Ever since the CDWC began hosting events, I've had the idea of a Wiki Call of Duty tournament, but there hasn't been a suitable time frame to host it. After the CoD4 event, there is no definitive move; do we start the cycle over, or do we branch into another series? I present an alternative: in late July/early August (or earlier) (school holidays for most people) we host a MW3 tournament.

Organisation

Depending on the number of users interested, we have two options.

1. A straightforward FFA tournament. This is the easiest to run, and would be best with small numbers. Similar to the FIFA World Cup or NFL, we could have groups of 4-6 players, followed by a knockout stage.
2. A team tournament. This is my preferred idea, and the one I planned for. It would involve 2-4 groups of 4-6 4-man teams (if that makes sense) which would then follow the same structure as above.

We'd also need a prize for the winner

Game rules

Subject to change per discussion. These are mainly for balance.

• Standard TDM/FFA time/kill limit (core).
• Default Maps
• No Stealth Bomber in Support
• No FMG9s

FFA would be better then TDM, since it'd be your skill against everyone else's. If we did TDM, good players might get stuck in a team full of bad ones. Also, no restrictions on weapons/kill streaks. Conqueror of all Zombies 18:51, April 29, 2012 (UTC)

How about we do both TDM and FFA? two seperate tournaments relatively close to one another, if not on the same day. Top 3 teams in TDM get a medal and Top 3 people in FFA get a medal as well. Everybody gets to play in the gametype they want. And if there not too close to one another, people from ffa can also be in the tdm tournament. I really think it unwise to go strictly by the GameBattles rules. Why not just include everything, bar a few clearly overpowered weapons (like FMGs)?

I agree. Banning weapons seems too complicated and hard to enforce. I would imagine it being quite frustrating if someone was misinformed and used the weapons/the player is trolling and the match would have to be reset. Lyra_(SPNKR)^{is the bo$$} 21:05, May 13, 2012 (UTC)

Behind The Scenes

Just wondering, who will be working behind the scenes doing all the scoring and everything? As I will not be competing, I will be happy to devise a scoring system and use it to work out who wins each round.

First off, considering most of the games will be FFA, the winners are the first and second players (third if need be).

The best idea I have is to have a score keeper (let's call them that) on each console and a leader for each pool, when a game is over, the leaders tell the score keeper who won and is moving on, and the score keeper will sort out who goes where and what games need to be set up. Seeing as the score keeper will be setting everything up, they will need to be able to invite the winners to a lobby to set up the next game, which would also require some empty spaces on their friends list. If we do happen to go with a system similar to this, it would probably be helpful to have more than one score keeper.

Asian/Australian Time-Zone Roster

There has been a lot of discussion and feedback on whether a separate competition can be slotted aside the American/European timezones. So here, I am proposing that a group be made to host Asian/Australian players. Thinning out the details, and by plan:

• The group will play at a more convienent time - mostly likely 4pm in respective to their timezones. Whether this will be a day before or after is a minor issue (though it will most likely be before, so as to not delay the 'final round' of the tournament).
• Rules will still apply with the same weight and no changes (unless last minute) will be made to them.

One small problem will be the final tournament. Those who advance from the FFA will most surely face connection lag and related disadvantages. Therefore, I also propose that this final round be made a bit more convienent for us here in Asia/Australia and be changed to a different time, such as 8pm UTC +8 (HK), and 12pm for the Americans and Europeans, I presume. Date & Time

Since the majority of the organisation is done, all that needs to be set is the date and time for the event. Going off previous events, it would be best to have it on a Saturday, with five possible dates. It will be at 6PM UTC/2PM EST (Asia/Australia-friendly time TBC)

Possible dates:

• June 30th
• July 7th
• July 14th
• July 21st
• July 28th
