

Soap: Don't tell me...

Ghost: Half a dog...

Soap: I asked you not to tell me.

Soap: What?

Ghost: Half a dog...

Soap: Sorry I asked...

Soap finds a balcony and drops down to the street, collapsing to the ground as he does so. He gets back up and leaves the house.

Ghost: Gimme a sit-rep.

Soap: Outside... Gated alley.

Ghost: Stick to the edges and stay low.

Soap: Copy.

Ghost: You may get a brag rag for this...

Soap: A medal?

Ghost: Chest candy.

At this point, the player can choose from several dialogue options.

Soap: That's all rubbish.

Soap: Dead Shadows are my medals.

Soap: I deserve one.

Ghost: You said you wanted a win. Congratulations, you're a winner...

Soap: Away n' bile yer heid! (Away and boil your head!)

Ghost: English, MacTavish...

Soap: Sorry, sir, let me translate... "Go fuck yourself".

Ghost: Much better.

Soap continues to navigate through the streets of Las Almas until he runs up the stairs of another house and enters a room.

Ghost: Church is on the north side of the city. I've set up a sniper position in the church tower. Find your way there, and you might just make it.

Soap happens upon another group of Shadows that have captured one Mexican policeman, and one cartel member.

Shadow 1-1: Stop resisting! ¡¿No resistas, comprende?! (Don't resist, understand?!)

Gunshots ring out as the Shadows execute the policeman and cartel member one by one.

Mexican Police 3: Escuchame, cabrón... (Listen up, asshole...) You are making a big fucking mistake! (The character will say "Muy fucking grande although the subtitles will say otherwise.)

Shadow 2-0: You like workin' for narcos... Huh? You like money... ¡¿El dinero, hombre?! (Money, man?!)

The Shadow raises his sidearm to the policeman.

Mexican Police 3: ¡¡Este es el territorio de Las Almas!! (This is the territory of Las Almas!) No... no, no, no... please... PLEASE!!

The Shadow shoots the policeman.

Soap: Graves is rounding up cops.

Ghost: He's judge, jury, and executioner now.

Soap finds an empty glass bottle nearby.

Soap: Bottle...

Ghost: Good for a distraction.

Soap finds some wax nearby.

Soap: Commandeered some wax, LT.

Ghost: Could prove useful...

Soap spies on another group of Shadows as he sneaks past them by a fountain in the square.

Shadow 3-1: ...I got too much respect for these guys to go to guns unless they do.

Shadow 3-2: I bet we'd come out on top o' that fight.

Shadow 3-1: I don't wanna test my skills against 141.

Shadow 3-2: What are you thinkin'?

Shadow 3-1: We should white flag this thing and talk or everyone's gonna end up dead.

Shadow 3-2: You gettin' scared, dude?

Shadow 3-1: I'm not fuckin' scared, bro. I'm not stupid either. Any movement over there? It's quiet here... Narcos got outta Dodge. It's not them I'm worried about anyway...

Shadow 3-2: I thought you said you're not scared...

Shadow 3-1: I'm worried, worried is different than scared...

Shadow 3-2: Same fuckin' thing...

Shadow 3-1: No, it's not, it's not the same thing at all...

Shadow 3-2: I'm telling you right now, don't let these guys get in your head...

Shadow 3-1: So, you're tellin' me you see that big boy with the skullface and you're not gonna start sweatin'?

Shadow 3-2: I'm not gonna see him--

Shadow 3-1: You're right, you won't see him. It's too late if you see him, you're fuckin' dead already. (Although subtitles read "already dead".)

Soap finds a mousetrap nearby.

Soap: Mousetrap... Gotta be a way to use this...

Ghost: Surprisingly useful as a trigger.

Soap: To set something off...

Ghost: Exactly, Johnny. Not an airstrike, but it'll do...

Soap finds a guard standing in his way and uses a bottle to distract the Shadow while Soap slips past him.

Soap: Chucked a bottle... Worked like a charm.

Ghost: Told ya... Pay attention and you just might learn something...

Soap finds a bottle of chemicals nearby.

Soap: Found some chemicals.

Ghost: Tie them up with some wax and you got a smoke bomb. A toxic distraction.

Soap: Sick... I like it.

Ghost: Guarantee you they won't...

Soap finds a roll of tape nearby.

Soap: Picked up some tape.

Ghost: Very useful.

Soap: If I have to wrap a gift?

Ghost: So to speak... Hold on to it.

Soap moves through another house and finds a dead Shadow propped up against the wall with a knife through his neck. Soap pulls out the knife.

Soap: Ghost, you missing a knife...?

Ghost: Several.

Soap: Think I found one.

Ghost: Some of the dead Shadows are my handiwork...

Soap: You came through here?

Ghost: On my way to the church.

Soap: And you left me?

Ghost: I'm used to working alone.

Soap: So much for no man left behind.

Ghost: Just get yourself to the church. Tryin' to keep you alive and get you here in one piece. One of us needs to survive to tell the tale.

At this point, the player can choose a few dialogue options.

Soap: Taken a shine to me, then?

Ghost: Not in the slightest. Still got a lot of ground to cover.

Soap: What are my odds?

Ghost: Don't make me bet against you. Still got a lot of ground to cover.

Soap finds an equipment case containing rope and explosives, which Soap takes.

Soap: Seek and ye shall find...

Ghost: Whatcha got?

Soap: Black powder...

Ghost: Nice. This could get interesting...

Soap uses the items that he has collected throughout the city to make several improvised weapons and tools.

Soap: Yes... L.T., about to play rough with the Shadows...

Ghost: I like the sound 'o that.

Soap: Fashioned a trip mine...

Ghost: A man after my own heart...

At this point, the player has several dialogue options.

Soap: Thought you'd like that.

Ghost: You thought right.

Soap: You have a heart?

Ghost: A cold one.

Soap: That's a scary thought.

Ghost: You learn fast, Johnny.

Soap steps back out into the streets and finds a lone Shadow standing guard.

Soap: Stand by...

Soap sneaks up on the Shadow from behind and stabs him fast, killing him.

Soap: Killed a Shadow.

Ghost: Nice.

Ghost: Take his gun.

Soap takes a P890 pistol from the dead Shadow.

Soap: Took his gun.

Ghost: Good work. Moving up in the world, Johnny. Choose your shots and targets wisely, Johnny. Guns make noise.

Soap: My kingdom for a suppressor...

Ghost: Be smart with what you've got. That's the trick...

(If Soap stays near a dead Shadow...)

Ghost: Don't stick around admiring your work. Keep moving.

Soap: Aye.

Soap leaves the dead Shadow behind and uses his improvised tools to outwit the Shadows.

(If an enemy patrol comes across a dead Shadow...)

Soap: Fuck... Come on, MacTavish...

Soap encounters a group of three Shadows conversing with each other.

Shadow 3-1: I wanna find those English motherfuckers. That asshole with the mask and the other leprechaun.

Shadow 3-2: Leprechaun's - they're Irish, I told you that.

Shadow 3-1: Right. One o' those dudes with the skirts.

Shadow 3-2: It's called a kilt.

Shadow 3-1: It's a dude in a dress, that's all I know...

Soap throws an improvised smoke bomb at them, before dispatching them.

Soap: Holy hell... Ghost...

Ghost: All clear?

Soap: Appears to be...

Ghost: Stay on guard and keep moving to the church.

Soap: Aye.

(If Soap survived the gunfight, but got wounded...)

Ghost: Feeling weak, are you?

Soap: A bit shaky, sir, yeah.

Ghost: Graves tried to kill us. Would stand to reason if you were a little off. Find a stim - It'll give you a boost.

Soap proceeds through the streets, avoiding or killing Shadows he encounters. Eventually, he reaches a flooded storm drain that overwhelms his sense of smell.

Soap: It's pishin' it doon out here.

Ghost: Speak English.

Soap: It's rainin' fuckin' hard!

Ghost: Then say so.

Soap: I did!

Ghost: Rain's good. It'll cover your tracks.

Soap: Covers theirs too...

Ghost: Let's worry about you, Johnny.

Soap: So, you do like me?

Ghost: I like you alive...

Soap finds another equipment case that contains an adrenaline epipen and two explosive blocks. Soap jabs the epipen into him and stimulates his adrenaline.

Soap: Good mornin', Mexico...

Soap continues on and opens the door to a house only to find it rigged with a booby-trap wire.

Soap: Oh shit! Hell's fuckin' bells, look at this...

Soap enters the house through the back window where he finds a booby-trapped Lockwood 300 shotgun.

Soap: Moving inside.

Ghost: Check. Take what you need to keep them off you.

Soap: Aye...

Soap disarms the Lockwood shotgun and takes it for his own..

Soap: Sweeeet... Don't mind if I do... Now, we're in business... Ghost...

Ghost: Soap...

Soap: Found a tripwire rigged to a shotgun. Disarmed it. Took the gun.

Ghost: Open hearts and minds with it, Johnny.

Soap moves up to the next level of the house and enters a room.

Ghost: Johnny... Graves is burning the midnight oil to find us... Why...?

Here, the player has multiple dialogue options once again.

Soap: Graves is involved.

Soap: Graves and Shepherd are both involved.

Soap: Graves is following orders.

Soap: No matter what - this is an unprecedented amount of fuckery. We need to get to the bottom of it.

Ghost: Accurate and deadly fire tends to resolve these things. Right now, we're not safe here.

Soap: Right now... we're not safe anywhere, L.T.

(After Soap finds more items to make improvised tools...)

Soap: Hell yeah...; I'll take that...; That's handy...; I can work with that...; Mine now...; Yes...; Lovely...; Don't mind if I do...; Seek and ye shall find...; Good find...; That's a keeper...

Soap finds a dead civilian next to a toy kit.

Soap: Son of a goddamn devil...

After navigating through the house some more, Soap hears a banging on the door and goes to investigate. He opens the door and finds a fatally wounded civilian collapse to the ground and die. Soap walks past the civilian and enters the coffee shop.

Soap: I'm in the coffee shop.

Ghost: Get us a tea.

Soap: Fucking Brits... You're gonna owe me for this.

Ghost: Why?

Soap: We're fixing each other's problems.

Ghost: What's my problem?

Soap: The mask... Take it off...

Ghost: Show my face?

Soap: Yes, sir.

Ghost: Negative.

Soap: Are you ugly?

Ghost: Quite the opposite.

Soap: I doubt that.

Soap finds another equipment case and pries it open to find explosives and aiming sights to attach to his guns. He uses another improvised prying tool to force open the coffee shop's office door and enter the office. He finds a safe with a combination lock.

Soap: What have we here?

Soap has to enter the correct combination code into the safe, of which the code is 10-10-80.

(If Soap doesn't open the safe...)

Soap: Shit. Locked. Gotta find the combo.

Soap searches the office for the combination code and finds a calendar marked with a certain date.

Soap: That looks interesting.

Soap enters the combination code to access the safe.

Soap: Too easy.

Soap opens the safe and finds money, throwing knives, and a silenced .50 GS pistol.

Soap: Oh... What have we here?

Soap takes the pistol from inside the safe.

Soap: Hand held .50 cal...? You're coming with me... Ghost?

Ghost: Soap...

Soap: Guess what I found?

Ghost: More stopping power?

Soap: Check.

Ghost: Your life expectancy just went way up.

Soap leaves the office and looks out the window of the coffee shop to find Shadows approaching the store.

Shadow 4-1: You two, check out that warehouse.

Shadow 4-2: Guy's got no gun, he won't get far.

Shadow 4-1: He's 141... Still dangerous. Go left, I'll clear the alley.

Shadow 4-2: Roger, on it.

The Shadows enter the coffee shop.

Shadow 4-2: Ya here? Not too late to surrender...

Soap can either avoid or kill the Shadows. Either way, Soap advances to the next area of the city.

Soap finds some oil nearby.

Soap: Found some oil...

Ghost: Oil, bottle, and some rope for a wick. Time for a cocktail...

Soap proceeds through the city.

Ghost: Johnny... town's full o' tunnels. One leads out across from the church. Be advised - the tunnel is flooded. Prepare for a cold swim.

Soap: Can't wait.

Ghost: Still upright?

Soap: So far, so good.

Ghost: You get caught out there, they'll kill you slow...

Soap: Mercs or the Narcos?

Ghost: Narcos... They'll take videos...

Soap: I'll give 'em your email so they know where to send them...

Ghost: I won't watch 'em... More than once anyway...

Soap: Sick bastard...

Soap finds another safe inside another building where the combination code is 37-60-80. He opens the safe and finds a crossbow inside. Soap proceeds through the city.

Ghost: You still standing, Johnny?

Soap: Think I'm clear...

Ghost: Good. Stay sharp and meet me at the church.

Soap continues on until Ghost chimes in.

Ghost: Soap - you makin' progress?

Soap: Aye. Gettin' there...

Ghost: Two goldfish are in a tank...?

Soap: Go on...

Ghost: One turns to the other and says... "You know how to drive this thing?" Little army humor.

Soap: Very little...

Ghost: Another?

At this point, the player can choose a few dialogue options.

Soap: Why not...

Ghost: Why don't blind guys skydive?

Soap: Tell me.

Ghost: Scares the shit out o' their dogs... We can do this all night...

Soap: That's what I'm afraid of.

Soap: Please no.

Ghost: Suit yourself.

Soap: I got one for you...

Ghost: Let's hear it...

Soap: Why was the strawberry crying?

Ghost: Why?

Soap: Because he was in a jam.

Ghost: Not bad... We can do this all night...

Soap: That's what I'm afraid of.

Soap: Why don't shrimp share?

Ghost: Why?

Soap: Because they're a little shellfish.

Ghost: Not bad... We can do this all night...

Soap: That's what I'm afraid of.

Soap reaches an abandoned bar in the city.

Soap: L.T. - I'm at the bar.

Ghost: You like tequila?

The player now has two dialogue choices to respond with.

Soap: No. Tastes like dog piss.

Ghost: I'll take your word for it.

Soap: Got a tactical use for dog piss?

Ghost: Wolf hunting. They follow the scent.

Soap: Do you hunt with the mask on?

Ghost: Naturally. The camo version.

Soap: I'll bet you sleep with that thing?

Ghost: Soundly.

Soap: You're out o' your mind, L.T.

Ghost: That's for sure.

Soap: Could use one right about now.

Ghost: I'd murder for a whiskey.

Soap: You mean Scotch?

Ghost: I drink bourbon.

Soap: Like a good ol' boy...

Ghost: I love Kentucky.

Soap: You're out o' your mind, L.T.

Ghost: That's for sure.

Eventually, Soap reaches the tunnel leading to the other side where Ghost waits for him. Soap enters the chest-deep water.

Soap: Ghost...

Ghost: Talk to me, Johnny...

Soap: I found the tunnel.

Ghost: The church plaza is on the other end of the tunnel. Push through, you're nearly here.

Soap swims through the tunnel and finds another group of Shadows on patrol.

Shadow 3-1: Where the hell are they?!

Shadow 3-2: Maybe, they're both dead.

Shadow 3-1: Graves wants proof.

Shadow 3-2: Just cut the mask off.

Shadow 3-1: Do I get a bonus for that...?

Shadow 3-2: Not if I beat you to it.

Shadow 3-1: I'll kill the Irish one.

Shadow 3-2: The kid's Scottish, not Irish.

Shadow 3-1: It's the same fuckin' thing...!

Soap: Ghost, I got Shadows wearing body armor.

Ghost: You'll have to get in close and find the gaps.

Soap: Rog.

Soap engages the Shadows and overcomes them. He reaches the end of the tunnel and emerges out to the other side where the church can be seen in the distance.

Ghost: You got eyes on the church?

Soap: Aye.

Ghost: Good. You're on the right track. Keep comin'.

Soap reaches an area that's blocked off with barbed wire and vehicles.

Soap: Ghost, area's blocked off.

Ghost: Try and cut through the shops.

Soap looks for a side route and finds one in an alleyway.

Soap: Think I found a way through, L.T.

Ghost: Shadows are everywhere. I'll hold 'em off until we RV in front of the church and secure a vehicle for exfil.

Soap: Roger that.

Ghost: Give 'em hell, Johnny - We're almost there.

Soap enters a shop and reaches a locked door. He uses an improvised prying tool to force open the door, which he does. Suddenly, a Shadow opens the door in front of Johnny and spots him.

Soap: Fuck-!

The Shadow bashes Johnny in the head with the butt of his rifle and knocks him to the ground.

Shadow 4-1: What the... GET DOWN-! (towards the radio) All Shadow stations, Got one near the church-!

Graves: Kill him.

As Shadow 4-1 prepares to shoot Soap, a sniper shot rings out and kills the Shadow. More Shadows appear only to get cut down by Ghost.

Soap: Holy hell... Ghost - was that you?

Ghost: Who else...? Now go...

Soap exits out of the shop and runs across the streets to reach the church entrance. More Shadows arrive on the scene and open fire on Soap.

Soap: Gimme a bloody break... Ghost, how copy?

Ghost: Johnny, got company in the church, and they're not here for forgiveness...! Get to the steps, I'll be there...

Soap: Copy, L.T..

Soap continues running through the streets, avoiding fire from the Shadows and returning fire of his own until he reaches the church entrance where Ghost waits for him.

Soap: Ghost!

Ghost: Soap!

Ghost runs out of the church and shoots two pursuing Shadows. He then climbs up and over the church gates onto the streets.

Ghost: We need a vehicle, on me-! Stay sharp, they know we're here and they know it's us. They'll send more.

Soap and Ghost spot more Shadows arriving.

Soap: Contact-! Dead ahead!

Ghost: I see 'em. Watch the alley!

Soap and Ghost move through the streets, killing any Shadows that get in their way.

Ghost: Johnny, stay close. Heads up for a vehicle we can take.

Eventually, Soap and Ghost reach a pickup truck nearby.

Ghost: Soap, pickup truck ahead. Lights on.

Soap: See it!

Ghost: I'll drive, Johnny - take shotgun!

(If Soap doesn't immediately get in the truck...)

Ghost: Now, Johnny, passenger side of the truck - mount up!

Soap and Ghost enter the truck with Soap in the passenger seat and Ghost behind the wheel.

Ghost: Alright, Johnny - You made it...

Soap: We made it, L.T.

The truck comes under fire from the Shadows. Soap fires back with his X12 pistol.

Ghost: Hold fast...!

Ghost puts the truck in reverse and runs over the two Shadows firing on them.

Soap: That's one way o' doin' it!

Soap spots a Shadow to the left of Ghost.

Soap: Get back!

Soap shoots and kills the Shadow.

Ghost: Thanks.

Soap: Drive - I'll cover us!

Ghost puts the truck in full speed and rams through the blockade. The truck drives off into the night.

Cut to black. End of level.
