Opening Cutscene[]
An image and flashes of a tree with lightning is seen as it slowly gets closer.
Dr. Salim: This Bishop that Maretti mentioned...
F. Player: Damien Bishop, the man who found The Cure. A vaccination to make 61-15 victims human again.
Dr. Salim: A cure? Did it work?
F. Player: It should have... something was blocking it. Bishop had this theory. He believed somewhere there was an "Undead Brain", a single creature controlling them as a collective hive. He believed that it somehow blocked the cure. We met him in 2065, when he made the breakthrough. News travelled fast - he and a few others were kidnapped in Ethiopia. It was a Joint Op with Taylor's Team. We were to extract Bishop from a base overrun by the dead...

Gameplay[]
Scene starts out black, then fades into a burning truck shown on a TV monitor as the Player takes control. While the Player speaks, she, Hendricks, and Alpha Team are disguised as NRC Soldiers in an airport control tower in Ethiopia. Hendricks has a mouthpiece and is pacing around in front of the Player.
F. Player: With the dead crawling all over, we needed a distraction. Something to keep the flesh eaters occupied so we could grab Bishop. We weren't Deadkillers yet, so we had to be a little more creative. Lucky for us, there were plenty of NRC birds in the sky and the NRC's DEAD System still worked...
There is a sudden banging on the tower entrance.
F. Player: ...laser cannons built to auto-target any hostile aircraft.
Dr. Salim: So you created the diversion...
The Player briefly looks at the two NRC guards knocked unconscious before looking back at the monitor.
F. Player: And Taylor's team prepped extraction. Unfortunately, it seemed our cover wouldn't last as long as we hoped.
The Player opens up a hacking module on her monitor.
F. Player: The remaining NRC noticed the radio silence from air traffic control and had sent soldiers to investigate.
The Player readies her MR6, as her monitor shows the DEAD system coming online.
F. Player: Command set EXFIL for a satellite station off base.
Hendricks give the Player the thumbs up. The Player presses down on her screen, reading "Target Locked" on the NRC cargo plane. The larger screen Hendricks is looking at shows the plane coming in for landing.
F. Player: We reset the DEAD System to target one of the automated planes circling above. Turns out the undead have a thing for giant explosions. Like moths drawn to a porch-lamp.
The Player presses "Fire" and an alarm sounds.
F. Player: And all we had to do was turn on the lights.
The large monitor shows the DEAD system firing at the plane and destroying it as the parts crash into the building, leaving a hole in the wall, and all the screens showing "IMPACT".
F. Player: Unfortunately, we couldn't exactly control the landing. Hendricks alerted Taylor the bird was down and the diversion in play.
Hendricks opens the door, the Player, with her MR6, and the team eliminate the shellshocked NRC guards outside, and move forward.
F. Player: We took out the NRC and moved. Bishop was being held underground in the security station across the tarmac.
The team heads downstairs, where a VTOL can be seen flying past. The Player must crouch under some wreckage to go on as she follows the team downstairs to the exit.
F. Player: Hendricks ordered weapons down.
While the Player speaks, she and Hendricks head out the exit and sprint across to an enemy checkpoint.
F. Player: The base was crawling with NRC soldiers and undead, no need to draw any more attention to ourselves. We crossed the tarmac, the tunnel ahead led to the security station.
Unseen, Hendricks takes out a knife and stealthily silences an enemy soldier. The two proceed along an access tunnel and over a walk way to the security station. The two stack up, Hendricks opens the door, and kills two NRC guards instantly with his RK5.
F. Player: Hendricks took out the guards. I hacked into the system to find Bishop.
Dr. Salim: Why were there NRC still at the base it was being overrun.
The Player taps keyboard of security cameras and begins to scan for Damien Bishop. The Player sees a hostage, sitting against wall crying.
F. Player: They needed the cure. They kidnapped Bishop's whole team and would do whatever it took to get their hands on it. They'd torture these researchers 'til the dead broke down the door and ripped them all to shreds of it meant they could save their people. It wasn't personal. It was self-preservation.
The Player changes feed and sees an NRC soldier hitting a hostage with a pipe brutally.
F. Player: With the secret out about Bishop's discovery, he'd become the most wanted man in the world.
The Player switches the feed and sees NRC soldiers pours gasoline inside another hostage's throat and punching his stomach.
F. Player: The NRC were just the first to grab him. It was every country for itself. Why do you think we were there? The Winslow Accord wanted the same thing the NRC did.
Dr. Salim: You can rationalize anything when you're put up against the wall.
The Player switches the feed and sees another hostage with his hands tied and hooked up.
F. Player: Nothing about this was rational. It was instinctual. Animalistic. Survival.
The Player switches to another feed and sees NRC soldiers holding down another hostage as he was about to tortured with a blow torch. The Player switches to another feed and sees NRC soldiers pouring gasoline on Damien Bishop's face and takes him out of the room. The Player switches feeds until she sees the NRC soldiers get Damien Bishop to sit on a chair of interrogation room and exits the security camaras.
F. Player: He had been escorted to an interrogation room. We had to hurry: behind us was an undead army. Once one got a whiff, the others would come running.
Hendricks opens the exit door of security station. The Player and Hendricks engages heavy firefight against NRC guards through tunnels. After the NRC Soldiers are killed, the two proceed through cell block, with Hendricks waiting at the main door and the Player breaching the door to observation silently & sneaks in. After some observation, Hendricks and the Player waltz in, kills the guards inside, and rescues Damien Bishop.
F. Player: Hendricks told Bishop who we were and that we had to move, but Bishop refused to leave without the other researchers. His friends. Our instructions were specific. Bishop was our priority. We didn't like it... but Bishop refused to leave without them.
Dr. Salim: Sounds like you were taking an awful risk.
F. Player: He said for the cure to work, he needed them. They weren't expendable. Technically, we were.
Dr. Salim: In a way, you and the NRC were not so different in what you wanted and how far you were willing to go.
F. Player: Our methods was different, our reasoning was not. No one wants to sacrifice themselves to save the world, but you like think if the moment came, you'd have it in you.
The three reach to a door of a cell and open it, as they then come across Lieutenant Khalil, who is strung up. Hendricks cuts him down, and Bishop checks on him.
Dr. Salim: Who was inside the cell?
F. Player: Lt. Zeyad Khalil. Member of the Egyptian Army. Back in '65, he was a Guard assigned to Bishop's research station. This was how we met. Hendricks cut him down and notified Taylor we were freeing the other hostages. Taylor said we didn't have the time. The base was swarming with additional NRC Forces, they weren't letting their prize go that easily. There was a tunnel full of hostile soldiers between us and our exit, a cargo elevator ahead was the only way to the surface. No telling how close the dead were behind us.
The Player, Hendricks, Khalil, and Bishop engage the Zombies and clear the area. They get on the cargo elevator and as they ascend, the NRC soldiers surrounded the rim and aim their weapons at the Player and the others.
F. Player: The remaining NRC forces were waiting for us above. They weren't about to let their prized prisoner go. If it meant getting the cure and saving their families, they were willing to die for it. They weren't the only ones.
Before the NRC soldiers can fire, they are taken down by Taylor's team.
F. Player: We'd never seen Deadkillers in action before... to us, it was a spectacle. To them... it was just another day in life... wait a minute...
Dolos: Do not be deceived by his lies... remember your past... remember when you first met John Taylor... remember the truth.
F. Player: W-Wait, this is wrong. This can't be real, I told you I met John Taylor in Zürich during the 2065 Cotardist Uprising AFTER I became a Deadkiller. But here I am with Taylor... AND MY LIMBS haven't been replaced yet. I'm still human.
Taylor, Hall, and Maretti activate their Active Camo.
F. Player: Why did you tell me that the first time I met Taylor was Zürich?
Dr. Salim: Focus. You need to complete this memory. What was Taylor's plan?
Diaz opens the door and uses Sensory Overload on the NRC.
F. Player: We were still on for exfil, but first we had to blow the bridge. We followed Diaz, both undead and NRC Forces were converging on our position.
The team move inside a hangar, as Diaz uses Blinding Swarm on the Zombies. The team move towards another hangar, while Taylor took care of the NRC Forces. They are then confronted by an A-51 II APC, as the Player shoots the VTOL's missiles and it falls down, destroying the APC. Diaz uses Concussive Wave near the door and the Zombies are killed. The door opens and Hall takes down a guard.
F. Player: Hall grabbed us after the Hangar. She was to take us to Maretti, so we could blow the bridge.
Hall wall-runs and leaps onto the technical, killing the gunner, detaches the MG, and uses it until it's empty. The team meet with Maretti, as multiple AFVs roll across the bridge and stop, laying down fire on the protagonist and allies. As more APCs approach, the bridge is blown, blocking further reinforcements as the team enters a nearby building.
F. Player: After the bridge, we were forced inside a comms center. Maretti took point, the rendezvous with Taylor was an APC garage just dead ahead.
The lights go out throughout the building, as the team uses EV to see the Zombies. Once the area is clear, the EV is disabled. Emerging, they are confronted by an enemy VTOL. Taylor leaps in and Thrust Jumps atop the pilot's canopy, taking out both enemies as the VTOL flies off unpiloted and crashes. The team engage with more NRC Forces and approach at the garage door, where they heard something.
F. Player: We could hear the undead screaming towards us... but that wasn't all. A Robot Horde was moving in. And Taylor would need some time to get the door open.
Ranks upon ranks of Zombies bear down on the team. Taylor eventually gets the door open as everyone, except Diaz, Maretti, and Hall, head inside.
Dr. Salim: You were forced into the garage. What happened there?
F. Player: Hendricks wanted to go back and get the other hostages. Taylor said Bishop was priority. After all, he had the cure. The rest were just... collateral.
Dr. Salim: What did Taylor do?
F. Player: He volunteered to take his team to get the others. We were to take Bishop and Khalil to exfil.
Taylor leaves the garage and Hendricks, Khalil, and Bishop pile into the APC.
F. Player: We got on the APC. Bishop was the most important man in the world right now. We had to get him to EXFIL if it killed us.
The Player gets on the APC turret. Hendricks drives the APC through the garage as the Player takes out a horde of Zombies, VTOLs, APCs, and Technicals. The APC crashes into an electrical substation and shuts off. Numerous grunts begin closing on the APC.
F. Player: The APC stalled on us. Hendricks needed a minute to get it going - and the undead and robots alike were crawling all over us.
Hendricks eventually restarts the engine and pulls the APC out. The team reaches to the exfil point, but the APC tips over from going off-road and the Player is thrown from her seat.
F. Player: We came in too fast, the APC spun out and crashed. Hendricks moved Bishop into position. The Drone EVAC was inbound. Once secured in the drop-pod, it would return to collect. We just needed to hold back the horde.
The Player and the rest of the team make their way to a nearby bluff and hold their position against waves of NRC and Zombies. A large container pod is detached and lands on the bluff. Bishop and Khalil enter the pod and as the Drone was ready for extraction, an explosion blows the Player away before she can enter the pod.
Cutscene[]
The drone picks up the pod and begins to fly away with the Player still on the ground.
Dr. Salim: What happened?
The pod takes off, leaving the Player behind.
F. Player: Airspace was compromised, they had to pull out. Bishop was priority. We were expendable, remember?
An NRC Robot grabs and throws the Player to the ground and the screen goes black.
F. Player: We heard Taylor over comms, he was inbound and told us to hang on.
F. Player: ...No. I can't do this. I can't live this again. No, please-
The screen fades back in and the Player attempts to fight off the NRC Robot.
Dr. Salim: I am sorry, you must.
The NRC Robot responds by grabbing and ripping out the Player's left arm causing her to scream out in pain. She continues to fight the NRC Robot.
F. Player: No, no, no, please-
The NRC Robot then smashes and crush the Player's right leg.
Dr. Salim: If you wish to defeat Deimos, you must. To save the world, you must relive this.
The Player tries to cover herself, but the NRC Robot grabs and rips out her right arm, leaving the Player defenseless as she is getting beaten to death.
F. Player: I should've died. I felt myself fade... it was over...
The screen goes black again.
F. Player: That was the day I met John Taylor. That was the day I became a Deadkiller.
The screen reappears again with Taylor and his team arriving and destroying the remaining NRC robots. The screen fades to black again and the mission ends.
