The Imperial Japanese Navy (Kyûzitai: 大日本帝國海軍, Sinzitai: 大日本帝国海軍) or IJN, officially the Navy of the Greater Japanese Empire, were the naval forces of the Empire of Japan from 1869 to 1947. In the Call of Duty series, it is an enemy faction appearing in Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Vanguard during the Pacific War. Its land counterpart was the Imperial Japanese Army.

Call of Duty: World at War[]

The Imperial Japanese Navy only appears in the level "Black Cats". Their merchant vessels were attacked by the United States Navy with PBY Catalinas. Several A6M Zeros of the fleet air arm, PT Boats and kamikazes will try to stop the American attack.

Despite the boats personels being Navy sailors, they wear Imperial Japanese Army uniforms and use Arisaka rifles and Triple 25 artillery.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III[]

In the starting cutscene of the Zombies map Zetsubou No Shima, Imperial Japanese Navy sailors are seen capturing and interrogating Primis characters in the starting cutscene. The soldiers use KN-44 assault rifles and the officer uses a Katana.

Call of Duty: Vanguard[]

They appear in the campaign level "The Battle of Midway".

Officers and soldiers of the IJN can be encountered. Officers can be easily identified by the white tropical uniform they wear.
