Field Upgrades are special equipment in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty: Vanguard, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Filling a similar role to Equipment from previous games, they are powerful devices and abilities that can aid the user and their team offensively or defensively. Field Upgrades are acquired by filling up the meter which it will fill on its own and can be accelerated by earning score, similar to Specialist Weapons and Payloads from previous games.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare[]
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players can only use one Field Upgrade at a time, but can use a second one through the Field Upgrade Pro feature unlocked at level 45. In Field Upgrade Pro mode, both of the selected Field Upgrades charge at the rate of the slower of the two. For example, if Dead Silence and Stopping Power Rounds were to be selected in Field Upgrade Pro, both would charge at the rate of Stopping Power Rounds.

There are 3 Field Upgrades that were cut from the final game:
Call of Duty: Warzone[]
Field Upgrades are featured in Call of Duty: Warzone however in Battle Royale modes, they cannot be charged or chosen but must be found via loot cache drops or ground loot. In Plunder modes and Clash, they function like in Modern Warfare.
Most of the Field Upgrades from Modern Warfare are featured in Warzone, those being:

- Stopping Power
- Weapon Drop (Plunder)

Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War[]
Field Upgrades return in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War with the same functions. Different as in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, players may have only one Field Upgrade equipped, not allowing to expand and have more than one Field Upgrade.

Cut Field Upgrades[]
There is 1 Field Upgrade that was cut from the final game:
- Barricade - Would've acted like the Barricade from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Within the Zombies mode, a unique selection of Field Upgrades can be utilized. Deployed by the Weaponized Aetherium Neutralizer Device or the W.A.N.D alongside the Field Upgrade canister that manipulates the local residual Aetherium into various forms. There are 7 conventional Field Upgrades:

- Healing Aura
- Ring of Fire
- Frenzied Guard
- Toxic Growth
- Tesla Storm
There are also two temporary Field Upgrades that can be obtained within the Outbreak mode, the Aether Canister Field Upgrade that can be utilised while holding a canister of raw Aetherium during "Retrieve" objectives and a section of Ravenov Implications alongside the Aether Bunny Surprise which is gained while carrying the Aether Bunny plush during a section of Entrapment.
Call of Duty: Vanguard[]
Field Upgrades return in Call of Duty: Vanguard with the same functions.
