The Battle of the Vikhorevka 36 Oil Platform began with American invaders emerging from the USS Chicago and USS Dallas and reaching the lowest deck of the oil platform. The team worked their way up defeating Russian troops and rescuing hostages. Once the oil platform was clear, the remaining team was brought near the Petropavlovsk Gulag.

Prelude

Anticipating an attempt to attack the Petropavlovsk Gulag, Russian troops were deployed on various oil platforms surrounding the gulag to operate various anti-aircraft weaponry. Hostages were taken by Russian troops in order to deter destruction of the oil platforms. Shepherd identified an oil platform that was comparatively less defended and thus the most vulnerable to capture - the Vikhorevka 36 Oil Platform. The USS Chicago and USS Dallas were used to transport Task Force 141 personnel to capture the oil platform and liberate the hostages.

Summary

Task Force 141 personnel managed to sneak onto the lowest level of the oil platform, taking down the two Russian troops discovered down there. The operatives moved up two decks, saving two groups of hostages. Soap discovered that a patrol was moving towards their location and stealth would no longer be an option - Roach placed C4 on one of the Russian bodies on the second deck. Defeating the patrol, the operatives continued their search for hostages. Upon reaching a higher deck, the operatives are forced to defeat an attacking helicopter to survive. After defeating the helicopter, the operatives move to the highest deck where the Russians have deployed smoke grenades. After defeating the Russians there, the operatives enter the room with the final group of hostages and defeat all Russian troops inside. With the oil platform clear, the surviving Task Force 141 personnel leave the oil platform to reach the Gulag.

Aftermath

After the capture of the oil platform, the platform was transferred from Task Force 141 to the United States. The Battle of the Petropavlovsk Gulag started shortly after the fighting at the oil platform came to a close. The oil platform and others in the area were destroyed by US Naval units after the battle.
