The Engineer Upgrade is a bonus pickup in Call of Duty: Ghosts in Chaos Mode, as well as a purchasable Armory upgrade. Once activated, it will lay down a stasis field around the player that prevents Cryptids from entering for fifteen seconds.

This upgrade is very defensive in nature, and is ideal for use when the user is in a tough situation, be it that they are on the verge of being downed, or the drill/scanner is in desperate need of protection. Unlike with the Tank Upgrade, which serves a somewhat similar purpose for being used in a pinch, the Engineer Upgrade does not lure Cryptids in, instead being used as an area of denial tool to keep Cryptids out. This makes it relatively easy to waste the upgrade if the threat that prompted the user to launch the upgrade wasn't that serious, but the Engineer Upgrade is better at ensuring safety once the effect wears off, something that the Tank Upgrade lacks since it lures Cryptids in and can put the Tank user in a bad spot once the effect wears off. The upgrade is best used when there are numerous Cryptids closing in on the Engineer's position.

The stasis field also has the effect of a Trophy System, destroying incoming projectiles from Scorpions and Ancestors should the projectile make contact. The Engineer Upgrade can be effectively used as an instant Trophy System if the player is under fire from multiple Scorpions, although gas attacks that have already landed inside the stasis field will still have negative effects on the player(s) inside. Cryptids that are inside the stasis field as soon as it is placed down will act as normal in the stasis field until they leave the stasis field, in which they will no longer enter the affected area for the duration of the stasis field. Although the Engineer Upgrade can destroy the projectiles the Ancestor launches, this only causes the projectile to explode prematurely, and it is still possible to be hurt by the projectile's splash damage. Regardless, it is an effective means of protection from these projectiles.

The Enginner Upgrade notably does not protect against shots fired by Gargoyles. The Engineer Upgrade's only use against a Gargoyle is if one is walking along the ground, which doesn't happen very often.

Should the user lay down the stasis field in specific areas, it can prevent Cryptids from going anywhere, effectively forcing them into a corner in which they cannot move within until the stasis field stops. If the Cryptid cannot physically access the other players because of the stasis field, it will stand still and do nothing until the stasis field disappears. This allows the Engineer to corner off deadly enemies such as Rhinos and Mammoths, and can make disposing of them much easier.
