Diving to prone is an ability featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops.
In Game
In Call of Duty: Black Ops, the player is able to Dive to prone, this allows the player to get quickly into/out of fire. The player also needs to wait a few seconds to be able to get back up. The dive is activated by holding the prone/crouch button while sprinting. This move has been said to be purely defensive.
Whilst jumping, the player cannot use his weapon, and there is a small recovery time that the player cannot use his weapon afterwards. This has been confirmed by Treyarch.
Trivia
- This is very similar to Halo: Reach's Evade armor ability.
- AI is able to Dive and Roll in the Singleplayer Campaign and in combat training mode.
