The Call of Duty Wiki is many things. This page lists what the Call of Duty Wiki is not.

Content

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#CRYSTAL

...a crystal ball

The Call of Duty Wiki cannot predict the future, nor is it a place to theorize certain things. Articles are not the place for speculation of any kind. Any future content should be confirmed by an official source before being used in main space articles, and theories/overall speculation should be left out altogether.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#GENERAL

...a general gaming news site

Although the Call of Duty Wiki may have news blogs on recent developments in the Call of Duty franchise, we are by no means a place where we report on all forms of news in gaming. We are not IGN or GameSpot; those sites exist for the purpose of providing general gaming news, but the Call of Duty Wiki is here to document everything Call of Duty, and thus, only Call of Duty-related news will be provided.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#OFFTOPIC

...a site for anything not on Call of Duty

Some games in the Call of Duty series are a bunch of World War II shooters, as we all know. Just because many of our articles are about World War II does not mean that other World War II things (like Medal of Honor, Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan) should be written about here.

This doesn't have to just apply to World War II topics, though. Any pages, or content within pages, that aren't related to Call of Duty will be removed.

It should be noted however this part of the policy only applies to mainspace articles. Non-Call of Duty discussion is allowed within the chat room, as well as on user created blogs (within reason).

...always correct

While editors strive to present clear and accurate information, sometimes an article may contain information that is inconsistent or incorrect. Mistakes are usually fixed by editors, but occasionally an error might not be identified or fixed. It is important to assume good faith and help the wiki by amending mistakes to improve the accuracy and quality of articles. Where possible, include references that verify facts and use article discussion pages to clarify edit conflicts.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#FANON

...fanon

There are two things in most fictional universes: canon and fanon.

Canon is official stuff, like Brooklyn getting killed by artillery, MacTavish's nickname "Soap," and the 2nd Ranger Battalion taking Wellendar.

Fanon can be two things. It can be fan fiction (fan[ficti]on), and it can be unofficial, but most of the time widely accepted facts. A prime example is that the character Ghost is actually Gaz.

Call of Duty Wiki may unintentionally contain fanon, but we attempt to keep it off.

The dedicated Call of Duty Fanon Wiki is located here.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#GUIDE

...a strategy guide

The Call of Duty Wiki is not a place where individual and opinionated strategies may be incorporated into mainspace articles. Users should refrain from putting any instructions, opinions, or views that instruct users to do things mainspace articles. Suggestions that are unbiased and backed up with in game facts however are acceptable.

...an advertising site

The wiki is not a form of advertising, it is an encyclopedia, not a social media, or file sharing site. Anything related to advertisement will be removed.

...tech support

While the Wiki has information on the game, it does not have the needed information to troubleshoot any issues users may have. It may still be possible to ask users about issues in case they have had similar issues, but at our core we don't have the needed tools or expertise to adequately help those that require technical assistance.

Community

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#BATTLEFIELD

...a battlefield

Forums and other community discussions are not the place to hold personal grudges, conflicts, or even prejudice. Battling it out with another user or a group of users is not only not acceptable, but neither of you will win. Solve any disputes with civility, and avoid letting them take center stage for everyone else to bear witness.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#BLOG

...a blog

Simple. The Call of Duty Wiki is not a blog. We may have blogs as a part of this website, but this is an encyclopedia about all things Call of Duty.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#DEMO
COD:NOT#DEMOCRACY

...a democracy

Rather than follow a majority rules system, the Call of Duty Wiki goes by community consensus.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#CLAN

...a clan

Though it's quite possible that multiple members of the Call of Duty Wiki may be in the same clan, we are not a clan.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#DICTATOR

...a dictatorship

The Call of Duty Wiki is not ruled by one person without question.

...an oligarchy

The Call of Duty Wiki is not ruled by a select group of people without question.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#REPUBLIC

...a republic

We do not vote on a single user to be the leader of us for a set amount of time.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#OFFICIAL

...official

This site is 100% fan-maintained. Everyone here is just fans. No one here (barring the rare) works for any of the Call of Duty developers.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#OTHER

...other wikis

While the Call of Duty Wiki is part of the Fandom network, we are not any other wiki. As such, anything that other wikis do is not important or relevant to us. Just because another wiki has/doesn't have something cannot be the sole reasoning as to why we should/should not have it. It is also not the place to dispute bans of other Wikis. Even if users are editors on other Wikis, they should be spoken to on the Wiki in question.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#WP
COD:NOT#WIKIPEDIA

...Wikipedia

Even though the format of this site and Wikipedia is similar, and the basis that it is an encyclopedia that anyone can edit, Call of Duty Wiki is not Wikipedia. It is not even owned by the Wikimedia Foundation. Call of Duty Wiki is owned by Fandom.

Shortcut:
COD:NOT#DISC
COD:NOT#DISCUSSIONS

...discussions

The Wiki does not affiliate itself with the Call of Duty Wiki Discussions page. Anything done there is not affiliated with us.

Afternote

Do not use this policy as a filibuster in forums. Entire ideas need not be shot down just because another wiki was used as an example.
