Porter's name is a reference to the Treyarch developer Max Porter, who designed the original Ray Gun.
In the timeline, Porter is said to die from a cyanide capsule. However, in the respective radio from Der Riese, Porter says he cannot find his pills, and is heard choking together with the sound of a chair scraping (according to the Vbush files), as if he hung himself.
The Group 935 manual by Ludvig Maxis mentions these cyanide capsules: "In the event of any critical failure, you are instructed to take your cyanide tablet that's included in your field operations kit. In the event that you have misplaced yours, there are several methods that will accomplish the same task."
