I was just watching the Call of Duty: ELITE briefing a while ago, and when I saw the clan feature, I thought "Who are some friends that can be in my clan?" Of course, I instantly thought of an ELITE clan for the Wiki! Would you guys support having an official Call of Duty Wiki ELITE clan? Please explain why or why not.
SUPERDUPER IMPORTANT NOTE: Many users have stated that since a Clan is limited to 100 people, we can divide clans by platform AND the Clan would be an extension of the CDWC, meaning only CDWC members would be able to join the clan to avoid inactive users and users who are usually unreliable and are not active in the Wiki/Clan. What are your thoughts on this? Should this idea be left in the dust or approved?

Support — We can always make more than one clan for the wiki. Think of them as companies or something. Heck have each crat' be a captain/clan leader, problem solved. Carbonite 0 22:43, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose — No, ELITE Won't come out for the wii, it just won't. Besides, we have the CDWC. Reznov115Talk 18:11, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- The wii gaming community is small as it is, not to mention the CoD wiki wii community. PierogiTalk 18:13, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- So the Wiki can't have a clan because it won't work for Wii? So if Wii doesn't get it, no one does? Sounds like jealousy. DarkMetroid567 00:52, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
- Vote stuck out due to irrelevancy in the arguments. Reznov is free to re-submit a vote but with different arguments. Just because the Wii doesn't get it doesn't mean no one does. 17:19, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
Oppose — CDWC can cover more anyway, but the ELITE users can make their own clans aside from the wiki. YELLOWLUCARIO TALK 20:51, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- "CDWC can cover more anyway" What are you seriously talking about? 17:19, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
- It means that CDWC can have more than 100 members, and covers more than MW3 and BO, and ELITE can't do that, as far as is known (you're not gonna get ELITE for games like COD:Zombies and Mobilized, but in CDWC we can cover them) YELLOWLUCARIO TALK 17:23, September 6, 2011 (UTC)
- Does CDWC have stat comparison and other social stuff? No. ELITE does many things the CDWC does not do. The CDWC things can cover other stuff, but we might as well use ELITE for MW2 and BO.DarkMetroid567 00:04, September 8, 2011 (UTC)

- I'm thinking this vote should be counted as invalid, as their is not serious meditated reasoning, just something he typed up. Struck it through, he is misinformed, COD:E is an extension not a replacement. The Wikia Contributor T | C | E | Q02:00, September 13, 2011 (UTC)

Oppose — Ok, I am likely going to get pwned here. Pretty much, CDWC covers more. ELITE only covers Black Ops and Modern Warfare 3. Besides, I don't know about you guys, but I am really not all that interested in stats. Also, will this phase out the CDWC? Reznov115Talk
- CDWC does NOT cover more. We should be using ELITE anyways for BO and MW3 while still keeping CDWC. ELITE and CDWC are different in their own ways. Oh, and one more thing... YOU'RE OPPOSING BECAUSE YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT STATS? Hmmmm.... DarkMetroid567 22:30, September 8, 2011 (UTC)
Oppose — ELITE clans are limited in numbers (100 members), and I foresee problems waiting to happen if the same criteria of CDWC entry is applied to this. Unless admittance to this ELITE clan is elaborated upon, and is more strict than its counterpart, people are going to be left out. Bovell Talk | Contrib. 01:23, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
Discussion
You do know this is the war room not the "let's go and make something new for no reason"? -- CakeMixN7 nty 00:49, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- This is discussion for whoever approves a Wiki Clan for when Modern Warfare 3 comes out. Some people might not like the idea. Besides, the War Room completely allows this. Otherwise, threads like the On this Day feature would not make any sense. DarkMetroid567 00:51, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
ELITE clans are limited to 100 players. Additionally, a #CoDWiki group exists for those with access to the Beta. Bovell Talk | Contrib. 01:58, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- Is #CoDWiki a clan? I'm a bit confused by the difference between clans and groups (I don't have ELITE). Poketape Talk 04:07, September 5, 2011 (UTC)
- What do we do if all the spots are filled and people still want to join? And will this be a extension of the CDWC or a new thing cause, I'm alitte confused. REDSKIN-2613:28, September 5, 2011 (UTC)

Question — Can users only join one clan at a time or can they be in multiple clans? Poketape Talk 04:03, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
Comment — I would like to make this perfectly clear to all, so forgive me if I come across brashly. CDWC ELITE WILL BE AN EXTENSION CDWC, NOT A STRAIGHT REPLACEMENT. Even though ELITE IS ACTUALLY FREE TO GET, It could serve as one. There are NO VISIBLE DOWN SIDES to having an ELITE clan for the wiki. TheDocRichtofen (Talk) 21:04, September 9, 2011 (UTC)
- Why would this phase out the CDWC? ELITE and CDWC are do different things. DarkMetroid567 22:39, September 9, 2011 (UTC)
- Exactly. TheDocRichtofen (Talk) 08:25, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
If the CDWC clan gets full, why can't we just make another group that shows that the clan is still growing, ex. Call of Duty Wiki Clan (cont.)? CoaZTalk 16:23, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
- Yea, like the idea Carbonite suggested. Hip-techboy Christmas 16:26, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
- I guess. I didn't read his suggestion. CoaZTalk 19:44, September 10, 2011 (UTC)
- I think the only issue with having "CDW2" is who goes into the first 100. How can a fair system be made to decide on it. TheDocRichtofen (Talk) 08:46, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Maybe we should have a high maispace edit requirement to get in. PoketapeTalk 19:33, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- That wouldn't be fair to many people though. But, I can't think of any other ideas, so meh. Hip-techboy Christmas 19:36, September 11, 2011 (UTC)
- Well, it would be actually. This wiki is primarily about creating a good source of information on Call of Duty. If you are not doing this as well as another user is, then that user should be rewarded for his hard work. But then again, it depends on whether we want the ELITE Clan to be seriously competative. - OR-OR-OR The ELITE Wiki Clan could only be joined by CDWC members. DarkMetroid567 02:02, September 13, 2011 (UTC)
- Wut? I, for one, do not like the idea of a high edit count (yes... I have a pretty low edit count compared to others, so everyone can see me as someone trying to beg his place into something, yeah, yeah). The point of a clan or group, based on a game, is to have fun in-game, or to be skilled or 'pro' in something concerned with being in-game. Why a high edit count on the Wiki would change the chances of any member getting in beats me.... wait, am I the only one who thinks this? Tsunami VoltTalk
I like the idea of creating a CDWC clan page for each system. That would probably work the best. CoaZTalk 01:17, September 14, 2011 (UTC)
- This. That way the clan wouldn't be filled as much. DarkMetroid567 01:49, September 14, 2011 (UTC)
- I believe they will be for only one system anyway. Bovell Talk | Contrib. 15:23, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- I think you can create a clan page (ex. CDWC) for more then one platform, as there are many cross-platform clans out there. CoaZTalk 23:44, September 18, 2011 (UTC)
- There's technical problems with making leaderboards cross-platform, which is something that would be part of a clan feature.
Closed -- This forum has been open for just over a month, and since the last edit was on the 26th of September, I'd assume it has run its course. When ELITE is finally out of the beta stage, a clan will be made for the wiki. The details can be ironed out at a later date, once we understand how ELITE will work in full.
