Kick is a Weapon Proficiency in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. Its icon consists of a bucking horse.

Overview[]

Kick is unlocked at weapon level 4 on all eligible classes that can receive the proficiency.

Kick's effect is very simple. It reduces a weapon's view kick and gun kick by 10%, making the affected gun kick with less force with each shot.

Kick can be safely ignored on shotguns, as recoil is not a significant factor at the ranges where shotguns can be used. Kick is also mostly useless on bolt-action sniper rifles, as the weapons fire so slowly that they will have mostly re-centered in time for the next shot. Kick is also tough to justify using on the LMGs, as LMGs have access to the Grip attachment, which not only reduces recoil values by 10%, but also increases centerspeed by 25%, making the Grip far more effective at making the affected weapon more accurate than the Kick proficiency. Kick can be stacked alongside the Grip, but this pairing is not very popular on LMGs. Using Kick on an LMG without the Grip attachment is inferior to using Attachments to use a Grip and a second attachment of choice, as the latter will be far more accurate thanks to the 25% extra centerspeed.

As the effect of Kick is percentage-based, the value of Kick is usually a case-by-case basis. Kick is extremely valuable on weapons that have large per-shot recoil, as those will be the weapons that feel the largest numeric reduction in recoil values. Weapons like the MP5, MK14, AK-47, and UMP45 will feel significantly more accurate due to recoil reduction. Weapons such as the ACR 6.8 and the MP7 that either have small recoil values and/or a consistent upwards recoil with each shot will not feel much benefit from the Kick proficiency. Weapons with significant gunkick like the AK-47 will also be less distracting visually, as Kick will reduce gunkick intensity as well.
