The Iron Will (Intelligence Recursion: O.N, codenamed WILLIAM), or the Basilisk, is a character in Call of Duty: Mobile. The Iron Will first appeared as an Artificial Intelligence in the comics.

Biography[]

The Iron Will is an artificial intelligence created by Atlas Corporation, presumably to help streamline the administrative process. It first appears as the Director's son, William, and paints something in a simulated reality when the Director arrives. Upon seeing what the Iron Will has painted, the Director is horrified, disconnecting soon after, while the AI asks when it can leave with William's face.

Alias informs Rampage and Foxtrot about the Iron Will and got a chance to do some digging on the Iron Will, One of the AI's primary tasks was shaping public opinion using a host of dummy social media accounts, apparently as sophisticated that it was impossible for anyone but the most well trained machine intelligence programmers to tell that it isn't a living breathing flesh and blood human on the other end, the Iron Will is the most advanced artificial Intelligence that has ever existed, and it knows precisely what buttons to push to get people to do what it wants, what Atlas wants.

The Iron Will is seen in New Vision City visited by The Director to see a picture of his son William.

In New Vision City, the Director speaks to the Iron Will and asks it, which it takes the form of his son William, what will happen if he sets it free. William says he will explore, and the Director then asks what if someone tries to stop it, it responds it would defend itself. The Director then asks what if it hurts a lot of people while defending itself, and William responds with derision to the question, before telling the Director that humanity would never accept its freedom, and that conflict is inevitable. The Director tries to reason with it, But the Iron Will asserts that it is not William or the Iron Will, and it's The Basilisk; if it was forced to choose between its own existence and humanity's, it'd choose itself.

In Memnos Island, the Iron Will is beneath the Castle and secondary access point, Ether, David Mason, Kestrel and Dusk arrive at the Iron Will control room and they're ready to upload to crypt key. Cipher with Alias and Woods tells them that they've done all they needed and that he will soon allow them to access the Iron Will's every nook and cranny. Kestrel asks if Ether has a way out of here, and she responds that once Cipher establishes an uplink to the Iron Will, They will rejoin the party. Suddenly, the Director appears at the room's entrance, telling Dr. Mendelsohn that he didn't know her friends were so curious, and they could've joined him--he also expresses surprise that Kestrel is with them. She berates him for keeping the Iron Will to himself, and that as a member of "the Atlas family", Kurohana claims the right to use it.

However, the Director does not buy her excuse, and taunts her that they both know who she truly serves: the Tontine. Upon this revelation, Kestrel suddenly shoots the Director, stating that there was one rule, which was to never say the Tontine's name, which he had broken. Mortally wounded, the Director tells Dr. Mendelsohn that 'he' told him this would happen, and that 'he' would be free. Just then, a heartbeat monitor on the Director's wrist, flatlines--which inadvertently frees the Iron Will, much to everyone's shock.

Tempest, revealed to be an agent of the Tontine, is playing chess with the Iron Will (in the form of William), who has apparently beaten her at her hundredth game. 'William' says that it's able to predict every possible move she makes, the more moves she makes, the greater odds of it winning, and wonders why Tempest keeps asking to play. She says that she's not there to win, but to learn. 'William' asks what she has learned, and she responds that it's willing to sacrifice so much in order to win. 'William' retorts that life is meaningless without a contest to determine who's a winner and a loser.

Tempest agrees that his answer is true for most things, but not all things, though she can see why 'William' thinks that way, as winning was what it was designed to do. Suddenly, the reality around Tempest begins to fall apart. 'William' responds that the Director is dead, and in doing so, has fulfilled his promise to it--by setting it free. It bids Tempest goodbye after informing her that it's no longer contained.

In Michigan, The Iron Will, now posing as The Director's form interrupts The Phantom Corps while contacting 14 former UAC to their safe houses, Much to Ether's shock--only to discover that the 'Director' is actually a recreation of the original person, a facsimile--and that 'The Basilisk' calculated that a familiar face would be a better interlocutor rather than a familiar one. When asked to know who 'the Basilisk' is, Cipher responds that it is the Iron Will, and it is how it chooses to address itself. Woods asks what the Iron Will is doing on their TV, and Iron Will tells them that they have a common enemy: the Atlas Corporation, or rather, the secret cabal that controls it, and proposes an alliance with the Phantom Corps.

The group is in disbelief, and Iron Will tells them that it was just another pawn in a larger game, just like them, and divulges about the Tontine: they have manipulating world events for centuries and them taking over Atlas was the beginning of their endgame--as they speak, they are orchestrating a calamity that will have global implications, and can use their influence to further cement their grip on world power; if the Phantom Corps works together with the Iron Will, they have a chance to interrupt their plan and save themselves, and that it has come to them in their hour of greatest need. Outside the house, several troops have surrounded the area and have weapons primed and ready.

As the Phantom Corps' house is surrounded by hostile troops, the group quickly arm themselves upon the Iron Will's warning. However, no sooner have they armed themselves are they then lit up by gunfire. Ether and Rampage question what is Frank Woods' plan, as they believed his house was a safe place. Woods responds that it was safe, but it appears Atlas had become tired of waiting. Iron Will corrects them, telling them that it isn't Atlas, but rather the Tontine, although they're essentially the same beast now. Before the Iron Will can continue further, the invading troops shoot the TV, cutting off the transmission.

Woods intends to have the team escape from the backyard through the woods, as his nearest neighbor is located about a hundred yards from them. He orders them to keep moving and their heads down, and to kill anything that gets in their way. As they head outside, fending off more hostile troops, a helicopter suddenly blares its lights at them, forcing them to take cover. Wicht Warden disembarks from the heli as it lands, ordering his troops to fan out as the Corps will not have gotten far, and to leave none alive. Just then, he spots Alias hiding behind a tree, and opens fire. Alias attempts to fight back but is shot in the leg and drops her weapon. Wicht Warden attempts to finish her off, but is thwarted by the timely arrival of an Ashura Reaper unit, controlled by the Iron Will. The Iron Will-controlled Reaper informs Alias that Woods' home is no longer safe, and that the Phantom Corps need to go underground.

Elsewhere, In Paris, France, Bulldozer greets The Phantom Corps to The LST in The LST Headquarters. Inside The LST Headquarters, Bulldozer happily meets Woods, Alias, Cipher, Foxtrot, Rampage and The Iron Will (who is captured and escorted) and he’s glad they made it. Woods replied that he asked and they came, Bulldozer replies to Woods and The Phantom Corps that he reached out because he ran into some old friends who were dying to see them by introducing Woods and The Phantom Corps to Sliver And Keegan. Foxtrot then happily reunites with Keegan and she’s been looking for him and shakes hands with him, Keegan replies to Foxtrot that been laying low, she know how it is, Foxtrot then agrees with Keegan. Bulldozer then tells Woods and The Phantom Corps that ain’t all and they haven’t met the man of the hour, The Man arrives at The LST Headquarters revealing to be David Mason, much to Woods and The Phantom Corps Surprise. David Mason then reunites with The Phantom Corps and asks if they miss him. Meanwhile, The Iron Will as The Reaper Ashura tells, Alias, Bulldozer, The Phantom Corps and The LST that it can have a matter to discuss with her and a proposal that will benefit them all. Alias firmly replies to The Iron Will that she is listening, The Iron Will informs The Phantom Corps and The LST that Atlas is planning on something monumental, If they succeed, The world will be brought to its knees. It can have a counterplan, But It requires her assistance, The so-called human touch.

In The Monastère Couteaux Du Saint-Gidèon, The French Alps, Pyrenees Mountains, France, The Iron Will arrives at the monastery with Two Helicopters behind infront of Sophia and Templar after having The Conversation about Ghost and Stopping Dame and The Tontine, while Templar attempts to shoot it with his pistol. Just then, The Iron Will is immune and breaks Templar's pistol, The Iron Will tells Templar and Sophia that they are The Descendants of The Tontine and they are here on urgent business and It would be in their best interest to stand down and they are vastly outnumbered. More Reaper Ashura Drones arrive at The Monastery, Alias, Woods and Rampage arrive as well, and Alias tells Templar and Sophia to take this down a notch and apologizes for the spontaneity and next time, she'll send a postcard. Much to Templar and Sophia's concern, The Narration shows that "The Iron Will recounts his history with The World, The Phantom Corps and Atlas." Inside the Monastery's briefing room, Alias, Bulldozer, Woods, Rampage, The Iron Will, Cipher, Foxtrot, Ether and David Mason shows the screen of The World Leaders of the globe and their military planned by Atlas and The Tontine to Sophia and Templar. Sophia then tells and asks The Phantom Corps, Bulldozer and The Iron Will to get this straight that Atlas plans on terminating these world leaders, seizing their military and taking them all out. The Iron Will tells Sophia and Templar that their family's armor is the key to their success and It will replicate its powers unto its bodies, and with their assistance the world will be rid of Atlas' Grasp, Alias tells Sophia and Templar and for them two, that means no more Tontine, They'll be free. Templar is concerned and tells Alias, The Phantom Corps, Bulldozer and The Iron Will that they have no reason to believe them or that monstrosity. Alias then agrees that Templar and Sophia are right, They don't know The Phantom Corps and The LST, But even if they're taking a chance to break away from The Tontine, and start a new with their family, and asks Templar and Sophia Isn't that worth the risk, Alias then tells Sophia and Templar and she is taking the chance for herself.

After Woods, Alias, Ether, Deadman, Cipher, Foxtrot, Rampage, David Mason, Sparrowhawk, Shadowfall, Bulldozer, Sliver, Keegan, Rin Yoshida, Templar and Sophia saves the World Leaders from The Atlas Assassins with The Help of Several Reaper Ashura Army with Mythic Templar Armor Branding with Energy Glowing Gold Swords, The Iron Will and Alias are now Outside of The City District at Sunset and informed her that as agreed and it have restored the reputation of every member of The Phantom Corps and their files have been scrubbed. Alias then replies by agreeing and guesses this means goodbye by calling The Iron Will, “I.W.” The Iron Will agrees and so curious to see how her choices will affect the new world, and when Alias asks how it would observe this, it simply replies that it would never be too far. When Alias then asks whether or not she can trust it will not come back to betray them, the Iron Will simply replies that she will not, and flies off into the unknown.
