Logining in with usernameEdit

Why do we have to do that? I perrsonaly like my nick on IRC to be different from IRC. Why are we to restrict that? 22px-1888721.png Azuristalk 16:40, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

I'm guessing so that people don't have to paly a guessing game everytime they log on. Isn't there a War Room discussion about this? Cpl. Wilding 17:01, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
There was, but it was closed after, what, two hours? I see no reason for me to log in as CodExpert every time I join, I tell the users on my userpage my nicks and if hven't read them, I'll tell them and they'll remember. 22px-1888721.png Azuristalk 17:07, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Dude, that's pretty stupid. It really is frustrating to try to figure out who people are because of their stupid nicks. Shotrocket6 17:14, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Dude, no it's not. Instead of going through all that trouble trying to figure out who someone is because of their "stupd nick", just ask them. 22px-1888721.png Azuristalk 19:56, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
While I can see you point CE, when someone sees 10 users with all kinds of nicks and they are changing them all the time, it gets frustrating. You got a room full of unfamiliar nicks, I for one feel kinda stupid asking everybody who they are. It's a waaste of my time. Then we have the guessing game. "Guess who I am?" Thats irritating. I can see nick abbreviations such as C_E, lots of ppl know you as that. Thats fine. Users can relate to it. Nicks that in no way even relate to the users wiki name is what I'm talking about. Personal WHISKEY35 signature Talk 20:28, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
I see no problem with it, and this is my opinion, but I don't care if a user asks me who I am. Nick spam is the only thing I see as a problem but that can easily be brought to a hault with the kick command and etc. There is already an ammendment on this page that confirms spamming (and yes, changing your nick multiple times over and over again is spam) as breaking COD:IRC. So why ban users from having a nick that is to their liking? If the target of elimination from the new ammendment of the policy is nick spam, that is already stated in COD:IRC. Although I agree nicks like "Guess_who_I_am" are annoying, I see no persuasive reason for me to change my nick in IRC and keep it CodExpert or C_E. 22px-1888721.png Azuristalk 20:38, July 20, 2010 (UTC)
In my opinion, you should be required to get a cloak, and until you get a wikia/<username> cloak, you need to use your wiki username. Once you do, you can use any other nickname you want. I mean, the /whois <nick> command exists for a reason. SactageTalkEditcountContribs 01:47, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
It really is unnneeded to have to type /whois <nick>. We should just be able to look at it and know who it is. Cpl. Dunn(Talk) 21:57, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

IRC capability Edit

Does IRC work on a Mac laptop? Bumblebeeprime09 20:52, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Yes. I used a Macbook January through June. Shotrocket6 20:54, July 21, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it never loads on mine. Bumblebeeprime09 05:39, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

try logging in here TheManOfIron 05:43, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

It is different from the other version (The version that is used on my sisters laptop that i steal at night), and i do not know how to work it. Bumblebeeprime09 06:06, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Now this version (webchat) doesn't work. I go to the site, and it says "connect to freenode IRC", but nothing else pops up, when textboxes for the irc nick and channel, as well as the connect button, should be there, when they are not. I have the same problem with bumbleeprime09. Isn't there a way around the webchat thingy or something JstarRE 02:42, August 12, 2010 (UTC)

Updates just now Edit

CE: you added an apostrophe in from of "from" in there. And you might want to simply start a new line and use : to save coding. --Good editing! Darthkenobi0(talk) 23:53, August 28, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for informing me. And remember next time you can just do it yourself and fix any mistakes that are made or do some coding changes. :) --azuris_ 18:59, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

The page is sysop-only, or I would have. --Good editing! Darthkenobi0(talk) 19:01, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

D:, well then... I guess you should disregard what I said last. But the thank you still stands. --azuris_ 19:03, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Any idea why it's sysop only? I've edited it in the past (namely just to add JJR to the list since he wasn't on) --Good editing! Darthkenobi0(talk) 19:06, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

My guess would be is so that no one tampers with the rules, since it is the official policies of IRC. --azuris_ 19:10, August 29, 2010 (UTC)
Makes sense. Well then... I guess in order to vandalize it I'll just have to hijack Chia's account and give myself crat flags!!! MUAHAHAHHAA (not really I just ran out of things to say, don't PENALIZE ME FOR JOKING) --Good editing! Darthkenobi0(talk) 19:12, August 29, 2010 (UTC)

Shouldn't we really have a link to COD:IRC/B on this page? It is to do with the IRC, after all. Sgt. S.S. 20:02, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

Question about adding certain Trivia Edit

The mission, "Dust to Dust" has a mistake that's obviously from the developers' sloppiness. The Arabic text is written backwards, and the characters aren't connected. This makes the text completely incorrect. I tried to add that to the trivia but someone deleted it, saying that there wasn't enough proof. What proof would I need? It's a fact that the Arabic was written incorrectly. However, do I need a picture or something? Thank you

TheArabKnight 08:31, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

What does this have to do with IRC? Anyway, just get a picture of the incorrect writing. elmo's Elmo 150px ramblings 10:30, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Someone told me to ask my question here.... TheArabKnight 19:00, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

He was talking about IRC chat, not the talk page. wM6YJ.pngAces! - WordswM6YJ.png 19:03, December 26, 2011 (UTC)

Hey, Maybe it would be good idea to remove it or add some information that this chat is deprecated ? --TomekO (talk) 03:32, July 15, 2012 (UTC)
