Sicily is an island off the south coast of Italy. It is most famous in the Call of Duty series for Operation Husky near Gela, Piano Lupo, Troina and other coastal areas.

Call of Duty: United Offensive[]
Its first appearance was in Call of Duty: United Offensive when Sergeant Doyle and a SAS team infiltrate a German held gun battery and destroy them and their encasing. All but Major Ingram and Doyle are killed. Shortly after during the beginning of Operation Husky in Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, the members of the 1st Infantry Division land on the coast of Sicily near Gela. Gliderborne and paratrooper transports fly over head landing inland.

The Call of Duty 2: Big Red One, the missions taking place in Sicily are "Operation Husky", "Piano Lupo" and "Farewell to Friends". The Sicily mission in Call of Duty: United Offensive took up 2 missions. One infiltration and destruction of the battery and then escape via German Patrol Boat.

During the landing, Rogers must destroy a line of Concertina Wire laid out by the Italians to prevent infantry from moving past the sand line. After breaking through and clearing the beach areas in the town, Roland Roger and a squad from the 1st Infantry are ordered by Lieutenant Delaney to rescue a crashed glider carrying an 82nd Airborne Division colonel and a small group of survivors under attack by Italian infantry and armor. A few days after wards, Rogers must defend a supply dump near the Italian village of Piano Lupo and storm the city walls of Troina. The Italian and Germans are completely cut off from the Italian mainland once Sicily is captured.

Trivia[]
- During Operation Husky, American airborne aircraft were shot down by United States Navy guns thinking they were German planes. This caused the painting of white and black stripes on all Allied aircraft's wings and rear.
- The SAS operative assigned to extract the SAS Team in the second Call of Duty: United Offensive mission featuring Sicily is wearing the 6th Airborne Division uniform with a green beret, but wears a SAS uniform at the beginning of the operation.
