So, after some recent behavior involving offensive jokes, I have thought quite a bit about the issue and have come to my own conclusion that it should be added to COD:UTP.

Offensive jokes can hurt people and are quite often not funny at all, as they often revolve around sensitive topics. While I understand sometimes one user may just be having a little fun, an offensive joke is often used to hurt somebody, intentional or not.

As for stereotypes, I think that some of the more offensive one, like "All Americans are fat" (I hope I don't insult anybody with that) is rather offensive to people. But saying "All Canadian live in igloos" would be fine, as it is obviously in the sake of fun.

Being (what I believe) is the most recent example of this problem, I completely see why this would be a good idea, but per Twigy, I think DBAD covers it already. Maybe a word change could be put in place to make it more clear or direct. http://i.imgur.com/KUDLq.png 00:10, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

This is already covered. When users say "calm down, I was joking," that is telling you they clearly don't understand the policies, and should either be punished or redirected to said policies. Shotrocket6 00:12, January 26, 2012 (UTC)

"If a user insults or cusses at another, that constitutes as a personal attack, and has a high chance of resulting in a block" - This kind of means insulting joke, but you have to really read into it, perhaps all that is necessary is some rewording.

I hate stereotypes and I find them offensive, but not if it is obviously just a joke and the user doesn't really think that way. Also, I have noticed lately that people find it okay to make fun of Americans. I get very tired of mentioning something about the United States and someone else responding with something offensive. I want to be able to say I'm American without feeling afraid that somebody is going to start a flame-war over it. (By the way, this goes for all countries but I've noticed it the most with the US.) When I brought this up, I mean that it should re-worded into it somewhere, like what Sam said. Exactly what I mean, some re-wording.
