Citadelle des Morts (French for: Citadel of the Dead) is a Zombies map featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. The map was released on December 5th, 2024 as part of the Season One Reloaded update.

Overview[]

The map takes place in an ancient castle located in the Principality of Avalon bordering the Mediterranean Coast. After the former operatives of Requiem, Maya Aguinaldo, and William Peck carry out an incursion at the Blacksite on Terminus Island discover about an ancient relic known as the Sentinel Artifact where Edward Richtofen is obsessed about, and that it would be located somewhere in the Principality of Avalon, the team embarks on a new incursion.

Maya's Revenge Side Quest[]

(Note: This quest can only be done on Standard Mode.)

In the Dining Hall area, near the Vulture Aid perk machine, there is a radio that can only be interacted with if the player is playing as Maya Aguinaldo starting on Round 13 or higher. This allows the player to enter a separate area where they kill several zombies, before triggering a cutscene with Francois "Franco" Moreau. After the cutscene ends, the player will be returned to the Dining Hall, where they will be rewarded with a Legendary-tier GS45 and other random loot.

Weaponry Easter Egg[]

  • The Bastard Swords are a set of four melee based wonder weapons that can be obtained for free and is required for Main Quest.

Musical Easter Egg[]

  • The song Slave can be activated by interacting with three Mister Peeks-themed headphones scattered around the map.
    • In the Tavern on top of a round table, between the workbench and armor wallbuy.
    • Inside the Courtyard right after passing Speed Cola. After entering the courtyard, take a right and another right immediately.
    • In the Undercroft Stairway, directly right of the red sofa.
  • The track Caliburn can be activated by using the upgraded sword of the same name to melee the three unlit dragon-themed braziers featured in the upgrade process.
    • On the Village Ramparts.
    • In the Nature Path, next to the portcullis to the Town Square.
    • In the Town Square, near to the Rampage Inducer.

Miscellaneous Easter Eggs[]

  • Free PhD Flopper Perk - Around the map are three bottles of alcohol that the player can pick up and place down on a drink tray found on the bar in the tavern. The player's weapons will be temporarily removed and zombies will now approach the bar requesting a drink. The player must hand out the correctly colored drink to each zombie's order, who will reward the player 100 Essence for each correct drink. After enough drinks have been correctly distributed, the player will be rewarded 7000 Essence and PhD Flopper for free. The locations of the three bottles required to start the bartender easter egg are:
    • In the Undercroft, underneath the fold-up table to the left of red couch.
    • In the Sitting Rooms, on the bottom shelf of the rack to the right of the couch facing the television.
    • In the Dining Room, underneath the fold-up table to the right of the red couch.
  • Rat King Easter Egg:
    1. In the Town Square, there is a glass display with several cheeses on them. Break the glass and take the wheel of cheese at the bottom.
    2. There are 10 locations where small rats/mice can be seen hiding. Interact with them in the following locations (no specific order):
      • In the Town Square, underneath a flower pot just to the right of the door that leads to the Nature Path.
      • On the Nature Path, outside of a hole beneath a circular stone structure in front of the Deadshot Daiquiri Perk Machine.
      • In the Village Ascent, beneath the pizza truck with road work signs.
      • Underneath a broken step in the southeastern-most wooden stairs that are next to the Lion Cannon.
      • In the Dining Hall, opposite of the Ammo Crate beneath a wooden pallet.
      • In the Sitting Rooms, beneath a small wooden bench that is between bed bunks.
      • In the Alchemical Lab, behind the stone tablet underneath the table.
      • In the Undercroft, next to a hole on the middle of the western-most wall.
      • In the Dungeon, on the floor of the jail cell to the left of the KSV wall buy.
    3. When all mice have been interacted with, move to the Pack-a-Punch room (Oubliette Room) and in the northeastern-most corner there will be several mice gathered on the floor around an empty plate.
    4. Place the wheel of cheese that was previously grabbed on the empty plate. The rats will then proceed to eat it and give the player different rewards, including:
      • Points
      • Ammo Mods
      • Random Perks
      • Weapons
      • Monkey Bombs/Kazimirs
    5. A royal crown will appear on the empty place to be picked up. The player that equips it will have it worn until they either exfil or fail the map.
  • Floating Mr. Peeks Easter Egg:
    1. For the best results, equip a weapon with a sniper scope for greater precision.
    2. Head to the Elemental Pop Perk Machine room and look through the southeastern-most window. A floating Mr. Peeks can be seen slightly above the tree seen through the window. Shoot it and move to the next location. (Mr. Peeks can only be seen through this window. Any attempts to look for it besides said window will make it non-visible.)
    3. Go inside the barn where the Deadshot Daiquiri Perk Machine sits outside and look through the hole in the wall above the Mystery Box spawn. A dancing Mr. Peeks can be seen inside a broken wall of the castle and is able to be shot.
    4. The third location is in the Dining Hall where the four knight statues are locate. Go to the upper floor and head to the southeastern-most corner. Look up to the castle's roof and a tower with a red pointy roof can be seen; beneath said roof is a small window where another Mr. Peeks can be seen dancing. Shoot it and move towards the final Dungeon area.
    5. To the left of the Ammo Crate there is a cell with a Mr. Peeks doll sitting on a bed. Shoot it and soon every player in the map will receive a random perk.
  • Lockdown Easter Egg:
    1. Progress through the Main Easter Egg until all Bastard Swords have been upgraded, all Incantations steps have been completed and the Symbols steps have been completed.
    2. When the symbols on the wall inside the Undercroft have disappeared, obtain an Incantation and use it on the symbol wall; the top row of symbols will then light up.
    3. Grab a different Incantation and use it on the symbol wall again; the second row will light up the same way the first row did. Repeat the process with the remaining Incantations until all rows have lit up.
    4. When all rows have been lit, the Undercroft will enter lockdown mode - the exits will be barred with purple flames and three phases of zombie attacks will then spawn.
    5. Survive the three phase zombie attacks. Once the attacks have seized, the lockdown will and a Random Perk Power-Up will spawn, as well as four different Ammo Mods that can be equipped.
  • Chess Protector Easter Egg:
    1. Grab four different chess pieces that are located around the map. They can be found:
      • On the table next to the Dragon statue where the Bastard Sword is placed.
      • In the basement area of the Tavern, on the lower shelves opposite of the Crafting Table.
      • In the Elemental Pop Perk Machine room, on a table to the right of the door that leads to the main entrance of the castle.
      • In the Dungeon, on a table next to the Point of Power trap.
    2. Move to the Sitting Rooms and interact with the chess board sitting on the table in the middle of the room. A small purple circular area will engulf the room, and the player must stand inside said circle whilst defending themselves against the horde of zombies.
    3. Once the chess board collects enough souls from the slain zombies, a human-sized blue hologram of a knight chess piece will appear, and will remain in the game damaging zombies and following the player for a few minutes.
  • Fast Travel Easter Egg:
    1. Crank the wheel of the Lion Cannon and fire it to open the door to the castle. The crank wheel will then shoot out in the direction of the Town Square.
    2. Return to the Town Square and beneath the pile of rubble that blocks the Town Square from the rest of the citadelle, the crank wheel can be seen inside an empty fruit box and can be picked up.
    3. Head to the Dining Hall and pick up the blow torch located in the northeastern-most corner of the room, beneath the Vulture Aid Perk Machine.
    4. Return to the Lion Cannon and insert the crank wheel in its original spot. Rotate it to its full extent and the Cannon will be facing the Dining Hall, which is now be an additional location to which the player can shoot themselves to.
  • Bell Tower Easter Egg:
    1. Complete the Fast Travel Easter Egg and shoot out of the Lion Cannon a total of 99 times.
    2. During the 100th time, rotate the Cannon toward the Town Square and shoot towards it. The trajectory will have changed slightly, having the player hit the bell tower instead of sliding down the roof of the tavern.
    3. Once the player hits the bell tower, two Monkey Bombs will fall out of it, and the bell itself will start to ring and will turn into a beacon that attracts all nearby zombies. The ringing will persist for 30 seconds, after which the tower will return to normal. No additional rewards will be granted to the player.
  • Wishing Well Easter Egg:
    1. Have Vulture Aid equipped.
    2. During a Max Ammo Round, head towards the well located in the center of the Village Ascent. Wait for a vermin to climb out of the well and throw a cooked frag grenade inside of it.
    3. The resulting explosion will spit out several Essence capsules, up to a total of 1000 Essence. The player can pick up the Essence and throw it back in the well, up to a maximum of 10 000 Essence.
    4. Wait for the following Max Ammo Round and throw another grenade inside the well. The Essence that was previously deposited can be picked up again, not only for the player but the rest of the crew as well.
      • To maximize the amount of Essence gained from the well, throw the maximum 10 000 Essence inside the well and wait for the next Max Ammo Round. Then, before throwing the frag grenade inside the well, consume a Double Points Power-Up and a Profit Sharing Gobblegum to maximize the amount of Essence that can then be retrieved by the player and the team.
  • Fireplace Protector Easter Egg:
    1. Have either a full set of Molotov Cocktails or a fully charged Caliburn Sword.
    2. Throw a Molotov/swing the fully charged Caliburn Sword on the four fireplaces that are located around the map. They can be found:
      • In the northern-most wall of the Dining Hall.
      • In the Sitting Rooms, to the left of the Stamin-Up Perk Machine.
      • In the Alchemical Room, under a table on the southwestern-most corner.
      • In the Tavern, to the right of the Arsenal machine.
    3. All fireplaces have to be interacted within a short amount of time.
    4. Depending on the last fireplace that was interacted, the fireplace will shoot out orbs of fire that target and kill zombies.
    5. This Easter Egg can be activated again after a few rounds.

Free Power-Up Easter Eggs[]

Opening Cutscene Transcript

The scene opens with a fade in from black. A chyron at the bottom right corner of the screen reads:

PRINCIPALITY OF AVALON

2/25/1991

0650 Hours

The camera pans by several empty bottles left on a table. Sergei Ravenov is drinking and smoking while looking at a photo while Francois "Franco" Moreau is trying to speak to him on the radio.

Franco: Sergei, your services are required. The Professor needs another beating.

Ravenov puts his drink down on the table and looks at a photo of himself and Samantha Maxis. The phrase "Forever in your debt" -Maxis is seen written on the back of the photo.

Franco: Are you there?!

Ravenov ignores Franco and continues to smoke as he stares at the photo. Ravenov uses the end of his cigarette to burn his face in the photo.

Franco: Why did I hire that drunk?

Suddenly, the alarm goes off, prompting Ravenov to stop burning the photo.

Franco: Laurent, check the alarm!

Ravenov gets up from his seat, aiming his GS45 at the door. Ravenov suddenly appears shocked and lowers his weapons as Grigori Weaver, Elizabeth Grey, Maya Aguinaldo and Mackenzie Carver enter the room.

Ravenov: Weaver? I thought... you were dead.

Weaver pulls back the curtain and looks outside, spotting a large statue outside.

Weaver: If it were only that simple.

The camera then moves to see Maya, Carver and William Peck showing up at the Castle Tower Room. Ravenov then angrily points his pistol at Peck.

Ravenov: Why the fuck is this rat-bastard with you?

Weaver steps fowards and places his hand on Ravenov's pistol, lowering it.

Weaver: We're looking for a man named Krafft--

Grey: Who may know how to bring back Maxis.

Ravenov then thinks for a quick moment.

Ravenov: Krafft is our prisoner. We were offered millions to find out something only he knows. But, he won't talk. Not even to me.

Maya then walks up to Ravenov and takes a drink and puts the drink down. Ravenov then looks at Maya.

Ravenov: And, who are you?

Maya: I'm the one who is gonna kill your boss. That a problem?

Suddenly, zombies are heard making sounds offscreen. Franco then patches in the radio to Ravenov.

Franco: Ravenov, where the fuck are you?!

Ravenov: I am thinking of doing the same.

Just then, a zombie crashes through the window. Peck wrestles with it as a second zombie jumps in, which Carver grabs and pins against the wall. Maya then stabs the zombie in the head with her Karambit Knife.

Maya: This kinda shit happen everywhere you fuckin' go?!

Maya rips her knife out of the zombie's head as Peck continues to struggle with the first zombie. Just then, Ravenov shoots and kills the zombie with his pistol, spewing blood onto Peck's face. Surprised, Peck looks up at Ravenov, who lowers his pistol and scoffs at Peck. Grey, Maya and Carver exit through the breached window, though as Ravenov tries to go outside with them, Weaver stops him.

Weaver: You are in no condition to fight. Stay on comms. Guide us to Krafft.

Weaves pauses and looks back at Ravenov.

Weaver: And try not to kill Peck.

Weaver jumps out the window as the screen cuts to black.

Maya's Revenge Cutscene Transcript

NOTE: This cutscene is only viewable if the player is playing as Maya Aguinaldo and completes the Maya's Revenge side quest.

After locking himself in the wine cellar, Franco backs away from the door.

Franco: Okay... Okay... The door should keep her out.

On the other side of the door, Maya can be heard tampering with the door. Franco cautiously walks up to the door and puts his ear next to it. Just then, Maya primes an explosive, alerting Franco as he dives away from the door just as it explodes. As the room becomes engulfed in smoke, Maya repositions as Franco blindly fires into the open doorway with his pistol. Franco then runs out of bullets, promting Maya to enter the room. Franco desperately throws his empty pistol at Maya, who calmly strafes away from the gun.

Franco: Why won't you just fucking die?!

Maya glances at her pistol, terrifying Franco, who scrambles backwards on the floor.

Franco: Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait! Killing me... Killing me won't bring your brother back! You know he wouldn't want this.

After pausing for a moment, Maya shoots Franco's kneecaps with her pistol, causing him to scream in pain. Maya crouches down to face Franco, coldly staring at him.

Maya: Oh, this isn't for Nathan.

Maya stands back up and readies her pistol.

Maya: This is for me.

Maya then aims her pistol at Franco, who vainly reaches for her. Maya executes Franco with a single shot to the head. Maya stares at Franco's body before exiting the room as the fire triggered from her explosive continues to spread. The screen fades to black.

Ending Cutscene Transcript

In the dungeon, Weaver, Grey, Carver, Maya, Ravenov and Peck rush up to Krafft's cell, which is revealed to have been breached by the undead. Inside the cell, two zombies viciously attack Krafft. Ravenov guns the zombies down using an AK-74 as he enters the cell with Weaver. Weaver drags one of the dead zombies off of Krafft, revealing that he had been mortally wounded from the attack and was now bleeding profusely. Grey enters the cells and helps Weaver lift Krafft up. Grey holds Krafft upright as Weaver takes out the amulet and Ravenov kneels down to listen.

Weaver: Krafft, we need to know: what do we do with the amulet?

Krafft: Take it to the excavation site... but beware the Sentinel Artifact... (coughs) It could... consume you.

Krafft groans in pain, coughing and wheezing as he nears his end.

Weaver: And Richtofen? Where is he? We know he contacted you.

Krafft: Please, please... don't kill him. He, he is... my son.

Krafft passes away from his wounds as Weaver looks at him in disbelief.

Weaver: He's your... He's your what?

Grey gently rests Krafft down on the ground.

Grey: I don't think he knew he was raising a monster until it was too late.

Ravenov: The dig site he mentioned. It is not far.

Weaver, Grey and Ravenov stand up and prepare the leave. Weaver stares at Krafft's body one last time before leaving with the others. The camera focuses on Krafft's body before the screen fades to black.
