Call of Duty has a variety of "better looking" characters than in the original Call of Duty and Call of Duty: United Offensive with their same basic faces.
- Lt. Dimitri Volsky/Red Army
- Volsky was the leader of the player's Russian squad in a majority of the levels.
- Pvt. Donnie McCloskey/2nd Ranger Battalion
- McCloskey is a Private in the 2nd Ranger Battalion and company gunner in a level.
- Pvt. Braeburn/2nd Ranger Battalion
- Braeburn is a member of the 2nd Ranger Battalion and a radio man in the game, he is killed or wounded on Hill 400.
- Pvt. Henderson/2nd Ranger Battalion
- Henderson is a member of the 2nd Ranger Battalion, his recognizable voice is heard on the levels Pointe du Hoc and Rangers Lead the Way, he is killed on Hill 400.
- Lt. Leonov/Red Army
- Leonov is the group leader in the level Demolitions, he is not seen or mentioned any further into the game.
- Sgt. Randall/2nd Ranger Battalion
- Randall is the American group leader due to the fact that the Lieutenants are killed or wounded and he takes control. He is promoted to Lieutenant after the attack on the Rhine German city of Wallender by Col Blake.
- Col. Blake/2nd Ranger Battalion
- He is in command of the 2nd Ranger Battalion; he is heard on the radio in "The Silo" talking to Braeburn and seen in the last level recommending a promotion for Randall.
- Commissar Letlev/Red Army
- Letlev is a Commissar of the Red Army, he is seen in the first level and trains the four man group.
- Unnamed German prisoner/German Military
- In the first level there is an unnamed German prisoner who gives away information on a German attack, he is executed by Commissar Letlev
- Cpt. Price (World War II)/British Army
- Price is a captain in the 7th Armored Division, he commands MacGregor, John Davis and many others. He is the same Capt. Price in Call of Duty who was killed on Tirpitz. His part in Call of Duty 2 simply takes place before that. He is not a "reincarnation" as someone stated.

- MacGregor is a hot tempered Scottish soldier in the British 7th Armored Division under the command of Captain Price
