Forums: Index Help desk Call of Duty 2 error - Anyone figured this out???

I just purchased Call of Duty 2 yesterday (NOT MW2, but the one from 2006). After it finished downloading/installing (I bought it on Steam), I tried to launch the singleplayer. The screen went black, as expected, but as soon as it started playing the Activision intro video, it froze. I 'humphed', had to force quit it, and tried again. Long story short, it freezes on the intro screen EVERY SINGLE TIME I TRY AND LAUNCH IT! I even tried leaving it on the entire night, thinking it would buffer, and unfreeze, but it didn't work. Multiplayer mode works perfectly, but i didn't pay 20 dollars for just the multiplayer. i know my computer can handle it, as it can run just about anything, but i can't figure this out! on the CoD2 Steam forums, there's a topic expressing concern over the exact same issue, and someone reccomended changing resolution, but that didn't work. Is there anything that can be done for this? I'm EXTREMELY annoyed with it. Thanks ~Wildperson~

I had the same problem. I fixed it by downloading the patches online, although I don't know why Steam just wouldn't have the most recent version up for download. Anyway, just google "Call of Duty 2 patches" and click around until you find good links. If that doesn't work, just skip through the Intro video's really fast with the spacebar or ESC button or Enter/Return key, that's how I handled it until I downloaded the patches.
