"Feed Mein Dragon! FEED!"
— Richtofen when using the dragon strike.

The Dragon Strike is a Wonder Weapon that appears in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies map Gorod Krovi. The weapon works similarly to the G-Strike, as it can be used to mark a certain location for the Dragons to fire at whilst luring the Zombies into the location of attack. It is used during the Easter Egg, Love and War.

Obtaining the Dragon Strike[]

In order to obtain the Dragon Strike, the player must go to the Hatchery. Once there, the player must activate a lockdown event via interacting with the crystal on the top floor. In co-op, all players must interact with the crystal to start the lockdown. Note that a Max Ammo spawns in the air requiring a jump near the Pack-a-Punch and persists until the players grab it (recommended to grab as the fourth and final wave begins.)

Zombies, Russian Manglers, and Valkyrie Drones will appear, at first one side of the building at a time, then all windows at once. The current round will freeze, but Zombies will be at the strength of the current round. All enemies killed during the lockdown do not award players with any Points, and the Pack-a-Punch Machine is not available during this lockdown.

After surviving all four waves of lockdown, players gain 500 Points and can collect the Dragon Strike by interacting with the crystal again. Although players can interact with the crystal quite early (as simply gaining access to Hatchery is all that is needed), it is not generally recommended to do so until players at least have a Pack-a-Punched weapon and plenty of ammo.

  • Since this lockdown freezes the current round, attempting the lockdown at Round 9 or sooner will allow the Bowie Knife to still work in one slash. It is still recommended to have at least one Pack-a-Punched weapon, as zombies will be sprinting even if this is done early.
  • Shooting off Mangler arm cannons plus their helmets during this lockdown will substantially build up progress to unlocking the Mangler Helmet if not unlocking it outright (very feasible in solo play), and the final trial for the Dragon Egg, melee kills, can also be performed here after the necessary MG42 kills, most easily with the Guard of Fafnir melee/fireball attack.
  • As no Points will be gained, a good strategy to optimize the opportunity the four waves of lockdown provides is to simply wait until players are at the point with their Dragon Egg penetrative kills trial before touching the crystal, as the mounted MG42 is useful when the particular side of the Hatchery is attacked, and MG42 kills count for this Trial for the Egg.
  • If performing the strategy for multi-tasking with the Dragon Egg, entering the MG42 turret requires 1000 Points each time it is entered, so saving a couple thousand points before initiating the lockdown is advised if this method is attempted. See Gauntlet of Siegfried for information on requirements to reach the penetrative kills Trial, as Trials for it must be done in a particular order. When the lockdown is over and with the Dragon Strike obtained, simply go to the basement level of the Hatchery and complete the final incubation lockdown phase for the Dragon Egg before returning to the main part of the map as the Egg cools.

Draconite Controller[]

To upgrade the Dragon Strike into the Draconite Controller, players first needs to kill around 40 zombies with the weapon; a loud dragon roar will be heard shortly after the active Dragon Strike which reached the kill threshold ends. In co-op, progress towards the Draconite Controller is shared between all players during all steps. Each player does not individually need to kill 40 zombies.

After the dragon roar is heard, players must mark with Dragon Strike a varying number of red Iron Cross flags that appear outside the map. At the beginning of the game, all four are always present. Upon completing the Dragon Strike kills step, an amount equal to the amount of players less than four will then vanish.

When playing solo, three of these four flags at random will vanish, and the remaining one must be marked with Dragon Strike. In co-op, each flag only needs to be marked once by any player. An audio cue will be heard once they are hit and vanish.

The four places where they can appear are:

  • Supply Depot, stand on the left metal platform for riding the Dragon and look left.
  • Dragon Command, stand on the left metal platform for riding the Dragon and look straight ahead at ground level. It is halfway hidden by some rubble.
  • Tank Factory, stand at the top of the staircase leading up to Double Tap, and look out of bounds, near the hanging Tank.
  • Belinski Square, stand in the corner looking out of bounds next to Quick Revive behind the gushing water pipe (the sewer's exit from Hatchery).

Once this is done, the player must go back to the Hatchery. All players in the game must then interact with the crystal again and go through the four wave lockdown event but they must use the Dragon Strike during each wave by looking outside with it as often as possible (it will regenerate during this event about every 15-20 seconds even without Max Ammo). Once this is done, the player must go upstairs to the crystal, where they can obtain the Draconite Controller.

The Draconite Controller does more damage and has a larger radius than its normal counterpart and the fire that the dragons shoot will be red instead of green. It can also be called twice (but can't be used simultaneously, one has to end for the other to be used, and there is a short delay even after the first ends).
