The Hunt for the Wolf is a major event in the Modern Warfare reboot timeline.
Background[]
The hunt for Omar "The Wolf" Sulaman began following the Piccadilly Circus terrorist attack and the theft of a stockpile of Russian chlorine gas. Al Qatala publicly claimed responsibility for the attack and was suspected of having perpetrated the theft as well.
First Phase[]
US operation in Rammaza[]
- Main article: Hunting Party
After receiving intel from Kyle Garrick and John Price, gleaned from a raid on an AQ cell in England, Alex, along with Hadir and Farah Karim, went to Rammaza Hospital to capture Omar "The Wolf" Sulaman. He joined with Sergeant Marcus Griggs and his elite unit, the Demon Dogs, who moved to attack the hospital that Al-Qatala had taken over. As they proceeded toward the target, they were hit by IEDs, as well as machine gun and sniper fire from concealed positions. With the aid of friendly M2A2 Bradley and Stryker armor units and AH-64 Apaches, they were able to move to and breach into the hospital. Inside the hospital, they encountered enemy ambushes and explosive booby traps which had to be disarmed. Hostile fighters hid amongst civilian patients further confusing things. During the clearance, contact was lost with one of their units, Demon 3. As they neared a chained door, the force heard voices and used a fiber optic snake cam to see into the barricaded room. There, The Wolf was holding the three members of Demon 3, Lee, Norman, and Hughes, hostage and was preparing to execute them on video. Acting quickly, the combined force breached and safely recovered all three Marines while capturing The Wolf. The Wolf was then brought to the US Embassy for interrogation and eventual transport.

Second Phase[]
Siege of The U.S. Embassy[]
- Main article: The Embassy
After his capture, Alex interrogated The Wolf as to the location of the stolen Russian chlorine gas. Rather than resisting, The Wolf admitted that his group had not stolen the gas but he wished he knew where it was. Meanwhile, hundreds of Al-Qatala supporters rallied in front of the embassy, chanting for Sulaman's release. As Garrick and Price approached the Embassy by helicopter, an RPG-7 hit their bird causing it to crash land. Garrick and Price, though, had desperately jumped off onto the Embassy's roof and survived. Making their way through the embassy, the two dispatched AQ fighters who were able to penetrate into the building. Linking up with Alex, Farah, Hadir, and the prisoner, the group decided to push to the Ambassador's residence which was guarded and still under US control. Once there, they defended against successive AQ attacks with the help of the few remaining US Marines and an armed CIA UAV drone. During the chaos of the battle, though, AQ fighters were able to blast their way into the residence and retrieve the Wolf.
Operation in Darus[]
- Main article: Highway of Death
Knowing that The Wolf was loose but still trapped within the city, the joint CIA/SAS/ULF team decided to flush him out with a hammer-anvil approach. Capt Price and Sgt Garrick began house-to-house sweeps in the city while a blocking force led by Alex and Farah monitored the Highway of Death, the only route out of Rammaza. The plan was successful and Alex and Farah's team engaged enemy AQ fighters fleeing from the city but were interrupted by the approach of Barkov's forces approaching from the desert. Seeing no other way to stop the Russians, Hadir unleashed the stolen chlorine gas revealing that The Wolf had actually been telling the truth and that Hadir, not AQ, had stolen the gas. Incapacitated by the gas, Alex and Farah were unable to stop Hadir from escaping. Meanwhile, The Wolf had also benefitted from this situation and made his way into the mountains.
Raid at Takkari[]
- Main article: The Wolf's Den (level)
Tracking Hadir, the CIA was able to observe him make contact with The Wolf and The Butcher. Mobilizing, the team descended on the mountain hideout that The Wolf had taken refuge at. Following tense close quarters combat in buildings and underground caverns within the mountain, Alex and Farah were able to corner The Wolf and neutralize him. They then had to defuse the suicide vest he was wearing which he had triggered before being killed. After disabling the vest, they moved his body to the extraction choppers.
