The year is 1999, 20 years ago in Riyzabbi, Urzikstan, Farah is trapped under a collapsed building that was destroyed by Russian artillery under the command of Barkov. Farah frees herself from being pinned by the rubble and sees that her mother died. Some voices can be heard searching for survivors and Farah find a brick and bangs it against some sheet metal. The voices hear her and rescue workers wearing white helmets find her and cut the debris that trapped her. The rescuers pull her out. Her father Walid is happy that she is okay. The workers pull out her mothers body and a deceased male child, causing Walid to wonder where Hadir is. Farah tells her father that she and her mother left Hadir at home to study. A fighter jet is seen bombing the surrounding area and the people panic. Waild carries her away from the fighting and tells her that they need to go get Hadir and leave town.

Waild meets up with his friendShadi and warns him the Barkov's soldiers are looking for resistance fighter and they need to go, but Waild tells him that he needs to get his son. As they head down the street Russian soldiers in a truck arrive and start shooting at civilians. Waild tells Farah to follow him and as they draw near their house, more Russian soldiers begin shooting poisonous gas at the family. They quickly enter the house and Hadir greets them, telling his father that he followed orders to close the windows when the bombs fell. Walid commends Hadir and gives  a gas mask to Hadir and phones just in case they get lost.

As they are leaving a Russian soldier breaks into the house, aiming his AK-47 at Waild while Waild begs the soldier to not hurt his children. Waild throws a backpack at the soldier and the two fight. The soldier pull out a knife to stab Walid. Hadir intervenes but the soldier knocks him to the ground. Waild grabs a vase, hits the soldier and grabs his knife. Walid is able to stab the soldier but is soon overpowered. Waild tells Farah to run and the soldier grabs his AK-47 and shoots Walid. Farah hides from the soldier.

The soldier's superior radios him for his status and the soldier states that he has captured a child (Hadir) for Barkov in the house and asks his superior if he could kill the child, but his superior tells him not to as they intend to use him as a human shield against snipers. The soldier states that there was another child in the house (Farah) and his superior allows him to capture the other child. The soldier spots Farah shoots at her. At this point, the player is tasked with finding sharp objects to stab the soldier. After stabbing the soldier mutiple times, the soldier grabs Farah and begin choking her. Hadir appears and stabs him. Hadir holds his neck and tells Farah to stab him. After stabbing the soldier multiple time, the soldier overpowers Hadir. Farah is able to grab his AK-47 and kill him with it. Farah then takes the soldiers gas mask. Walid talks to them before dying. The two break the door lock and head outside. Hadir and Farah navigate throught the town and avoid more soldiers.

Eventually they arrive at a field and they take off their gas mask as the air is safe. Hadir sees a truck and plans on stealing to get out of the area, but two soldiers are seen standing near the truck. Hadir tells Farah to use the cell phone to distract the soldiers. Farah grabs a revolver a soldier left and kills the two soldiers.

Hadir gets into the truck, but General Barkov appears and grabs Farah before she can board. He tells a soldier to grab Hadir. The soldiers place Hadir and Farah on a truck. Barkov confronts Farah and states "So you're the devil who killed my soldiers?" and smiles at her and says "Perfect" in Russian. He then blindfolds Farah.

Present day, Farah and Alex are seen recovering from chlorine gas that Hadir deployed. Price and Garrick arrive but Farah calls out for Hadir and is angry that he used a chemical weapon. Price tells her that Hadir is gone. They take Alex and Farah to a helicopter.
