Ground War, also known as Booms of Plenty as an April Fool's day joke[1], is a playlist for 12-18 players. It is the only playlist that can accommodate 18 players (except for Hardcore War in Call of Duty: World at War, and Infected in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and in Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, as all others can have no more than 12 players). This game-type appears in every main Call of Duty game since Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. Ground War is not present on Nintendo Wii and has since been removed from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms after Call of Duty: Black Ops II, due to the limitations in performance for the old gen consoles.
The mode returns in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 's Blackout mode as a 50v50 Battle Royale mode. [2]
In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Ground War features 32v32 matches on specific large maps with vehicular transportation and combat, and a squad spawning mechanic.
In Call of Duty: Mobile, the "Ground War" there are two variations. The Classic Ground War, that works on some 5v5 based maps and the Ground War in large scale, which works exactly as in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, with 5 points to capture and only works on specific maps. There is also the variant called Skirmish, which allows for more players, that being 12 on both teams.

Requires Platform Crossplay to be enabled and unlike regular Domination, there are five control points instead of three and a time limit of 20 minutes. A team that secures a control point can spawn anywhere at that location. When a team managed to capture all five control points and hold them for 45 seconds, a Tactical Nuke will be automatically called in, resulting in a victory for the team. Vehicles such as the IAV, APC, ATV, and MH-6 Little Bird are also featured. APC works as a mobile respawn point for a team when it is not in combat and has more than 50% health.
Realism Ground War is a gametype added in Season Two of Modern Warfare. It features the same objectives and maps, but uses the realism ruleset, disabling all HUD and allowing one shot headshots with any weapon.
Boots On The Ground War removes the larger IAV, APC, and MH-6 Little Bird vehicles for more ground-based combat, and less action at otherwise higher ground areas of the map. Other vehicles including the ATV, SUV, and Tac Rover are still available for players to commandeer in order to move on the ground faster and farther.
