"Pick up your gun and shoot!"
— Filatov

Corporal Filatov (Russian: Филатов) was a Soviet corporal and political commissar who fought during World War II as featured in the Call of Duty level "Red Square".

Biography[edit | edit source]

Corporal Filatov is a commissar in the barrier company charged with summarily executing all soldiers who deserted the battlefield. On 18 September 1942, the Soviets were making a push to recapture Red Square from its German defenders. Filatov mans one of the MG-42 emplacements defending the Soviet's position. Several burnt out Maxim machine guns can be seen thrown behind Filatov, suggesting that there were multiple failed attempts to breach the German blockade. The first wave failed, forced to retreat after meeting stiff resistance from the German line. At the order of Senior Lieutenant Kozlov, Filatov opens fire, eliminating the retreating troops. The second wave, after a flanking action carried out by Sergeant Makarov and Alexei Voronin, was successful, ending the assault.

Filatov will kill the player if he retreats past the barricade ahead of their position.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • If the player runs onto the other MG-42 on the German side or throws grenades he can be killed without any penalties.
