I was about to create articles for achievements/trophies seen in-game (examples being "Back in the Saddle," "The Price of War," "The Mile High Club," ect.). However, I stumbled upon sub-pages (Call of Duty 2/Achievements, Call of Duty 3/Achievements) and standard pages (Call of Duty 4 Achievements, Call of Duty: World at War Achievements) for them.

Right off the bat you can tell there is little consistency here, as some are sub-pages and others are not. Additionally, I found a walkthrough for a game's achievements that looks pretty disorganized.

So, my question is do we create separate articles for each achievement (I did have plans to use a template, but that may not be necessary after this discussion)? If not, do we leave them listed on separate pages or put them on a sub-page of the game in question? Click for a list of other admins Bovell Talk | Contrib. 20:43, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I can see why a single page for all the achievements in a game may exist as a subpage to the game, but if we're going to make them separate I don't see why we would still have them be subpages of the game they're from. That would be like having Randall located at "Call of Duty 2/Randall". Giving them their own pages would allow more detail to be given besides just their score and in-game description. I don't see why we shouldn't. Master SergeantSgt. ChiafriendRifleman 21:38, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, I agree. If we're going to have separate pages for achievements, why not make them completely separate? I think there's nothing wrong with having separate articles for achievements, and then linking them to the respective achievements page. Also, this inconsistency with the naming should be fixed, I don't mind which way we go with that, we can either make the CoD4 and CoD5 achievement pages subpages, or the CoD2 and CoD3 achievement pages their own pages. If we end up making separate pages for achievements, then Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Achievements walkthrough will not be needed.  FANMADE_Animated_Derpy_Hooves_desktop_ponies_sprite.gif Sig1.png Sig2.png  22:11, August 15, 2010 (UTC)

I think seperate pages should be made for achievements. I see no real point in making them as subpages, per Chiafriend. Sigr5od Talk? Edits 00:31, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

A single article for all in-game achievements seems like a good idea. They would be ordered by game, with subsections containing missions, followed by achievements that can be earned in that mission. Achievements that can be earned in multiple missions would go under a misc. section of the game. Under each achievement will be the name, what must be done to complete the achievement, and tips on how to do it (avoid addressing the reader). LITE992 03:32, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

That page would be unnecessarily long and unorganized.  FANMADE_Animated_Derpy_Hooves_desktop_ponies_sprite.gif Sig1.png Sig2.png  11:11, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Per Callofduty4, it would be best to have each game's achievements as their own seperate article. Sigr5od Talk? Edits 13:43, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with Callofduty4 and Chiafriend12. Cpl. Dunn(Talk) 13:44, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Seeing how many achievements are in the series, I agree with COD4 and Chia. LITE992 14:58, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Skullrod and LITE, you're confused, we're advocating one page for each achievement, not one page for all the achievements in one game.  FANMADE_Animated_Derpy_Hooves_desktop_ponies_sprite.gif Sig1.png Sig2.png  15:31, August 16, 2010 (UTC)
Like so. Click for a list of other admins Bovell Talk | Contrib. 15:43, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

I know this may sound a bit annoying, but i have a possible idea. on BFW, we simply put the achivements/trophies for Bad Company and Bad Company 2 on two different pages w:c:battlefield:Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Achievements and Trophies such as the one here and listed them all out alongside pictures and trophy type/gamerscore gained from it. You could do a similar thing here, and if needed make a page for campaign achievements/trophies and a page for multiplayer achievements/trophies for each game with detailed descriptions for how to obtain the achievement/trophy. It's just a passing suggestion Desert rat HeatedPeteTalk 19:44, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

The Red Dead wiki has a page for every achievement. This is useful, but with this wiki spanning many games this would create a lot of stub articles. I think there should at least be pages with charts of the achievements and how they're earned and perhaps pages for some of the bigger achievements. There's no rule for organization in that. What do you even consider to be "bigger"? Click for a list of other admins Bovell Talk | Contrib. 21:29, August 16, 2010 (UTC)

Achievements should not be subpages. We don't make game-related articles subpages, such as Call of Duty: World at War/Type 100. >SiPlus -talk -contributions_ 08:15, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

I like the way achievements are displayed on the Red Dead Wiki. While the Call of Duty wiki covers far too many games to have individual pages, I think we should have one page for each set of achievements/trophies. However, one thing I think we should adopt from the Red Dead wiki is having achievements at the bottom of an article. For example, we put an ==Achievements/Trophies== section on the bottom with a list of achievements correlating to the article. For example, look at this article. -- CoD addict · (talk) 16:46, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Why would having a large series be a reason not to include something? We're not limited by number of pages—only by what we're willing to do. Master SergeantSgt. ChiafriendRifleman 21:41, August 17, 2010 (UTC)
"While the Call of Duty wiki covers far too many games to have individual pages" - That's exactly why we should have individual pages, having one page would be far too big and like the old callsign page, would take a long time to load. Seperate pages would be more efficient, in my opinion. Sigr5od Talk? Edits 22:40, August 17, 2010 (UTC)
I actually agree now. Halopedia does it that way, and it works there. However, we must take care of these articles. -- CoD addict · (talk) 03:35, August 19, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, that's a good idea. We seperate acheivements for sub pages, then users can find which acheivement they want and how to get it. Gold emblem MW2DevilWarrior112Talk Edits20:25, August 17, 2010 (UTC)

Having each set of game achievements as their own article would seem more efficient, in my opinion. Sigr5od Talk? Edits 02:10, August 20, 2010 (UTC)
I dont see why not.File:Intervention Userbox.pngRampantlion513 Wanna Talk?? Edits 04:39, August 21, 2010 (UTC)
It's been effective on the RD:W. Some achievements are trickier than others, and can be explained much better if they have an entire page. Then again, COD achievements are generally way more basic than those of red dead, but it would still be nice to have relevant achievements at the bottom of a page. So, not "Make 5 headshots with any weapon in a mission" or "make 5 kills in a row with different weapons" but more like "finish this level and contingency on veteran" Lordofthelargepants The Zipper and The Pockets 09:21, August 22, 2010 (UTC)

Closed - The majority of users prefer to use individual pages for each achievement if we are to make pages for achievements. The points provided by this side were not argued against by those who did not prefer this way. --Callofduty4 23:31, October 9, 2010 (UTC)
