Overview[]

The mission begins with the player, now in the role of a bombardier nicknamed "Stretch" on board of a B-24 Liberator flying towards their objective near Oran. As the level opens up, The player hears a voice-over of "Stretch" reading a letter to his brother. The player is then ordered to get into the ball turret and shoot down a squadron of German Cargo Planes. After shooting down the convoy, the underside of the plane takes some relatively minor damage, forcing the player out of the ball turret. The pilot then orders the player to bomb two German tanker ships and one destroyer. After bombing the two enemy tankers and the destroyer, the player is forced to defend his plane and the rest of the squadron against incoming fighters in the chin turret. Later on, the tail gunner is killed by a German flying ace. The player takes the gun and fends off the oncoming swarm of planes, as well as the flying ace. After a while, the player is told to defend the plane on all sides, granting access to use either the chin turret or the tail gun. The player is then ordered to bomb the target, which is a factory and several fuel tanks. The player bombs the targets and the mission is declared successful. The player is congratulated on a job well done and Lt. Elliot tells Stretch that he is putting him in for a medal, to which "Stretch" remarks, "Man, I'm gonna have to write home about this."; marking the first time a player character speaks.
