During the development of Call of Duty games, many things are cut during the process of development. These changes can range from weapons and characters to entire campaign missions and features.

Campaign[]

Characters[]

Name Image Description
Michael Carver Some scripts for the cut missions mention a character named Michael Carver who was the original USMC protagonist, replaced by Jackson in the final build.
Sgt. Newcastle A character named Sgt Newcastle was cut when F.N.G. was shortened.

Missions[]

Art Gallery The only evidence of its existence is a skybox texture present in the game's mod tools called "sky_artgallery.
Chechnya Escape While no remnants of the mission remain in the final game, it can be found playable in some pre-alpha builds.
Cobra Pilot Cobrapilot Scrapped late in production. Several previews of Call of Duty 4 reference this mission despite being absent in the full-game.
Descent Files reveal the mission would've taken place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The player's team would be U.S. Marines. The INFO string identifies the Marines as "entering an underground command bunker".
Designated Marksman CoD4 Marksman Minimap All that proves its existence is a file called "compass_map_marksman.iwi" present in the source files.

AH-1 Cobra AH-1 CoD4 Intended to be fully flyable as shown by the files "cobra_controls1.cfg" and "cobra_controls2.cfg". One can also find a string labeled "cobra_player" within the files.
M2A2 Bradley M2A2 Bradley CoD4 Game files has animations for moving, suggesting it would've been a playable vehicle.

MG42 Mg42icon 4 Appears in the game files, along with its textures from Call of Duty 2.
Uzi Originally meant to be featured in-game, but it was cut during development. It was replaced by the Mini-Uzi.

The maps Ambush, District, Overgrown and Strike had planned night-variations in the form of Ambush Night, District Night, Overgrown Night and Strike Night.

Gamemodes[]

Tag Score points by being "it"; kill the "it" player to become "it".
Acquisition Score points by holding onto the flag.

Perks[]

AT4 x2 Specialty weapon at4 Perk icon remains. Rather than the RPG-7 x2 Perk, there was going to be AT4 x2 instead.
Expose Enemy Specialty exposeenemy Perk icon remains. It's unknown how it would've functioned.

AC-130 Killstreak[]

The Multiplayer weapons folder has files for 25mm, 40mm, and 105mm ammunition for the AC-130, suggesting it was originally going to be a Killstreak. There's also an unused AC-130 model in the game files.
