The Koshka is a bullpup, straight-pull bolt-action sniper rifle featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[]

"Bolt-action sniper rifle. Fast handling, 1-shot kill to the head and chest. Hold LSHIFT while ADS to steady."
— In-game description

Specifications[]

Multiplayer[]

In multiplayer, the Koshka is unlocked at level 43. Its operator mod is the Strelok, which increases weapon accuracy while ADS, by reducing the hip fire spread as the player aims down sights.

Zombies[]

The Koshka appears in all zombies maps where it's available as a weapon within the Mystery Box for 950 points, and as a wall weapon on Voyage of Despair, Classified, Dead of the Night, Ancient Evil, Alpha Omega, and Tag der Toten for 4500 points. It is the only sniper rifle that can be bought off a wall.  When upgraded via Pack-a-Punch Machine, it becomes the Bakeneko with the magazine size increased to 14 rounds and its ammo reserve increased to 140.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]

"Bolt-action sniper rifle with a low fire rate, widened lethal area, and high accuracy. Equipped with exclusive attachments, it can significantly improve accuracy while ADS."
— Description

The Koshka returns in Call of Duty: Mobile. It was added in April 2022 as part of the Season 4: Wild Dogs update.

Multiplayer[]

The Koshka, similar to the DL Q33, Rytec AMR and ZRG 20mm, is a high damage sniper rifle. The weapon will kill at any range as long as the shot does not hit the legs.

Penetration is high, however, it will not be able to kill enemies that are behind cover without FMJ, unlike the DLQ. Armor Piercer Mag helps the Koshka when it comes to this aspect, whereas having similar downsides as the 10 Round Extended Mag, making it a highly sought after attachment.

Aim Down Sight time is 470 milliseconds, slow but average for class.

Magazine size is 6 rounds. Reload time is 1.93s when loaded and 2.42s when unloaded, average for class.

Unlike its peers with similar properties, the Koshka is a highly versatile sniper rifle.

The Fast Aim Laser is essentially a tuned down Strelok from Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, increasing Koshka's hip fire accuracy by 15%, reducing 20% spread when opening scope (blankscoping) at the cost of visible laser at ALL TIMES, -30% breath hold time and +10% more idle sway. This makes the Koshka a great aggressive sniper rifle.

Hit flinch resistance is best, however average in class, at 2, tied with the ZRG, XPR-50, M21 EBR, Rytec AMR and SVD. Player can take advantage of lower flinch with multiple different builds, allowing the Koshka to perform at different circumstances.

Breath hold time is 5 seconds, the best, however average for class.

Like most sniper rifles, the Koshka has a standard set of muzzle devices.

The OWC Lightweight Suppressor helps keeping the weapon off the minimap when firing, however at the cost of 20% range reduction. Within the context of multiplayer however, this is fine, as the Koshka does not lose its one-shot-kill ability at any range.

The Tactical Suppressor keeps the Koshka off the map, at the cost of +3.0% Aim Down Sight time. The Monolithic Suppressor increases range by 25%, keeps the weapon off the map, at the cost of +8.0% ADS time, +20% Idle sway and -35% Breath hold time. Both of these attachments are unnecessary more often than not, due to the reasons mentioned above.

The MIP Light Flash Guard hides the muzzle flash, with -30% Idle Sway and +35% Breath hold time. This is a great attachment for players who are often unsure about their aim and needs to take a second shot to kill enemies in a variety of scenarios.

The Enhanced Barrel on the Koshka works similarly to most long barrel options on most sniper rifles, however, it has two more unique properties. The barrel not only reduces flinch, recoil and increases range, it also reduce hip fire spread by 20% and 50% while opening scope (blankscoping), which makes it work in conjunction with the Fast Aim Laser attachment. However, this comes at a cost of 6% movement speed and 15% aim walking movement speed reduction, and 10% more to the ADS time.

Like most of its peers, the Koshka does have a fair share of inherent downsides.

The fire rate is the slowest in class, at 46 RPM, tied with the ZRG 20mm. It is highly recommended to either take a melee weapon or a pistol as a secondary in case you are being ambushed.

The scope picture is clear, however, the eye cup blocks most of the peripheral vision, similar to the SVD, which sometimes makes the Koshka an unattractive choice compared to something more familiar such as the DLQ and Locus, or a sniper rifle that has a highly wide and clear scope such as the Rytec.

Trivia[]

General[]

  • Koshka (Russian: Кошка) means "Kitty" in Russian.
  • The inscription on the magazine receiver (Попался / Popalsya) means "Gotcha!"
  • A Russian flag can be seen painted above the magazine and stock.
  • Unlike a lot of sniper rifles in the Call of Duty franchise, the Koshka not only does it have an unusable bipod, but the attachment itself is also damaged.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4[]

  • The Operator Mod for the Koshka, the Strelok (Russian: Стрелок) literally means "sharpshooter."
  • Equipping the Iron Sight attachment doesn't flip the front sight of the weapon up. Instead, an additional front sight is added near the foregrip.
  • The Pack-A-Punched variant of the Koshka "Bakeneko" translates to 化け猫, lit. "form of cat"; in Japanese folklore, a type of yokai bearing resemblance to a cat.
  • Concept art for the Koshka reveals it originally had the Sight Loader attachment. It's model can still be seen when FMJ is equip.
