The Hypno Knife is a throwable Knife that appears in Extinction in Call of Duty: Ghosts, found in a search pile. It can turn an enemy Cryptid into an ally. (Except: LepersSeekers,  and the Breeder)

Trivia

  • The Hypno Knife can be picked up a few seconds after it is thrown if it misses a Cryptid. It will also glow brightly white.
  • When a Cryptid is taken over, money is rewarded based on the type of Cryptid it is. They are highlighted blue and will have a blue shield icon above them. They will also have a grey smoke effect, much like some of the campaign's cut scenes which include the Ghosts inside of vehicles.
  • Cryptids turned into allies will still be attracted to Flares.
  • Scorpions are a good Cryptid to convert because of their ranged attacks and ability to attack while on a wall or obstacle. They also tend to keep a distance from their enemies, which in turn, benefits the allied Scorpion's continued survival and support.
    • When playing Nightfall, Phantoms are good allies to have, due to their ability to teleport, high health, stronger attacks than Hunters and high agility, which lets them stay alive for significantly longer.
    • Hunters are useful Crypids to convert because of their increased health and damage compared to Scouts, which allows them to effectively support players longer.
    • It is ill advised to convert Scouts dues to their lack of health and attack strength compared to the other Cryptids, which makes them rather ineffective. It's best to keep your Hypno knife for stronger Cryptids.
  • It is possible to have multiple 'converted' Cryptids at the same time. Although this depends on the amount of Knives found.
  • Seeker Cryptids cannot be converted. A thrown Hypno Knife will cause an instant explosion of the Seeker.
    • Lepers cannot be converted. A thrown Hypno Knife will cause instant death to the Leper.
    • In Nightfall, the Breeder cannot be converted, however it turns on an easter egg.
  • There is an upgrade in the armory that allows you to convert Rhinos (costs 50 teeth).
