So as a late aide to the image project of 2012, I believe that it would be useful if custodians have the ability to delete files.
The reason why this could be a good idea is because at the moment they are trusted to maintenance files in every other possible way, i.e. renaming and suppressing their redirects. To allow them to delete images would be of little harm and of a huge benefit to the cleanup project, because of the large amount of unused/poor quality and otherwise deletable images that still remain lingering on the wiki.
However if we were to do this and give them the ability to delete images (of course, regulated by the Abuse filter), we would need to restructure the group as this is a large responsibility, so custodians who are inactive would need to re-submit a request. Custodians who are active can simply leave their name in a list below this and they may keep their custodian rights because they would clearly be informed of this change, as they would have obviously read the forum.
Thanks for reading!

Yes, please! Custodians being able to delete images would greatly improve on cracking down on unused and low quality images. DarkMetroid567okay 01:57, August 4, 2012 (UTC)
