So I'll try to make this as short as possible. This doesn't stem from any particular incident, but in the past we have granted some administrator tools to users and passed forums based on an admin believing that their side was correct. In light of this, I suggest we make an amendment to COD:CONSENSUS that prohibits administrators that voted in a vote from closing it. I think this will eliminate controversial passes and it will eliminate any possible bias. PierogiTalk 03:06, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

Also hopefully it will stop something like this happening again. Iw5 cardicon soapN7 TC 11:12, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — The problem that has previously been identified with this idea is finding a neutral staffer to close the voting, since by the time the two-week voting period is up most of the active staff have weighed in on the issue in question. 9G3sis0.pngRaven's wing Talk10:14, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

Raven rises a good point, while smaller forums may still have users that haven't voted, it may become difficult to contact a user to close a forum if most of the regulars have already voted. 11:57, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps in this case it might be better to have several admins from each side of the argument convene and act together as the neutral party, to decide which side is satisfactory, if any. Joe Copp 12:03, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
But that just means there is a smaller, more meaningful discussion going on without a majority of the communities input, effectively rendering all non-admin users mute. KUDLq.png 15:26, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — Might we add an addendum that prohibits the same admin from making the decision every time? Joe Copp 10:55, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

Are you suggesting a quota for how many times a neutral admin may close a vote? PierogiTalk 15:08, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
Not really, just so long as it's not the same guy time after time. He may be a "neutral party" but everyone leans one way or the other, if only a little. Joe Copp 01:18, August 12, 2013 (UTC)
I understand what you mean. I think that if they cared that much, they would vote. No one is forcing people not to vote. PierogiTalk 01:54, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Pictogram voting support Support — I thought we already implemented this after a forum (I don't remember what it was about) failed despite overwhelming support because an admin (don't remember who) who voted for it to fail didn't think that the support had good enough arguments. But per above, how will we decide on who is allowed to close it? Conqueror of all Zombies (talk) 01:26, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — I think it may be reasonable to stipulate that in the event of a dead forum, this rule does not apply. Joe Copp 23:05, August 12, 2013 (UTC)

doesn't sound reasonable to me. If we have a rule preventing bias we shouldn't have any exceptions. It isn't hard to go find a neutral admin on the chat to close the forum. KλT 23:24, August 12, 2013 (UTC)
Putting it that way, I suppose I agree. Joe Copp 23:32, August 12, 2013 (UTC)
