- "Semi-auto tactical rifle. Highest damage in class with reliable accuracy at range."
- — In-game description
The Auger DMR is a tactical rifle featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It was developed in Santa Monica by the fictional manufacturer GUNNER. It also has a Mastercraft variant.
Multiplayer[]
The Auger DMR is the first unlocked tactical rifle, available as soon as Create-A-Class is unlocked. The Auger boasts strong damage, netting consistent three-shot kills out to medium range, as well as a medium firecap that gives it a strong time-to-kill both in close-quarters and at range.
Recoil is moderate, but the centerspeed is high enough that the weapon settles between shots, meaning that recoil isn't a problem except when tracking targets at long range. The Auger is particularly effective when holding down long sightlines from a distance. The magazine size of 20 rounds is perfect for the weapon, as the lower RPM and high damage means that less bullets are required to secure a kill.
Despite the Auger DMR's designation as a tactical rifle, it can be surprisingly effective in close-quarters given sufficient accuracy. Its hipfire spread is somewhat large, but is still tight enough to be used in close-quarters when spraying as a last ditch option. However, as engagements move closer to point-blank, the Auger becomes increasingly dependent upon accuracy, as missing shots drastically increases the time-to-kill and makes it more likely that the player will lose the engagement.
By default, the Auger DMR comes with a scope that provides a similar level of zoom to the Recon. The scope is relatively clear and the reticle is easy to use. However, if using the rifle on a close-quarters oriented map, optics with less zoom such as the Reflex may be preferred.
Zombies[]
The Auger DMR appears in the Zombies maps Voyage of Despair, IX, Blood of the Dead, Classified, Dead of the Night, Ancient Evil, Alpha Omega and Tag der Toten where it's available as a weapon to purchase from the wall for 1550 points or from the Mystery Box for 950 points.
When upgraded via Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the Dead Man's Refracker with the magazine size increased to 30 rounds and its ammo reserve increased to 210.
Attachments[]
The Auger DMR has a targeted set of attachments, primarily focused on improving the weapon's damage potential. The Auger also has Double Tap, an exclusive Operator Mod which converts the weapon into a two-round burst.
