The Disciple is a Special class enemy featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III in the Zombies mode. In Black Ops Cold War, it was introduced in the map Mauer der Toten, with a weakness against the Dead Wire Ammo Mod. It was later added to Outbreak during Season Five.
In Mauer Der Toten, they are first encountered when the captured Strike Team confronts the Dark Aether to unlock the Pack-a-Punch Machine, then appearing as uncommon enemies afterwards.
In Black Ops 6, the Disciple makes an appearance in the campaign mission, Emergence, where William "Case" Calderon needs to kill one named Executive Director after going under the hallucinogen effects of The Cradle. The Disciple also returns in the map Shattered Veil as an Elite Class enemy named the Elder Disciple, which in addition to Dead Wire, also has a weakness against the Light Mend Ammo Mod.
Overview[]
Black Ops Cold War/Modern Warfare III[]
Disciples are able to enhance standard zombies, causing them to smoke and their eyes to glow purple. Within this state, the Zombies gain increased health and will be forced into a more aggressive state, being faster in movement and attack speed.
Disciples can also spawn enhanced zombies when attacking the player. Although they can spawn and enhance standard zombies, they cannot spawn Heavy Zombies or Armored Zombies, also lacking the ability to enhance elite enemies.
Whilst near to a player, Disciples will utilize a beam attack called "Drain Life" which deals consistent damage that can be interrupted by shooting the hand projecting the beam. This beam also heals the Disciple in a proportionate amount to the amount of damage dealt.
Black Ops 6[]
The Disciple returns in Black Ops 6 as an Elite enemy named the Elder Disciple with a few key differences. It now has much greater support potential at the cost of losing any direct means of healing or attack apart from a deafening roar which can stun a nearby player.
Similar to its Cold War counterpart, the Elder Disciple can spawn and buff standard level zombies in its vicinity with increased speed and health. Whilst near any zombie, the Elder Disciple will attempt to use its beam to forcefully send its target to the next stage of its evolutionary journey, turning Zombies into Vermin, Vermin into Parasites, Parasites into Doppelghasts and Doppelghasts into Amalgams. Buffed enemies are showcased by a different glow from prior entries, now emitting a more violent blue fire rather than the purple smoky haze that denoted them.
The Elder Disciple is weak to the Dead Wire and Light Mend Ammo Mods, taking 50% more damage from those elemental sources which can be increased to 75% with the Vulnera Bean Minor Augment for Elemental Pop.
History[]
- "By my hand the Forsaken shall be undone. He may have enslaved my Disciples - but he shall not enslave me."
- — Sparagmos
Before the arrival of the Forsaken, the Disciples were aligned with the Zealot Sparagmos, an entity within the Dark Aether who aligned himself with the ruling Old Ones. However, they became enslaved to the Forsaken during his brutal conquest of the Dark Aether.
Disciples would first appear on Earth during the incursion in Berlin, where they assisted in Aleksandra Valentina's attack. They would then soon begin appearing in the Ural Mountains Outbreak Zone, as well as newer Outbreak Zones in Algeria and the North Atlantic Ocean. They would also appear during the Forsaken's arrival at Test Site Anna.
Disciples reappear 6 years later in Liberty Falls as Elder Disciples in Sam Colton Hall. Their relation to the Forsaken's Disciples was unclear as they were sporting different robes and accessories.
Disciples were also present in the Zaravan Exclusion Zone in 2021, with one Disciple, known as the Stormcaller, periodically creating Aether Storms inside the outbreak zone.
