- "Vehicle Lock-on Launcher. 4 rocket ammo capacity."
- — In-game description
The BlackCell is a scoped rocket launcher featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The BlackCell can only lock onto enemy vehicles and cannot be free-fired like the XM-53. However, it carries twice as much ammunition as the XM-53.
Campaign[]
The BlackCell is never carried by enemy NPCs in the campaign, but can be extremely useful in sections involving large swarms of airborne enemies such as Talons and Wraiths, as well as ground walkers like the ASP units. The BlackCell possesses the highest damage in its class, killing in three locked-on shots on most difficulties.

Master of Arms[]
For the Master of Arms decoration, the arena in front of the Coalescence entrance in Life is the best option; if the objective isn't completed after the ASP-ML is destroyed, infinite waves of Wraiths, Talons, and P.A.W.W.S. will spawn in, providing an easy source of kills for the BlackCell until the desired kill count is reached.
Multiplayer[]
The BlackCell is more effective at taking out Scoretreaks than the XM-53, having twice the capacity at the cost of free-firing. This means a single player can take out high-level Scorestreaks, such as the H.A.T.R., by themselves without needing to respawn or pick up ammo. It can also lock onto the Safeguard robot, taking out a quarter of its health with each rocket.
Unlike the XM-53, the BlackCell's sights take up the entire screen. On the right side of the HUD, there is an indicator that displays how many rockets are required to take down a locked-on target, as well as a timer showing how much time the locked-on scorestreak has left. This can be useful in determining whether or not a scorestreak is worth taking down, or if the player should save the rockets for another target.
It is possible to kill an enemy player with the BlackCell despite it being lock-on only. If the player fires it at a target, the rocket has the potential to kill any enemy who intercepts its path, or is within the lethal splash damage zone.
Zombies[]
The BlackCell is available as a power-up in Dead Ops Arcade II: Cyber's Avengening, replacing the RPG-7 from the original Dead Ops Arcade. Unlike in multiplayer, it is fully-automatic. The BlackCell only goes a small distance before exploding, which allows zombies to get close if the player is not aiming in the right direction

Trivia[]
- The Robot in Safeguard can be targeted by the BlackCell and takes all four rockets to destroy at full health.
