Unlike other Call of Duty games, DLC was released at a monthly rate for Call of Duty ELITE Premium customers in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. There are nine "Content Packs" containing 22 "Content Drops" of new multiplayer/survival maps, special ops missions, and more. This was originally meant to be 20 instead of 22 but this changed during the month of May 2012. For non-ELITE players, the maps were released later in Content Collections containing multiple Content Packs.
