The L96A1 is a bolt-action sniper rifle featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops, Call of Duty: Black Ops Declassified, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Call of Duty: Mobile.
Call of Duty: Black Ops[]
Multiplayer[]
The L96A1 is unlocked at level 27.
The L96A1 deals a seventy base damage per bullet. The L96A1 deals double the damage on all headshots and neck shots. The L96A1 also does 50% more damage if a bullet hits the upper torso or the biceps. The L96A1 also has high penetration power. An un-suppressed L96A1 shot that hits the head or neck will deal 140 damage, giving potential to get a one shot kill when shooting through an object.
The L96A1 is a bolt-action sniper rifle, and fires at a maximum intended rate of fire of 50 RPM. If the user switches away from the L96A1 without allowing the cycling of the bolt animation to begin, the user will be forced to cycle the bolt as soon as the user switches back to the L96A1. It is possible to interrupt the cycling of the bolt animation before it can start by initiating a reload and then immediately doing a Reload Cancel, which can allow for the cycling of the bolt animation to be avoided entirely.
The L96A1 kicks up and to the right with each shot with varying intensity. The L96A1 kicks to the right with a value of either 50 or 55, and upwards with a value of either 80 or 100. The L96A1's centerspeed value is 500. The L96A1 has 50% more idle sway than other sniper rifles.
The L96A1 allows users to move at 95% of the base movement speed, and strafe at 40% of the base movement speed. The L96A1 has an aim down sight time of 400 milliseconds, and the hip-fire spread is very wide. The L96A1's reload animation is 3.3 seconds long, or 3.5 seconds long if the magazine is empty. In either case, the L96A1 can perform a Reload Cancel in 2.45 seconds.
The L96A1 has a magazine capacity of five rounds, and a starting ammo loadout of twenty rounds.
The L96A1 has the standard assortment of sniper rifle attachments available. All attachments work as expected on the L96A1. The L96A1 uses the SUSAT Scope for its ACOG Scope.

Zombies[]
In Zombies, it is available out of the Mystery Box. It is a one-hit-kill in the early rounds, but after round 7 it loses its one-hit-kill ability to the chest and below. It is not available on the Wii version. It is capable of killing with a headshot up to about the thirties. Due to the L96A1's abysmal rate of fire, Double Tap Root Beer proves very effective on the weapon, allowing players to land shots within quicker succession while still having moderate control over their ammo.
The L96A1 is not a very efficient weapon for the game mode, as the L96A1 will not make a lot of points, as it usually nets 60 points per kill with a one shot kill to the abdomen or below. As such, the L96A1 is a terrible option for early rounds, as weapons like the SMGs and the Assault Rifles can net a lot more points than the L96A1 can.
When Pack-a-Punched, the L96A1 becomes the L115 Isolator. Its damage per shot increases to 1000, and the multipliers are vastly increased, allowing shots to the chest or below to be a one shot kill up until the twenties. As well, the L115 Isolator deals a whopping 10000 damage per headshot, easily killing zombies until round 40 and above. The L115 Isolator also has a larger magazine size [of 8] and more reserve ammunition, giving the L115 Isolator 80 shots to use compared to the L96A1's 50 rounds.
The L115 Isolator, unfortunately, is statistically inferior to the D115 Disassembler, which shares pretty much the same stats as the L115 Isolator, with the sole differences being a larger magazine size of 10 vs the L115 Isolator's 8, and the drastically higher rate of fire. As such, there is little to no reason to use the L115 Isolator if the player is capable of obtaining the D115 Disassembler, besides the L96A1's superior performance to the Dragunov in the earlier rounds.
This weapon can be considered a successor to the PTRS-41 from Call of Duty: World at War, due to their similar damage output, ammo capacity (non Pack-a-Punched), mag size, and bolt-action fire, although its reload time is some degree faster and its cycling rate is slower.

Call of Duty: Mobile[]
- "Modern bolt-action sniper rifle with excellent accuracy and mobility."
- — In-game description
The L96A1 returns in Call of Duty: Mobile as the LW3-Tundra. It was added in January 2024 as part of the Season 1: Soldier's Tale update.
Multiplayer[]
The LW3 is a powerful sniper on par with the DLQ and other high-power bolt-action snipers, with some unique traits. The first major trait is the use of bullet velocity, with the bullets needing time to reach their target. In most 5v5 maps, this has little effect, but it can show in larger sightlines and maps. The second trait is the Cold War attachments set, which prioritize mobility compared to other snipers with minimal downsides. A LW3 with a Tactical Laser and Serpent Wrap will have a better ADS by approximately 30 milliseconds compared to a DL Q33 with an MIP Light Barrel, YKM Combat Stock, and Tactical Laser, which can only achieve a minimum ADS time of 369ms compared to the LW3 with 334ms.
Unlike other snipers, which have high self-correcting vertical kick, the LW3 has virtually none, with only some mild shake as the avatar rechambers the LW3.
The LW3 also comes with a variety of special magazines, which can speed up the reload, add more starting ammunition, and extend the magazine, usually at the cost of ADS speed and reload time.
The LW3 also has one unique attachment: the 28.2" Tiger Team barrel. This barrel increases bullet velocity and the rate of fire and increasing the damage multiplier on the stomach, while decreasing magazine size by 1 round.
