Atomgrad - Episode 01 is the first Raid episode of the Atomgrad series featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. It was released on December 14th, 2022 as part of the Season One update.
As John Price, Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, and Farah Karim, the players are tasked with locating their ally, Alex Keller, who has gone missing following a surveillance mission to investigate a newly-discovered Soviet-era bunker in Urzikstan, occupied by Al-Qatala forces.

Kate Laswell is seen on webcam. Several images, including a map of Urzikstan and photos of a bunker entrance are seen on screen as she goes over the mission briefing. Kate Laswell: 48 hours ago, goat herders in the Sattiq mountains discovered an entrance to what appears to be an abandoned bunker, dug in the hillside. Closer inspection determined the hatchway was an inlet to what could be a fortified Soviet-era fallout shelter... or something more. Images of Farah Karim, Alex Keller and three Urzikstan Liberation Force soldiers appear on screen. Laswell: Commander Farah Karim tasked a follow-on team of LF fighters, lead by Alex Keller, callsign "Echo 3-1", to make entry. He and his team haven't been heard from since the initial infil... except for one update from Alex indicating that the top of the tunnels were wider and more extensive than first reported. A communications log displays, showing Alex's last message to Laswell. The text reads: 2022-12-12 | 08:29:20 | [ECHO 3-1]: Watcher, these tunnels go deeper than our intel indicated. Sending Tac Map for ref. Upon entry, walls span approximately ten meters. We're going further. <ATTACH: TACMAP220423082920.IWV> 2022-12-12 | 11:10:02 | [WATCHER]: Echo 3-1, do you copy? 2022-12-12 | 11:10:59 | [WATCHER]: Echo 3-1? The screen displays Alex and Farah once more. Laswell: Again--that was his last and only communication after making entrance. As of now, they're dark on comms. Farah has since sent scouts to hold the area. The screen displays an image of Kyle "Gaz" Garrick, John Price and Farah. Laswell: Price, Gaz, Farah--your mission is to locate Alex and the LF team and do a complete and thorough reconnaissance of the facility. IF anyone or anything is down there. We need to know who and what... The screen transitions to the mountain areas outside the bunker. Price, Gaz and Farah move together through the forest. The team stops. Gaz: We close? Farah: No-we're here. Farah points toward the bunker entrance in front of their view. Price: Take point. The trio moves out of view. At the bunker entrance, Price picks up a rope that leads down the bunker. Price: Alex's rig... Farah: This is where they went in. Gaz: And never came back up. Price notices something in the distance and readies his gun. Price: Eyes front. Gaz also turns around and raises his gun and aims toward the forest. Farah walks forward and lowers Gaz's gun. Farah: (whistles) Whistles are heard in response, as Farah's scout team walks out of the forest. Farah approaches them while Price and Gaz hang back. Malika, one of the scouts, shakes Farah's hand. Malika: (speaks Arabic) Commander. Farah: (speaks Arabic) Any movement? Malika: (speaks Arabic) Nothing. Farah: (speaks Arabic) Good--Stay here. Make sure no one follows us in. Malika: (speaks Arabic) Yes Ma'am. Farah turns back to Price and Gaz. Farah: (speaks English) Captain, Gaz, check those ropes, we're going in... Price and Gaz pull the ropes at the entrance. Price: Good to go. Gaz: Solid. Farah climbs on the entrance, then looks back toward her scouts. Farah: If you don't hear from me, don't come looking. Keep you posted. Malika, you're in charge. Malika: Yes, Commander Karim. Farah turns around and looks at the entrance. Farah: Let's go. Price: After you, Sergeant. As Farah and Gaz prepare to enter the bunker, Price holds up his communications device. Price: Laswell--we're heading in now. Laswell: (on comms) Copy John. Keep me posted. Farah, take care of them. Farah: Always do, Laswell... The trio rappels down the bunker. |

Price, Gaz and Farah enter the silo slowly, aiming their flashlight around the area. Price: Farah, stay center. Gaz, check left. Farah: Roger. Gaz: On it. The trio move out of the flooded area and up the platform. Gaz: No movement. Price notices several bodies on the ground. Price: Eyes front! Gaz: Show your hands! Farah: (speaks Arabic) Turn around! Turn around! No responses from the bodies. Price: They're all dead. Farah: Easy. They could be rigged. The trio moves toward the bodies. Gaz: No wires. Gaz moves toward two other bodies, while Farah stops and checks the closest one. Gaz: These two are clear. Price: Clear here. Farah turns the body over. It is revealed to be one of Farah's LF fighters. Farah: These are my soldiers. This is Arif, he volunteered to go in with Alex. Gaz: Then where the hell is Alex? Farah checks her communications device. Farah: Echo 3-1, this is Kilo-Actual, how copy? No response. Farah: Echo 3-1, do you read...? Price stands up and checks his device. Price: Watcher, this is Bravo in the blind, radio check. No response. Price: Laswell, are you getting this? Kate- Farah: We're too deep. No signals. Gaz: Concrete and metal. Can't send or receive. Price: Yeah it's a silo, alright. Gaz looks around and finds a power switch. Gaz: Found power. Gaz reaches for the switch and flips it. Gaz: Lights up. The lights in the silo turn on, revealing a large inactive missile. The trio looks up. Gaz: Holy hell. Farah: (speaks Arabic) May peace ever find us. Price: Soviet ICBM. Liquid-fueled, supersonic. Gaz: Nuclear. Price: Thermonuclear. Farah: Fifty years old. Price: At least. Gaz: You think there's a warhead up there? Farah: Let's find out. Cuts to black. |
