The Brazen Bull is a buildable Wonder Weapon Shield featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It is found on the map IX. Unlike other shields, the Brazen Bull includes another weapon, a katar.
Overview[]
The Brazen Bull functions like a more fantastical version of the Ballistic Shield from Voyage of Despair, thematically appropriate for IX's gladiatorial arena. As a shield, it can either be held in front of the player or worn on their back, blocking all damage from the respective direction. It can however take a finite amount of damage before it will break and need to be replaced, for a price, back at the table where it was built. Carpenter power-ups can repair the Brazen Bull to it's max health before it's destroyed.
Unlike most Zombie shields, the Brazen Bulls melee attack is not a bash but instead utilizes the Katar to attack. When the weapon is "fired" or the melee'd the player will swing the Katar twice in quick succession. The Katar has decent damage, able to one shot up to round 16 and two shot up to round 32. Swinging the Katar causes no damage to your shield, however Zombies are still able to attack the user and can quickly break the shield if the player isn't cautious with it.
As the Katar kills, the gems on it will begin to glow. After 9 kills all the gems will be glowing and the Katar will become engulfed in flames. During this time, Zombies struck with the Katar will begin to burn an take additional damage over time. There is no time limit on how long the Katar is lit, though it will extinguish after a few kills.
The Katar can be inserted into the Shield portion of the Brazen Bull by aiming with the weapon, transforming it into a projectile weapon. The Brazen Bull can fire flaming projectiles in bursts, directly out of the "nose" of the shield. These projectiles can kill fairly reliably in early rounds, but they cannot set zombies on fire even when the Katar is lit.
The Brazen Bull can be upgraded to the Iron Bull, gaining a new silver finish, a permanent green flame to the Katar and projectiles, and increased damage and durability.

Iron Bull Upgrade[]
To upgrade the Brazen Bull the player needs to collect three parts, which are the regular Brazen Bull parts but have a starry texture, in order.
- To get the first part, the player needs to shoot three metal bull heads with the Brazen Bull at the top of the Zeus tower.
- One is directly above the player on the ceiling
- One is above the Mystery Box location
- One is on a pillar above the Titan wall buy
- Afterwards, head to Pack-A-Punch in the Temple and look up at the dome. Once the player finds the part, shoot it with any weapon so it can fall down and collect it.
- For the second part, the player needs to follow a specific set of orders numerous times, without the shield breaking. If it breaks, the player has to start this whole process over.
- Get 8, and only 8, melee kills with the Brazen Bull
- Get a 9th melee kill with the Brazen Bull on a Catalyst, Brawler, or Gladiator. This will light the Katar on fire.
- When doing this step numerous times, it must be a different enemy the player melees every time
- Any 9th kill will light the Katar on fire, but the upgrade quest will only continue if the 9th kill is on one of the above enemy types
- Get melee kills with the Brazen Bull until the fire on the Katar goes out.
- Repeat the above 3 more times
- It is alright if the Brazen Bull gets destroyed and replaced during this, it will not reset your progress.
- After lighting the Katar on fire for a 4th time, DO NOT continue killing with it. Leave it lit.
- Once the player has done this, go down to the basement through the Zeus tower, and at the entrance of the Odin-Zeus Temple Entrance, a headless statue will have the second part in their hand.
- For the last step, the player needs the Katar to be on fire from the previous step. With the Katar on fire, melee kill a a Brawler and a Gladiator. The fire cannot go out during this step.
- Once the player has completed that, head to the Fallen Hero, and above one of the entrances will be the third part. Shoot it so that it falls down and collect it.
- With all three parts, the player can now head to the workbench where they originally built the Brazen Bull, and it should now give a prompt to acquire the Iron Bull.
Trivia[]
- The Brazen Bulls name comes from the torture device of the same name which were often built to depict a bull in design.
