The L118A is a bolt-action sniper rifle that appears in Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. It was first shown during footage at the Call of Duty XP event.

Find Makarov: Operation Kingfish[]

The L118A is seen in a weapons cache during Soap's briefing with Shepherd.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3[]

Multiplayer[]

The L118A is unlocked as soon as Create-a-Class is unlocked.

The L118A has a base damage of 98 per shot. The L118A deals 50% extra damage on shots to the head, neck, and upper chest, while dealing 10% extra damage on shots to the lower abdomen. The L118A can get a one-shot kill to any of these areas. The L118A's excessive damage also makes it capable of getting a one-shot kill when shooting through some walls, although shots that hit the lower abdomen through a wall are very unlikely to be a one-shot kill. The Silencer will reduce the L118A's base damage to 70 per shot. This will remove the ability to get a one-shot kill to the lower abdomen, and while one-shot kill capability is retained elsewhere, one-shot kills through walls will become far less likely. The L118A has high penetration power.

The L118A fires in a bolt-action configuration, and has a maximum fire rate of 50 RPM. Users must wait 1.196 seconds in between shots.

The L118A has recoil values of 70 to the left and 70 to the right. The L118A has no downwards recoil value, and will instead kick upwards with a value of either 30 or 85. The L118A has a centerspeed value of 500. The L118A has a high amount of idle sway.

The L118A allows users to move at 90% of the base movement speed, or strafe at 36% of the base movement speed. The L118A allows users to aim down the sights in 400 milliseconds, and the hip-fire spread is extremely large. The L118A's reload animation is 3.03 seconds long, or 4.3 seconds long on an empty magazine. In either case, the user can Reload Cancel after 2.8 seconds.

The L118A has a magazine capacity of five rounds, and a starting ammo loadout of twenty rounds.

The L118A has the standard assortment of sniper rifle attachments and weapon proficiencies on offer. Most of them work as intended on the L118A. However, due to the magazine capacity being an odd number, Extended Mags will only increase the magazine capacity and starting ammo loadout by 40% instead of 50%.

In the game mode Money in the Denk, the L118A appears in the "Denk" class, where it has the Impact proficiency.

Proficiencies[]

  • Kick - Unlocked at weapon level 4.
  • Impact - Unlocked at weapon level 10.
  • Attachments - Unlocked at weapon level 14.
  • Focus - Unlocked at weapon level 18.
  • Speed - Unlocked at weapon level 24.
  • Stability - Unlocked at weapon level 28.

Survival Mode[]

The L118A is available in Survival Mode at level 35 and costs $2000. It is not very effective to use, since it rarely kills in one shot at later rounds and has poor handling in close quarters. Despite the poor handling, combining it with an assault rifle, LMG or SMG will make it very effective for a player's team, as they could potentially have the L118A user take a sniping role like in multiplayer, and still have something for medium to close ranges on hand. However, aiming for the head will be required later on, and even then, multiple shots and the Sleight of Hand or Quickdraw perks will be required to negate the reload or be able to shoot an aimed shot at a target faster without flinching and taking damage.
