- — The Homunculus[1]
The Homunculus is a throwable wonder weapon featured on the Chaos Zombies maps Voyage of Despair, IX, Dead of the Night, and Ancient Evil in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.
Overview[]
Zombies[]
The Homunculus appears to be some kind of small monster armed with a club. When primed, the player will inject a syringe into it which will cause the Homunculus to come to life, and immediately attempt to get out of the players hand. The player will then throw the Homunculus, which will then stand guard in the area it lands in. Most of the Chaos Crew and Dead of the Night Crew will speak to the Homunculus as they throw it, indicating some kind of familiarity or kinship with the creature.
If Zombies or other enemies approach this area, the Homunculus will yell a war cry, and jump to any nearby zombie and bash their head with the club, killing them instantly. The Homunculus will repeat this by jumping from zombie to zombie for roughly about 20 seconds before disappearing into a cloud of smoke. It can attract larger zombies, such as Destroyers, Marauders and the Blightfather, but it seems to only be able to distract them and will not damage or kill them.
When idle with nothing to kill the Homunculus will dance, complete with a short music track.
Multiplayer and Blackout[]
The Homunculus appears when a player performs the "Homunc-a-shuffle" taunt, where it will dance with the player before disappearing in a cloud of purple smoke. It has no further appearances in either mode.

Trivia[]
- On IX, throwing an Homunculus outside of the map towards the crowd will make it cheer, creating "the wave".
- On Voyage of Despair, an Homunculus can be seen dancing outside of a map, signaling a code using flags.[2]
- In Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, the Bundle "Necromage" has the Homunculus as a finishing move that the player can perform either with the enemy standing, laying down or when the enemy is downed/knocked down.
