Biography[]

Fight against Makarov & Mace[]

Ghost appears on horseback to intercept a group of mercenaries hiding in a shack in the desert. After disposing of them, he and a team of Rangers enter the shack's basement.

The team equips Hazmat suits as they enter. Upon arriving, they are ambushed by Mercenaries in Hazmat suits. After a short battle, they reach the lab only to find out that the scientists working there have been executed by the Mercs. Makarov appears on a TV screen revealing that he has ordered the execution to avoid the team interrogating the scientists. Makarov then remotely opens the gas valves releasing a shroud of radioactive gas which kills the Rangers. Ghost manages to escape and avoids a mercenary who was attempting to block his way. He runs outside only to witness a multitude of nuclear missiles launching.

Ghost and Tank Dempsey arrive in a destroyed city looking being ordered to find a "target". They are then ambushed by a Merc. After Tank notes that there was no tactical advantages Ghost uses a mirror from a broken car to pinpoint the location of the Merc and shoots him down. Tank identifies the LMG the merc was carrying as something that would have been supplied. Ghost then identifies a nearby Gulag as the duo's next destination. Upon entering, they encounter Mace, Krueger and two Mercenaries. After a short skirmish, Ghost chases Mace into the prison cells where the latter have a fight. Mace then retreats after being shot at by Tank who mentions that Krueger also managed to escape. The two then descend down a staircase and encounter Reznov.

Meeting Reznov and the Bunkers[]

Reznov, after a brief standoff between the soldiers, decides to inform Ghost and Tank of his assignments. He tells them that he was on a covert mission to a secret facility belonging to the Germans. He and his team rush forward an assault on the base. Despite the overwhelming gunfire, Reznov manages to survive the slaughter and enters the facility, encountering a gas called Nova 6. After executing all of the scientists in the facility, he retrieved the gas for the Russians, and they hid them in bunkers, Reznov then reveals that he is one of the few people who know where the bunkers are.

A group of Coalition soldiers consisting of Golem, Otter and an unnamed Frogman lead by Mara are traversing through a jungle. They witness Makarov entering a truck and driving towards a bunker. They follow the convoy and engage an assault. Mara runs into the bunker but is intercepted by Mace. She avoids Mace and holds Makarov hostage. To her horror, Mace shoots Makarov in the head and runs away. After meeting up with the other operators and informing them of Mace's escape, and she then discovers a hidden hatch underneath the floor. and the team goes through it to discover an EMP missile. However, it launches before they can defuse it.

Alcatraz & The Club[]

Disappointed with the recent mission failure, Ghost contemplates of how they gathered next to no intel about their enemies. Mace in disguise attacks a building with his team of mercenaries then goes to Alcatraz to meet with Hidora Kai. The two discuss on a plan which and agree to work together. The EMP missile, now in space dismantles itself, revealing a satellite inside which disables all electronic devices in the world, including military radio towers, communication centers, Mara and Soap's convoy and even the plane Ghost and Tank were flying in. Ghost and Tank survive the crash and head on to the coordinates received. They find themselves in a room called The Club where they meet with Mara and Captain Price. Captain Price then introduces the group to Russell Adler and officially inducts the operators into the UAC.

The group agrees on a plan to attack their enemies. Before leaving, Captain Price gifts Ghost a new balaclava which the latter accepts and wears. They split into multiple groups attacking certain areas. Mara's group attack Alcatraz. Ghost and Tank attack Hackney Yard and Price and Soap go to an unmarked location where they are ambushed by Templar. Tank enters one of the buildings and is ambushed by Mace. Mace quickly headbutts Tank and uses both of their weapons to execute him in front of Ghost. Mara confronts Hidora, and her team realizes the place is rigged to blow. Soap and Price to coordinate a takedown on Templar, but it fails, with Templar throwing a knife into Soap's chest. Although Price and Templar enter a standoff, Templar notes that Price's pistol might not be able to penetrate Templar's armor, and the fact that Soap doesn't have long. Reluctantly, Price decides to save Soap while Templar escapes. Eventually, Alcatraz is blown up, and Hidora escapes in the chaos. Mara, trapped inside the building, hopes that Ghost and the others completed their mission as the building collapses on her. Ghost, enraged, proceeds to beat Mace up, but refrains himself from simply shooting him.

In the aftermath, Ghost, Price, and Adler discuss the aftermath. With Mace and Markov either apprehended or dead, only three of the Five Knights remain. The men go over the injuries their teammates suffered, most notably Mara in a coma, and the men note that she may never come out of it. Ghost finally finishes with "We won a battle, I'm going to win the war."

War against the Five Knights[]

Ghost and Adler discuss about the ongoing war. As Ghost expresses grief for not being able to save Tank and the fact that they don't have enough time and intel, Adler comforts him by saying that they do have intel and mentions that there is a place in Siberia from where Makarov possibly got the Nova Gas from. He then says that it's coming all around the same way like it did during his days, and narrates his story. Some time during the Cold War, Adler led a small team into a Soviet facility in Siberia along with his friend Stansfield. They had found out crucial information about something that the Five Knights could also have gotten their hands on, and eventually carried out. However, during exfil, they were surrounded by a large group of enemies, and Stansfield stayed behind to cover their escape, only to be shot dead, which Adler could do nothing but watch in horror. Back in present day, Adler finishes his story by saying that both Stansfield and Tank knew what they were doing, and so should Ghost. When Ghost questions if the research facility is of any more importance, Adler says that there might be something left in there, although it will be a long shot. Ghost agrees and says that he will take it, to which Adler responds that they will have to wait, and Ghost must not rush for revenge. Ghost in response says that this is not about revenge, and they must get the intel before the Five Knights do. Adler replies that they cannot risk to lose any more men as the Five Knights already hit the other bases hard, and tells Ghost that he must be patient. Ghost takes it for an excuse to do nothing and walks away, much to Adler's dismay.

Overridden with guilt, Ghost comes to visit the still comatose Mara and expresses grief for not being able to save them. He then promises that he will end this for all and places Tank's dog tag on her palms before leaving. When Price cannot find Ghost, he comes to Soap asking for his whereabouts. Adler comes to them saying that he knows where Ghost is, and he is "doing something stupid". When Price asks what Adler has done, he replies that he told him about the operation in Siberia and his loss of his friend - Stansfield.

One Less Loose End[]

Ghost arrives via Snowmobile at the Soviet base Adler told him about and begins to investigate. He realises that someone has been here recently as he finds recently opened canned food and a map which is dated around the present. He is then startled by a voice saying: "The enemy of my enemy....is my friend". The man turns out to me none other than Makarov. Ghost is surprised to see Makarov still alive, since Mara had confirmed he had been shot in the head. Makarov explains that Mace also saw him die but "appearances are deceiving" and that he needed to fake his death since their goals were diverged. Makarov also states that he knows that Ghost has arrived to seek information on how to defeat The Five Knights and that he has it. When questioned about their identity and goals, Makarov says that the Knights consist of 5 individuals with different goals but could be useful to each other as he was useful to them, and reveals their identities. Rorke is the head of mercenaries, Hidora is the head of the corporate section, Mace wanting only the downfall of the government, Raul Menendez wanting control of the system by hijacking it, and a fifth member whose identity Makarov says will keep to himself, unless Ghost takes him in. Ghost agrees, and as they exit the facility, Templar appears, blowing up Ghost's snowmobile. Ghost tells Makarov to run and fires at Templar. Unfortunately, the bullets cannot penetrate his armor and he mocks Ghost that he should have "brought bigger bullets". Templar then throws his knives at Ghost's P90, rendering it unusable. When Ghost attempts to hit him with the gun, Templar blocks and breaks it. Ghost then asks Templar who he is, to which Templar gives a short introduction and stabs Ghost the wrist with a throwing knife and performs a Coup de Grâce when Ghost tries to retaliate. As the latter's body falls to the ground, Templar takes his mask as a "souvenir", commenting that he expected more of an equal opponent, but on the bright side, "That's one less loose end".

Price and Soap arrive in a chopper looking for Ghost. Soap is surprised at the destruction caused and remarks "What the hell happened here?" Soon, they find a folded piece of paper on the bloodied ground, and Price remarks "Ghost might have been foolish to come here alone..", but ".. wasn't wrong about it being important." When Price picks up the paper, he finds Ghost's dog tag in it. It is then revealed that Makarov took Ghost's body, as he is seen dragging it towards a cliff. There, he rendezvous with a team of Ghosts led by Captain Merrick, and hands them over Ghost's body in exchange for a suitcase.

Capturing Raul Menendez[]

Sometime in the future, Mara awakens from her coma. It takes her a year to get fit for combat, after which she dons on her 'Awakening' uniform and jumps back into action. The scene then cuts to a rooftop where Mara knocks down and kills a soldier, accompanied by Alex Keller. When she complains that Alex could be of some help, he replies that Mara would "want to shake off the rust" before they start the "heavy lifting". He also says that the situation is okay, more or less, while engaging an enemy sniper on another rooftop. Alex then gets a call from General Shepherd, stating that Charly's team has confirmed that Raul Menendez is in the building they're on but have lost contact and requires him to enter the building immediately. The two operators then rappel down into the building. They manage to clear out the building but are then shocked to see members of Charly's squad lying dead before them. They also find a wounded Charly, hiding in a cubicle and tend to her. Charly explains that she and her team managed to locate and apprehend Menendez in the building. However, they failed to notice Templar, who was also present at the scene. Templar made short work of Charly's squadmates and wounded Charly with his throwing knife while Menendez escaped. As Charly is carried away by Alex and Mara, she laments that she has blown their chance at stopping Cordis Die. Alex assures her that there's still a shot at capturing Menendez.

Mace and Alex travel to a prison holding Mace. There, they convince Mace to help the UAC capture Menendez. From there, Mace is given his freedom back and assists the UAC in infiltrating Menendez' hideout. They succeed, and Mace is able to apprehend Menendez personally.

Angel of Death & Tokyo[]

Meanwhile, Soap travels to Mexico to meet up with a DEA/CIA agent named Rosa who is known for her work against various drug cartels in the region. After introducing themselves to one another, Soap offers Rosa a job - working alongside the UAC.

Menendez is transferred to a prison, where he is interrogated by Price and Shepherd. There, Menendez reveals that Hidora Kai has returned to Tokyo, where he intends to rebuild the Five Knights. He also reveals that Templar has been dispatched to Texas to find what Ghost missed. After the interrogation, the remaining UAC members hold a mission briefing, where it is revealed Mara went rogue to uncover what happened to Ghost. There, Price states that Rosa, Charly and Mace will be accompanying Price's team to Texas. Soap and Alex, however, would be sent to Tokyo to apprehend Hidora Kai.

In Tokyo, Alex and Soap make haste to find Hidora Kai. They manage to locate the building he is in, and infiltrate the compound, taking out several of his henchmen along the way. After a skirmish, the pair manages to knock Hidora unconscious and exfiltrate via car with Hidora's henchmen in fierce pursuit. However, the exfiltration goes sideways when a figure resembling Spectre kills their driver and destroys their car. Forced to change their plans, Alex and Soap opt to steal a pair of motorcycles and once again knock Hidora out before taking him to the egress point. At the docks, there's a boat waiting for them; the pair manage to make it onto the boat while carrying Hidora, while his henchmen fall short of reaching him. With another member of the Five Knights apprehended, their boat then sails away, leaving Tokyo.

Mission in Jeopardy[]

In Texas, Price has brought along Charly, Rosa, Mace and several spec ops soldiers on their mission to find Templar. Unfortunately, the operation is revealed to have been a setup/ambush, as Templar swiftly eliminates the soldiers before engaging the UAC operators directly. It doesn't end there however, as Templar also has a consort, Cecilia "Dame" Perrin, who assists him in their battle. Dame quickly disarms Charly and Rosa of their weapons and Templar throws a knife into Mace's hand, just as he had done to Ghost previously. Despite their valiant efforts, Price and his group are soon overpowered and defeated by the mercenary duo. After some banter between them, Gabriel Rorke appears, who is seemingly the mastermind behind the op and tells them that "Everything's in position".

During this time, Hidora is under interrogation by Shepherd, Alex and Soap. He refuses to divulge the identity of the 5th Knight, which only serves to irritate the trio. Instead, he tells them that they should be more concerned about their team in Texas.

Elsewhere, Adler meets up with Captain Merrick on his Ghosts ship. He suspects that Price and his team may have been lured into a trap as he hasn't received anything back from them, and then later visits the Ghosts' German Shepherd Riley.

Meanwhile, a vast armada being led by Vagr Modir catches up to the ship Hidora is in undetected. As Shepherd mocks Hidora saying things won't end up the way Hidora thinks it will, the ship's alarm goes off, having detected the armada. Hidora mocks back at Shepherd saying he is not the one mistaken about the outcome, as Alex and Soap gear up for defence.

As the attack begins, Alex admits that they are outnumbered and outgunned. Soap orders Modir to call her men off, but she refuses. Her wolf attacks Soap, giving her the opportunity to catch him off-guard and push him off the ship. She then tackles Alex and goes inside, only to find Shepherd holding Hidora at gunpoint.

Meanwhile, Price says he's tired off the Five Knights, and mocks Rorke for being a puppet. Rorke replies that as long as there is a cash flow, he doesn't mind being one. Mace manages to break the pipe he was cuffed to, and attacks Rorke with it. Rosa also breaks out of her cuffs, but before she can do anything, Rorke tackles Mace and throws him onto her.

Twist of events[]

Rorke, having had enough of toying with them, draws his gun to Price's head and demands to know Adler's location, only for Adler to reveal himself--having brought reinforcements. Rorke mocks Adler for coming to him so soon, but then the latter remarks that he's also brought an "old friend"--something that apparently leaves Templar (and the rest of the operators) in shock and denial, as the old friend is revealed to be Ghost, apparently alive and accompanied by Riley, he then says his famous line, "You can't kill a Ghost".

Ghost then tells Templar they have a score to settle--so Templar responds by throwing his knife at him, but he catches it and swivels it around his wrist before he throws it back, hitting Rorke in the arm. Ghost then orders his fellow Ghosts to secure Rorke and the facility while he deals with Templar. Rorke decides to exfil, so he orders Dame to accompany him while Templar stays behind to deal with UAC operators. Rorke heads to a bunker underground where he intends to exfil via a helicopter. Unknown to him and Dame however, Adler is hiding and waiting for them there.

Ghost and Templar engage in a vicious duel, while Rosa sets about freeing Price, Charly and Mace. Mace then joins the battle against Templar, blindsiding him as he knocks over Ghost. Meanwhile, back at sea, Soap manages to climb back on board the ship via a rope, while witnessing the Ghosts ship firing upon Vagr Modir's fleet. Rendezvousing with Alex, they rush into the cabin, only to find that Hidora and Modir have escaped, with Shepherd being tied to the chair. He orders the pair to find them as they make their escape. Despite their best efforts, they are unable to prevent the Five Knights' operators from escaping.

Meanwhile, Rorke makes it to his helicopter, but is grazed in the ear by Adler. He orders Dame to kill him, who happily obliges. Ghost and Mace continue to duel Templar, though Mace is taken out of action when Templar strikes his nerves in his arms, preventing him from fighting, leaving Ghost to fight alone. After a grueling brawl, Ghost manages to put Templar in a submission hold and prepares to kill him, but Dame swoops in and knocks Ghost aside, before helping Templar away.

Rorke makes his escape, but Price notes that his helo isn't a long range one, and that he's most likely headed to somewhere close--a ship, and orders General Shepherd to be ready. Adler finds Ghost and the rest of his group, and prepares to make their way back outside and rendezvous with Price. As they do, however, they stumble upon the dead body of Mara, which devastates them, especially Ghost.

A while later, they meet back on the ship where Shepherd is, and pursue Rorke and his group, who drop naval mines in the UAC's way to evade them. Despite this, Adler says that they don't need to pursue them as he has reached out to some of his connections in South America, and that there's only one place he could be headed to.

Rosa's mission in Panama[]

Rosa is later dispatched to Panama, albeit undercover, to uncover more intel on the Five Knights. Although she has her misgivings at first, she agrees to take the mission. She later meets with Rott, an arms dealer operating in Panama and an affiliate of Rorke's, where she negotiates an arms deal (in reality, she planted a tracker on the container holding the weapons). Though she attempts to bargain, Rott shuts it down quickly, she agrees to the deal.

Later that night, she infiltrates a compound, reaching the top floor of the building and retrieving a briefcase. However, before she can secure it, she is nearly impaled by a sword from Dame. Rosa guns her down, but is prevented from finishing her off when she's caught by Rott and his men, who had to come to investigate. Knowing her cover is now blown, she makes haste to exfil. As she leaps over rooftop from rooftop, Rott suddenly blindsides her, but she manages to hold on to a ledge while Rott falls through debris.

Spotting Rott's men chasing her on motorcycles, Rosa then leaps down to snag one of them and ride off, although not before Rott catches sight of her. Pursued by Rott on own motorcycle, she briefly exchanges fire with him until she's narrowly hit. Nonetheless, she manages to ride all the way to a cliff top, where Ghost is waiting with a helicopter. She rides off the cliff and leaps off the motorcycle, and Ghost manages to grab her onto the helo, and Rott is forced to abandon his pursuit. Ghost is impressed by Rosa's skills, while she remarks that the mission was fun.

Meanwhile, Charly and Price meet with Demir, who resolves a hostage situation.

Mission to Blackout[]

Shepherd briefs the UAC operators about their mission to Blackout; due to the dangerous nature of the mission, the UAC is bringing everyone along for the mission: the Navy, the Army, the Air Force and 30,000 US Marines to take on the amassed force of Five Knights soldiers on the island. His briefing is interrupted by the arrival of Gary "Roach" Sanderson, who had been escorted by Soap and Alex.

Later, during the mission, Roach proves himself more than useful as he takes out several soldiers before the rest can. Meanwhile, Ghost, who's on the island nearby, notes that he has lost contact with a Delta Squad, and makes his way to investigate. As he moves further in, he spots a swath of bodies, suspecting if Templar may be involved. He is proven right, as he later spots Templar turning on the members of the Dark Covenant, apparently killing Dame before engaging a fierce battle with the other Dark Covenant operators: Witch Doctor, Dark Shepherd, Kryptis and Artery. Templar defeats them, before meeting with Ghost himself, telling him they could've been great partners in another life, but it cannot be this one.

He hands Ghost a key card, telling him that the "5th Knight" is behind a bookshelf, before declaring it isn't his war anymore. When Ghost asks Templar what he will do next, he replies that he is going to burn the whole Dark Covenant to the ground. Meanwhile, Price and his team have found Hidora Kai, and have orders to kill him. Demir attempts to take down Hidora, but is shot. Rosa kicks away his gun, but is then slashed across the cheek with Hidora's sword. With Demir and Rosa down for the count, Price continues to pursue Hidora alone. Hidora destroys his gun, but Price isn't deterred, disarming him of his sword and stabs him through the torso with said sword.

Despite his mortal wound, Hidora taunts Price, stating that everything is "going dark", as he had said. Having had enough of his taunting, Price slashes through Hidora, killing him, but then spots a device with a countdown timer.

Shepherd is told of the current situation: the Five Knights have been pushed back and are surrounded on all sides, their air defenses and ships are crippled, they're trapped. Shepherd expresses pleasure that his boys are doing it, and that it's the end for them.

The Fifth Knight revealed[]

Ghost makes his way to the bookshelf told him about, and uses the key card to gain access. However, he is horrified to learn that the 5th Knight is none other than Adler himself. Adler tries to justify his actions, stating that it was for the greater good. Ghost is disgusted to learn that Adler, their friend and their leader, had betrayed them and his country. Adler states that it was a "false flag", where a country makes an attack on itself disguised as the enemy to spark a war.

Ghost asks if he wanted a war, and Adler tells him that a war was coming whether he wanted it or not, and that he created one that could be managed before the next one which would tear down the US could start. He reveals that the Soviets are still around; 14 months ago in the black site in Texas, the missiles that were launched were in fact an attempt to frame Makarov, to get to his inner circle, the Russian extremist group and the hidden S.S.R. Ghost is still unmoved, knowing Adler had killed thousands of their friends and sent civilization reeling, but Adler says that this was so that they could build back better, likening it to how broken bones heal stronger after an injury.

Adler also quotes Thomas Jefferson, "The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots of tyrants." He then says that Makarov took the blame as they hoped, and he had sent Mace to assassinate him, but Makarov was one step ahead of them and used a double to deceive them all. So he knew he had to pull in more resources to kill "four birds" with one stone, by gathering extensive funds throughout his years in the C.I.A.; millions of dollars of missing C.I.A. funds, as a gift from his old friend Hudson.

He had a new operation on his hands, so he planned to eliminate the 4 more evils: Rorke, Hidora, Menendez and Makarov, they all had to die. As for Mace, he was just a puppet, albeit a useful one, he had his fair share of war crimes stacked up against him; Rorke was an old C.I.A. asset who went rogue in South America, and he had been trying to get rid of him for years; Menendez had been trying to start his revolutions for decades, and was a real threat to their democracy; Hidora had been moving billions of dollars for Makarov and his Russians, and that with his demise, their funds would suffer in the long run; and lastly, Makarov, who is a real threat to the world, Adler says that if they don't stop him he will cause WW3 to happen. Although he has taken out the other 4, he still wants Makarov dead.

As for Templar, Adler had promised to reunite him with his daughter. He also reveals that when Ghost was sent to Siberia a year earlier, he was supposed to kill Makarov, and if he failed, Templar was supposed to do it. However, that didn't go as planned as Ghost and Templar ended up fighting each other.

Ghost intends to take Adler in, but he says that he is too old to be put behind bars, while noting that the 30,000 men on Blackout are all heroes. While talking, Adler suddenly turns around and grabs something from his jacket, causing Ghost to shoot him. As Adler falls, he reveals what he had pulled out from his jacket: a lighter. Just then, Ghost receives a call from Price, warning him that a nuke has been launched. Ghost tries to make sense of the situation, but before he can do so, Blackout erupts into a massive mushroom cloud, horrifying Ghost. As Adler reaches the bottom of the cliff he fell from, he remarks "I won, Perseus...". Ghost watches in horror as the nuke explodes, while Shepherd is also equally horrified by the loss of his 30,000 men.

Learning about the Dark Covenant[]

Shepherd is angry over the loss of that many soldiers, and threatens to Ghost to tie up the loose ends, or he does. Price says that they don't know if the Five Knights are truly gone and they have next to nothing about the Dark Covenant or about what Adler really did. Ghost then mentions Hudson, stating that he was the one funding all of Adler's operations, directing money from intelligence slush funds. While Price and Shepherd know nothing about this, Price says he knows someone who might.

Eventually, Ghost is dispatched on a mission to find answers. He reaches an old, dilapidated apartment, and discovers signs that it had been broken into, as well as Hudson's body on a desk. As Ghost sifts through the papers on the desk, he finds a piece of paper with the name Stansfield written on it. He brings this intel back to Price and Shepherd, remembering it as the name of the operator from the 80s who died getting Adler out of Siberia. He wonders why would Hudson write the name of a guy who's been dead for 30 years, and Price says maybe their old friend could shed some light on it: the old friend being an elderly Reznov.

Reznov recounts the time when he liberated the Nova Gas from the Nazis, he was sent to a gulag in Vorkuta, where he was occasionally sent on suicide missions, though he always survived them. He reveals it was there where he met Stansfield. Stansfield was barely alive when he was brought in, but he presented opportunity to the Soviets; Friedrich Steiner, a former Nazi scientist "liberated" by Reznov's comrade, attempted to brainwash Stansfield. However, the experiment went horribly wrong: instead of producing a friend, Stansfield was turned into a madman obsessed with carnage.

Eventually, the Vorkuta prisoners rebelled against the guards, Stansfield among them. Reznov realized that to Stansfield, the killing wasn't the means to an end, but the point: he reveled in it and craved it. Following his escape, Reznov and Stansfield went different directions, and it was the last he saw of him, but wasn't the last he heard of him; for decades, he had heard rumors of Stansfield recruiting the most sadistic and cruel soldiers to his cause, forming the Dark Covenant. Reznov goes on to state that he doesn't wish to know where Stansfield is, feeling he should never have survived Siberia or Vorkuta, he's a mad dog that needs to be put down.

Hunting the Dark Covenant[]

Ghost says that they don't have a lead on Stansfield, but they do have one on the Dark Covenant; by this, Ghost is referring to Templar, a "knight without a lord to serve". Templar says that Ghost had found him again, to which he replies that it wasn't hard as Templar had left a swath of bodies in his wake. He notes that it was necessary to ask questions of the criminal underground as the Dark Covenant has gone into hiding, and that his actions are justified. Templar asks Ghost why he's there, and Ghost tells him that he's after his daughter and Ghost himself is after Stansfield, hence they share a common enemy. Templar agrees, though not before they have a brief scuffle.

Afterwards, Templar reveals he joined the French Army when he was 17, with Dame as his commanding officer, he and her went on countless battles until she was dishonorably discharged. He was young, ambitious and impatient, and his Army comrades saw him as a sadist and psychopath, and his whole life he has felt like an outcast; 6 years later, Dame found him and recruited him into the Dark Covenant, where he felt at home. Stansfield was like a father to Templar and he spilled much blood for them.

He goes on to state that he has made many mistakes in his life and is not a good man, but he wishes to give his daughter a better life, the one he never had. Ghost says that they will save her, together, and hunt down the Dark Covenant together as well.

The pair first target Witch Doctor, who's on board a ship. After knocking him down, Templar asks him if he likes surgery, leaving Witch Doctor's fate ambiguous. Next, they go after Kryptis, who's on a motorcycle. Templar throws Kryptis off his bike by throwing knives into the wheels, Although Kryptis insists he won't betray his comrades, Templar says that he will. Afterwards, the pair head for Dark Shepherd, who's on board a hovercraft. The guard assures Dark Shepherd that nobody's following him, but he doubts it. When he detects Ghost and Templar swimming up, he throws the guard off in frustration. Ghost and Templar corner Dark Shepherd, who agrees to talk. Their last target is Artery, who is in a hotel room, interrogating someone. When she realizes Ghost is there, she attempts to flee by jumping out the window, but is caught by Templar.

Artery tells Templar that he shouldn't trust Ghost as he's just using him and once he's done he will backstab him, and it's still not too late for him to rejoin them. Templar is unmoved however, and tells her to either talk or take her chances. Artery reluctantly gives Stansfield's location, in Alaska, giving him an address of 584S. Despite giving him the information he needed, Templar drops Artery from the window anyway, presumably killing her. Ghost asks if he really needed to drop her, and Templar says that she'll live, but even if she didn't, he's doing a favor for the world.

Mission to Alaska[]

Templar and Ghost plan their next mission: to go to Alaska and take down Stansfield and rescue Templar's daughter Sophia. He warns Ghost that it's a one-way mission and they may not make it, but if they do, Nikto would cover their extraction. Ghost reveals that he has brought backup as well, in the form of Sliver, Soap and Alex. When the pilot asks if they're ready to go, Templar says that they still have one more: Vagr Modir, along with her pet wolf, to join them on their mission. Soap and Alex feel uneasy about having her with them, but she reassures them that they have no hard feelings.

During the flight, Modir sleeps with her pet wolf, Soap and Alex play cards to keep themselves occupied, and Sliver stays awake. Meanwhile, Templar privately returns Ghost's mask, which he had taken from him previously in Siberia. Though Ghost appreciates the gesture, he says that one act of kindness isn't enough to erase all of Templar's sins. Templar knows this, but makes Ghost promise that if anything happens to him, he will take care of his daughter Sophia, which Ghost hesitantly agrees to.

Upon their arrival, the UAC troops are immediately fired at by Firebreak and several Dark Covenant troops. In the ensuing battle, Alex's leg is severed, and Vagr Modir drags him to safety, with Soap telling her not to let Alex die. Modir lets her wolf take down Firebreak, and Ghost and Templar force their way inside, with Ghost telling him to get the D.S.M. in addition to rescuing his daughter, while Ghost himself will go find Stansfield. They split off in different directions, with Templar slicing through multiple guards with his sword while Ghost guns them down.

Templar finds and reunites with his daughter, while Ghost confronts Stansfield in his office. Stansfield says that he wanted to see the new "him", though Ghost retorts that he's nothing like Stansfield. Stansfield says that Ghost is exactly like him, as he lives for the joy of battle and the singing in his blood, and that Ghost should've been part of what he and Adler built. Ghost declares that after today, the Five Knights will be dead, and so will the Dark Covenant, and Stansfield himself.

Templar carries Sophia away, and retrieves the D.S.M., while Ghost prepares to fight Stansfield. Templar tells Sophia to close her eyes as he kills the remaining guards, while Ghost and Stansfield engage in a vicious brawl. Eventually, Ghost kills Stansfield by gouging out his eyes and snapping his neck. Meanwhile, Templar continues to slaughter more guards. Sophia says that she can stop them, as she was trained to do so, but Templar doesn't want that life for her, as it's not for her, promising to bring her back to Paris to lead normal lives.

As they make their way back outside, they find Nikto waiting with his chopper. However, as Templar loads Sophia onto the helo, he spots Vagr Modir pinned down by a Dark Covenant soldier, and moves in to help. Templar kills the soldier and helps carry Modir away, while telling her to provide cover fire and hang in there. Just then, backup arrives to finish off the remaining Dark Covenant troops.

As Templar and Modir reaches the chopper, he presumes Ghost has killed Stansfield, which he confirms before asking for the D.S.M.. Templar confirms he has it, but just as Ghost is about to help them, he suddenly pulls a gun and shoots both Modir and Templar. The UAC soldiers then move in to eliminate the loose ends, tearing apart Nikto's chopper. Ghost retrieves the D.S.M, for Shepherd, and he praises him for his good job. As the group leaves, Ghost remarks that Templar was right, there's nothing there but ghosts.

Sophia, revealed to have survived, desperately runs to her father, and reminds him of his promise to take her to Paris. Templar agrees, and they begin to trek across the icy terrain. However, Templar collapses midway, and in his dying breath, tells Sophia to be better than him, and that he loves her always, before passing away in Sophia's arms.

The New Chapter[]

Some time later, Gaz is revealed to have joined the UAC as well, as part of Task Force 141. They are dispatched to Lisbon to take down a squad of terrorists led by Nikto, holding hostages. While Price identifies Nikto, Ghost remembers that he & Nikto worked together to take down the Five Knights network. Price notes that he did this after he killed Templar, but Ghost insists he did what he had to do. After confirming this won’t be a problem, Price then assigns tasks to the crew: Alex, Charly & Gaz operate as one unit, while he & Ghost operate as another.

As they start their mission, Alex laments that they don’t get the fun stuff, although Charly is more than happy to not work with Ghost. Gaz notes this, and Charly says that anyone who has trusted Ghost ended up paying for it, though Alex comments he did what he had to do.

The group secure their respective locations, but find no sign of the hostages, nor Nikto, which they find concerning. In the garage, Alex’s group find barrels of explosives in an elevator, so they get clear. In the atrium, Ghost wonders if Nikto knew he was coming, but Price tells him that not everything is about him.

Just then, Ghost & Price are attacked by Cipher. Price attempts to help Ghost, but he tells him to get out of there & find Nikto instead. Despite Price’s concerns, Ghost insists for Price to find Nikto. Price obliges, but calls him a bloody idiot. While Ghost continues to duel Cipher, Price makes his way outside, where Alex & his unit ask about Ghost. Just then, the building explodes, horrifying the operators. However, they suddenly spot Ghost emerging from the smoke, with Cipher on his shoulders, unconscious. Ghost says that he knows who Cipher is and that he should be dead.

Meanwhile, up on a rooftop, Foxtrot spies Ghost on her rifle scope, but is alarmed when she sees Cipher as well.

Protecting Cipher[]

The UAC’s Lisbon mission goes awry as there are many casualties and many wounded. The unconscious Cipher is then transported to a hospital. Ghost reveals he knew Cipher, but doesn’t know what he is anymore. Price wonders if there are any other surprises in store. Unknown to them, Foxtrot is tailing them on a bike.

While doctors tend to Cipher in the hospital, Ghost realizes that they can’t let Cipher escape, and there’s probably something going on that they can’t see. Gaz agrees, noting that there has been a dozen bombings besides the one in Lisbon, and that a group called the “People’s Covenant” is taking credit for them. Believing Cipher is the key, Ghost decides that he is needed alive, and coorperative.

Suddenly, suited agents, claiming to be from the UAC, arrive to collect “the rogue asset” Cipher. Ghost doesn’t agree to this, but before they can make another move, Cipher abruptly appears, holding a doctor at knifepoint. The agent orders his colleagues to secure Cipher, but he fends them off. He then enters a standoff with Ghost, with Ghost asking if he remembers him. Before Cipher can reply, Price strikes him with a fire extinguisher. Foxtrot, disguised as a nurse, administers a sedative to Cipher, promising to “fix this.” The agents load the unconscious Cipher onto a gurney and take him away. Ghost decides to let them take him, but insists that they come along with them.

Mission in Morocco[]

Price, Ghost & Gaz accompany agent Miller to Morocco, while Cipher is planned to be delivered to a black site in the Figuig Desert. Upon arrival, Miller reminds Price that he is only allowed to tag along because of courtesy, and that his group will not be riding with them. Price expresses concern as Alex & Charly have be assigned to find Nikto in Miami; his concerns are unneeded however, as Farah & Roach are there to give them a ride. Price is happy to reunite with Roach despite not having Alex & Charly on their mission.

While en route to the black site, the convoy is attacked by Phantom, who narrowly misses his target due to Foxtrot’s intervention. The near-miss causes rocks to tumble down the convoy’s path, separating Miller from Price’s team. Price then assigns Gaz & Ghost different tasks: Ghost to secure the nearby hill, while Gaz to request for evac & support. At the same time, he tells Roach to accompany while telling Farah to help Gaz.

Price suspects that the backers of the People’s Covenant are cleaning house and they shouldn’t let them. Meanwhile, agent Miller & his colleague are killed by Spectre. Foxtrot and Phantom engage in a duel, with Foxtrot managing to kick Phantom down a hill, until she comes face-to-face with Ghost. Price then faces Spectre, who throws a smoke grenade to disorient them. Although he fights bravely, Price is no match for Spectre, and narrowly escapes with his life when Roach opens fire on Spectre.

As they return to their convoy, they find Cipher still unconscious but untouched. Just then, Foxtrot arrives and greets them. Price demands to know what she’s doing there, and learns that Cipher is actually her brother.

Learning of Ortelius[]

Foxtrot tells Price about her family upbringing & past, and reveals that Cipher went missing while on a UAC op, and in a month, she discovered a picture of his face on a human trafficker’s phone. She spent months tracking down who was buying him, and her searches, one word always came up: Ortelius. Price wonders why would black market docs want a UAC grunt like Cipher, and Foxtrot says she found her answer when she went to the Congo.

With aid from her friend Rampage, Foxtrot had uncovered evidence of the People’s Covenant conducting experiments on people with brain implants and cybernetics, while also disposing of the “failures”. Price asks her why she didn’t just come to him for this matter, and she says that she knows Ortelius has contacts inside of every government agency she can think of, and doesn’t know who isn’t compromised. At the same time, she reveals that the documents pertaining to Ortelius doesn’t have evidence of the People’s Covenant paying for their services, meaning they are either Ortelius itself or a part of it, which leaves the bigger question of who does Ortelius work for.

Before this question can be answered, they are notified of 3 unidentified aircraft headed their way. As they scramble to defend themselves, the escorting chopper is shot down, leaving Price to fend for himself. He grabs an FHJ, and shoots down one of the enemy planes, but soon realizes he doesn’t stand a chance, and orders Foxtrot to take Cipher & prepare to jump. As they jump, Nikto shoots down their plane, but all 3 of them tumble to the ground without serious issues.

Recovery in Morocco[]

Alex and Gaz are dispatched to Morocco after Price was shot down in the desert to recover him and his team. During their firefight with the People’s Covenant troops, Alex requests for backup, but is denied, and instead told to fall back to the extraction site & await medevac. Suddenly, Sparrowhawk appears and attacks both sides. But before she can finish Alex and Gaz, backup arrives in time, and they are told to head to the exfil site.

Upon arriving to the site, to their shock, Alex & Gaz spot multiple bodies. They see one trooper still coughing, and desperately asks for answers. The wounded trooper says that Cipher had found them before they did him.

Briefing in Israel[]

At the Tel Aviv base in Israel, UAC agents brief Alex and Gaz along with new members Tempest and Keegan, about Cipher and Foxtrot. Cipher had apparently slipped through cordons by both the UAC and the People's Covenant in Morocco, and is still at large, while his sister Foxtrot, real name Denise McDaniels, a former first lieutenant for the UAC, has been charged as an accessory and considered a terrorist sympathizer, and that apprehension or termination of Cipher is now the UAC's top priority.

Alex, Gaz and Tempest don't agree with this, and Alex asks for evidence regarding the matter. He is told that Foxtrot had resigned from her commission and in the search of her brother, she committed many criminal acts; and once she made contact with Cipher, she went radio silent and is thought to be helping him evade justice; until new intelligence comes to light that refutes this, the siblings are to be deemed enemy combatants.

Gaz feels like their "top priority" of apprehending or terminating Cipher feels like a massive overreaction, while Alex believes that somebody may be terrified of Cipher and Foxtrot being allowed to roam freely. After the briefing concludes, Tempest and Keegan further discuss the matter with Gaz and Alex, with Tempest stating that the idea that Foxtrot would've defected to the People's Covenant is laughable, as she knows her personally. Additionally, Keegan mentions that 2 of the People's Covenant sites the intelligence has sent them to investigate have been inactive for over a year: he knows this because he helped take one of them out. Alex believes that Cipher may have sensitive information and since Foxtrot is with him, she is considered to have that same information as well. He deduces that someone is afraid of what they know, and that someone is most likely planning to kill them, so they must get to Foxtrot and Cipher first, before the someone can.

Atlas Corporation exposed/Mission to New Vision City[]

Cipher later makes a public broadcast from within New Vision City, exposing Atlas Corporation as the secret benefactor behind the People's Covenant; Atlas Corporation had been funneling resources to the People's Covenant through a renegade organization known as Ortelius, which has ties to a human trafficking ring, and that they had been using members of the People's Covenant as guinea pigs for their experiments, including cybernetic and medical augmentations.

This broadcast is watched by the UAC members (with new member Bulldozer), and Keegan realizes that they must go to New Vision City and apprehend Foxtrot and Cipher before Atlas Corporation can.

While en route to New Vision City, a radio transmission calls for the UAC aircraft to turn back or be fired upon as they're entering restricted airspace. Alex informs them that they have authorization to apprehend Foxtrot and Cipher, and that any attempt to interfere is a violation of international law. However, the radio transmission simply repeats itself, revealing it to be an automated message, which frustrates Keegan. Bulldozer wonders how they will even find the siblings in the city, and whether or not Atlas Corporation has them already, with Tempest noting that would be something Atlas would be bragging about. Keegan says that Foxtrot used her fugitive status to give the UAC legal cause to fly in and nab them, and believes she will make contact once she spots them, though Tempest is angsty about it.

Later, multiple explosions go off in New Vision City (thanks to the work of Makarov, Sophia and Wraith), which horrifies the UAC crew. At the same time, Atlas Corporation, believing the UAC to be attacking them, launches the Sky Carrier. The UAC planes are immediately fired upon by the Sky Carrier. Keegan asks why no one is telling Atlas that the UAC isn't the one attacking them, but his pilot tells him that there's interference on all frequencies, so Atlas can't hear them--and the UAC can't call for backup either.

The UAC soon comes under fire from the Sky Carrier, and are forced to a retreat. Meanwhile, Cipher and Foxtrot light a flare to signal their location, and shortly afterwards, they arrive just in time to rescue them from a fleet of Reaper drones. Just as they are extracting the siblings, a bright light forces everyone to shield their eyes from it--revealed to have emanated from an orbital strike on the Sky Carrier. The UAC plane soon departs, while the Sky Carrier crashes into New Vision City.

Disbanded[]

Six months after the incident, the UAC is now defunct, with its members having disbanded. Alex has been honorably discharged from the organization, while the rest have fallen off the radar. Alias and Ether have been attempting to track them down with little success. Unknown to anyone (except Alias), Spectre is actively hunting the UAC members, ambushing Alex at his home, and later Ether's group at the vicinity of The Club.

Trivia[]

  • This faction was featured in an event titled "Knights Divided" in which they faced off against "The Five Knights". Choosing this faction and completing missions for it would unlock the Elite PMC - Ultramarine Epic character and an Epic “Sapphire” blueprint for the Razorback.
    • This faction was once again featured in an event titled "UAC vs Atlas Corporation". However, the rewards for both faction is the same. Completing missions would unlock the Epic HG 40 - Clash of Giants blueprint and an Epic FTL - Anniversary Suit Character.
  • In Season 12 comics, Price gives Ghost a Jawbone uniform. Although to avoid confusion, this is simply classified as a uniform for Ghost rather than changing him to his 2019 counterpart, being purely cosmetic.
    • Ghost was already wearing a Jawbone mask in the Season 6 comic, suggesting that Price took the mask from his Cowboy Uniform to give to him.
  • The "Clash of Giants" weapon blueprint of the HG 40 have the UAC's logo on the gun.
  • In the comics of Season 7 New Vision City, Alex is erroneously named "Alex Mason".
  • While not explicitly stated, Mace is in fact killed by the events of 2nd Anniversary comics. As Adler states of the Five Knights members except Makarov, he had "taken out the other four", strongly implying that he had Mace, Menendez, Rorke and Hidora killed.
