Should we merge Akimbo and Dual Wield into the same article, because they are basically the same attachments, but with a different name, and in a different game. ŖЁĠͧŢ3ŔΣĎ ₵ΘИ♰®|฿Ū†ÖṜHi 07:10, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting support Support — Hmmm yea I'd say so.Sniperteam82308 07:20, January 2, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Vehement Oppose — Hell no. If we do that we'll have to merge a shit-ton of other articles. NO. Just no. M1911 smallYüri KaslovM1911 small right 23:56, January 7, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting neutral Neutral — It could be done. Shotrocket6 Talk 00:02, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting neutral Neutral — We'd have to make a lot of exceptions like that. But then again, who cares? To get REALLY technical, we should put the CoD2 and CoD4 sections of Akimbo into Dual Wield. They are not called Akimbo, and the real life name is Dual Wield. Hope that makes sense.M249 menu icon CoD4gamemasta424 TalkM249 menu icon CoD4 00:15, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

I'd also like to add that that would effectively be breaking the "fourth wall" which this wiki follows in general; we treat all in-game things as fictional. Technically dual wield and akimbo could be two totally different things M1911 smallYüri KaslovM1911 small right 00:22, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — Per Yuri, it's the reason we don't enforce half our policies fully, if we do it once we'll have to do it over and over again with every example, the M16 and M16A4, M60 and M60E4, the MP5 and MP5K... you get the point. Smuff [The cake is a lie.] 00:40, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

The point he's trying to make is that Akimbo and Dual Wield are the same thing; those you listed are not. Shotrocket6 Talk 17:56, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — Per Smuff & Yuri. Personal WHISKEY35 signature Talk 03:09, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — As another example, Masterkey and Shotgun (Attachment) are the same thing, but they have different articles, so why should Akimbo and Dual wield be any different? elmo's Elmo 150px ramblings 12:17, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

I'd just like to quickly point out that the reverse can also apply. This isn't a strong argument for or against anything. --Scottie theNerd 04:31, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — Per all opposing. --ukimies {talk | irc | administration} 15:51, January 8, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — We take precedent from the game. While the functions are identical, different games refer to them as different things, and that's enough to have separate articles. --Scottie theNerd 04:31, January 10, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — Well we merged Silencer and Suppressor together, then why don't we merge it? ŖЁĠͧŢ3ŔΣĎ ₵ΘИ♰®|฿Ū†ÖṜHi 06:21, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

That is a wonderful, wonderful argument. Shotrocket6 Talk 17:54, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
It's a good point. However, a silencer and suppressor is, by all means, the same thing. Where there are two different things, even with the same function, we should give the game the benefit of the doubt and keep them separate. For example, we don't merge Suppressor with Flash Hider even though they function practically the same, or Warlord with One Man Army. --Scottie theNerd 11:26, January 15, 2011 (UTC)
Uhhhh... you mean warlord and Bling, yeah? Smuff[citation provided] 19:40, January 15, 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the correction. --Scottie theNerd 08:08, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Oppose — If we do this, we'll have countless arguments over merging. Better to have them seperate than people endlessy merging.AdvancedRookie 18:14, January 14, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting oppose Strong Oppose — NO. If we do that, then reflex sight, aperture sight, and red dot sight will all merge as well.Dragunov Menu Icon Black OpsCpt. DragunovWMD2 02:52, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — This is a strawman argument. Dual wield and akimbo are the exact same thing (character holds a gun in each hand, but cannot ADS.) The RDS, reflex sight have minute differences, but are different all the same. The Aperture Sight has no red dot, the Reflex Sight has a lower zoom, etc. Hk37 Need help? Contact me here! Woops, did not mean to throw aperture sight in there. But still, they are different attachments. What would we call the page anyway? Dual Akimbo? Dragunov Menu Icon Black OpsCpt. DragunovWMD2 06:10, January 20, 2011 (UTC)
Either/or. They both mean the same thing, though Dual Wield is arguably more recognisable. --Scottie theNerd 06:41, January 20, 2011 (UTC)

Pictogram voting comment Comment — I believe that, interpreting our current naming policy, it's appropriate to consider Dual Wield to be a "different" perk to Akimbo, given the benefit of the doubt that they are in different games. Compare with, for example, Recon Plane, which is exactly the same in function as UAV and Spy Plane. --Scottie theNerd 08:08, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

So we not only need to keep these two separate, but also separate Silencer and Suppressor! Shotrocket6 Talk 03:14, January 18, 2011 (UTC)
A suppressor and a silencer is, by all means, the same thing in COD and in Real Life. But then again, so is Dual Wield/Akimbo, so... --Scottie theNerd 03:35, January 18, 2011 (UTC)
