It's no secret, our trivia sections often rival the rest of the article. This is not a proposition to make PAGENAME/Trivia, this is to cut out most of the section and to add it to the relavent sections of the article.

Examples:[]
  • Category:Trivia
Forseen Results[]
  1. Larger main articles
  2. Reduction in trivia section sizes
  3. Deletion of trivia articles and category
  4. Cleaner looking articles

If anyone has any disagreements let them be known by tomorrow night, it will be my last day on the wiki.

Yeah but the CoD series is quite small to begin with, if you were to cut Soap's age in half, which is a flagship article, it would be tiny. Yes, trivia is a pain in the ass, but sometimes we need it just to pad stuff out. Pirateflag emblem MW2 Smuff 22:41, September 10, 2010 (UTC)

Why would we need to pad stuff out? There's nothing good about writing longer articles. Content quality is more important than irrelevant material. This is basic cleanup that we should already be doing. --Scottie theNerd 04:55, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

It's still nice to have trivia to tell you small little things that are too irrelevant to be in the article. Cpl. Dunn(Talk) 13:20, September 11, 2010 (UTC)

I never said get rid of it 100%, just place it in the right sections. DoltenDolten signature USMC logo Let's Talk 15:43, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Well we are an encyclopedia, and it's our job to make as comprehensive a database as we can. Getting rid of more trivia is now just becoming time-consuming and counter-productive. Pirateflag emblem MW2 Smuff 20:42, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Trivia isn't encyclopedic, though. It's trivia, as in trivial, as in unimportant to the core subject of a given article. If we have to depend on trivia to make an article, we're not doing this wiki thing right. -- Commdor (Talk) 20:52, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
This should be a project page, can it be moved? DoltenDolten signature USMC logo Let's Talk 21:18, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
It doesn't matter, it's been done countless times, this kind of project does not work! No-one is ever bothered to do anything about it and new editors keep adding more. I'm sorry, but these never carry through.Pirateflag emblem MW2 Smuff 22:02, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Try it god-damn-it. DoltenDolten signature USMC logo Let's Talk 22:06, September 11, 2010 (UTC)
Both of you calm down. As it stands there are articles that are more trivia than article. Do you know why Wikipedia doesn't have trivia sections as long as ours? Because it's NOT RELEVANT. No article in Wikipedia tells us "so and so was mentioned in x game/movie/book" in trivia format such as our wiki does. If it's pointless or not is not to be discussed now: what we need to do is sort out what needs to stay and what goes. Cpl. Wilding 01:26, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
Proposals like these don't work because only a few editors are bothered enough to maintain it. That doesn't mean it shouldn't be the case. We should be keeping the articles clean and professional as possible, and if you don't want to be involved, Smuff, don't speak out against it as if we're doing the wrong thing. It's no different to the Real Life Project: new editors will continually add RL content and we have to remove it. --Scottie theNerd 01:32, September 12, 2010 (UTC)
As I asked before, can this be moved to a project page? It fits in better there. DoltenDolten signature USMC logo Let's Talk 00:52, September 17, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - No consensus. Didn't pass. Darkman 4 22:58, October 24, 2010 (UTC)
