CoDferences are occasional meetings of Call of Duty Wiki editors to discuss various agenda items. Everyone can participate in these gatherings. It can be considered an extension of War Room matters, but is by no means a replacement. CoDference discussion will always be made public after the organized meeting for those unable to attend.

Registered users may suggest agenda items on the talk page. An admin may add a suggestion to the agenda if deemed fit for discussion.

How to join

CoDferences are held over the freenode IRC network, in the Call of Duty Wiki's official channel for the meeting (#wikia-codference). We suggest using an IRC client such as ChatZilla to connect to the channel , but you may use a web-based one (see the IRC gate at the bottom of this page) as well.

Please note, however, that you must have a minimum of 50 main namespace edits to receive voice (+v), which enables you to talk in the channel. You are welcome to join the channel during scheduled meetings, but you will be unable to send messages unless you meet this requirement. If you are uncertain of how many main namespace edits you have, you can check on this page.

Additionally please use your Wikia username as your IRC nick. We want people to be easily identifiable.

The channel will be locked until the CoDference itself, due to it not being needed until the CoDference. When the channel is opened for a CoDference (typically 15 minutes prior to the meeting), please arrive in a timely manner. We will only wait 5 minutes for late arrivals before starting the CoDference, so joining the channel as soon is possible is preferable.

The first CoDference is scheduled for August 6, 2011.

Agenda

1. Simplifying utility templates - I may have had this on my parody design of the CoDference page, but it's an actual concern of mine: It's becoming increasingly difficult to determine the purpose of a template with a one-liner from a Call of Duty game, and typically one that is not very fitting for the template. 2. Possibility of a wiki clan event - Chia has brought this up before: We don't really do much with the wiki's clan to even call it a clan. Logistics can be discussed for a community event, but a suggested idea was hosting a private match (perhaps multiple) on each platform for Black Ops. 4. Image macros in blog comments - These are becoming increasingly common, and as someone else put it, it's making us seem more like the /b/ than anything else. 5. Ban certain war room topics - There are some War Room topics which don't have a chance in passing and are better off not being suggested in the first place. Such topics include Banning/Restricting blogging, which has failed many times in the past.      21:39, July 27, 2011 (UTC)

   Speaking with Callofduty4 previously on this matter, this would be more of a list of previously rejected proposals, and provide the reasoning. It's more to keep repeat topics that are destined to fail from reoccurring. Creating one of these topics with different or sufficient reasoning to overrule the status quo, however, would be cause to let the topic run its due course. 6. Limiting news blogs to a "news team" - News blogs should be left to people who know how to do them best, and we want to make a good impression on site visitors.
