König suffered from severe social anxiety throughout his life, often being bullied during his childhood. At the age of 17, he volunteered for the military.
While he hoped to join as a recon sniper, his physical size and his inability to stay still made him an unsuitable candidate. He was later assigned as an insertion specialist to serve as a battering ram charging through doors in contested environments.
During a mission, König took down an Al-Qatala cell in Berlin which was involved in human-trafficking. He breached the townhouse and eliminated all twelve AQ fighters inside. However, his sniper hood terrified the Urzik hostages who had to be convinced by the rest of his team to follow König to safety.
By 2022, König became a contractor for the KorTac private military company.

König was first revealed as Austrian and a member of the Jagdkommandos[3] but his Operator bio originally listed him as a German and member of the Bundeswehr's Kommando Spezialkräfte. Following the Season One update, König was once again Austrian and all mention of the Kommando Spezialkräfte was removed with Season Two.
Following the release of Season Six, the Austrian flag patch on König's default skin was changed to a German flag patch. It was reverted back to the Austrian flag patch following the release of Season Two in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Following the release of Season One in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, only in Warzone, the Austrian flag patch on König's default skin was changed to a German flag patch once again.
In the Multiplayer Open Beta, König was in the SpecGru faction.
König default skin was also called "Kilgore" until the release of Season Three.
König's "Biohazard" skin is based on the outfit of Abu "Chemist" Nassar, with a different color palette. This outfit can be unlocked via the Weapon Cases that the DMZ bosses drop, including the Chemist.
The name and unlock requirements of König's "Anonymous" skin are a reference to a quote from the real-world hacktivist group Anonymous, which states "We are Anonymous. We are Legion".
When scoring a longshot kill with a Sniper Rifle, König will sarcastically say "And they said I couldn't be a sniper...", a reference to his rejection from the position of recon sniper.
Close inspection of König's mask textures will reveal that it is made from a t-shirt.[4]
König's "Deep Lord" skin features the logo of Zakhaev Arms.
König's bloodtype is AB- as seen on his "The Wolf" skin.
